Disclaimer: I do not own J.K. Rowling, the Harry Potter books, series, movies, characters or anything that has the slightest relation to Harry Potter. Also, I do not own the song "Hurt" by Christina Aguilera that is featured in this chapter. Neither does James or Elle. I REPEAT: I DO NOT OWN THE SONG "HURT" BY CHRISTINA AGUILERA THAT IS FEATURED IN THIS CHAPTER. NEITHER DOES JAMES OR ELLE. MOSTLY BECAUSE THEY ARE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS.

Author's Note: When I said about updating this when I had caught up with "Hogwarts, Here We Come!" I didn't realize I was caught up so I'm adding this as well, hopefully at the same time, pretty much. Anyways, nothing really new since my author's note one "Hogwarts, Here We Come!" except another reminder to check out "Hogwarts Rewind" by Britney Black. She is one of my best friends and it's a very good story. It also has one of my characters from HHWC as a minor character in it...okay, it's Emily. They're not exactly the same, obviously, but she is in there, you will see. So take a look at it! Also, I've been meaning to say this for a while. If you are reading this story, or have favorited it (I've noticed a lot of those), leave a review! I don't even care what it says! Just tell me who your favorite character is and why or something! Even just say a quote you liked! It means the world to me when I get reviews, so please, be kind a leave a review. I will love you forever.

Chapter Ten: Let's Hit The Stage

"James, I don't even know what to do!" I exclaimed as he dragged me along the seventh floor corridor. "Where are we even going?"

"Room of Requirement," He said bluntly.

"What's that?"

"It's a room that turns into whatever you need," He said as he walked by the same spot three times. A very fancy looking pair of oak doors appeared and then he opened one of them, making a grand gesture that signaled me to walk in. I went into the room and looked around.

The room was huge! It was round, which many rooms at this school are, the walls were covered in shelves of books, the top of the room was made of stained glass and there was a big black thing in the middle of the room that had smaller white things on it.

"James, what's that?" I asked, pointing at the object in question as I sat down on the bench that had previously been tucked neatly underneath the weird object.

"That's a piano, it's a musical instrument," He said, walking along the many shelves of books until he found one in particular. "They actually have my warm-up book here!"

"What's a warm-up book?" I asked.

"It's a book full of vocal warm-ups," He said. "Has the piano music so you can just sing along as I play."

"But James, that's what I've been trying to tell you. I don't know how to sing," I said as he sat down beside me on the piano bench.

"Okay, so I'll teach you by example," He said as he played a few keys and hummed along. "Can you do that?"

"I can try," I said, before actually trying. And we went on like this for about an hour with different warm-ups until I had actually gotten the hang of this singing thing.

"Okay, I had a really random moment and wrote this song for you to sing at your audition," James said, looking slightly embarrassed.

"You wrote a song for me?" I asked, smiling slightly.

"Yeah, but don't tell the guys because they'll humiliate me to no end," James said as he pulled a stack of sheet music out of the pocket of his sweater before arranging it on the piano so he could read it. "So do you want me to sing through it first, or do you just want to try it?"

"Can you do it first please?" I asked and he nodded as he started playing. He was singing it and it was such a sweet song! I can't even believe he wrote it out for me.

"Wanna try it now?" He asked, and it was my turn to nod. He started playing and I started singing it quietly and when it was finished, he was just staring at me.

"What?" I asked, looking at him.

"You are so going to get the lead part," He said.

"So what do we have next?" Sirius asked.

"Defense Against the Dark Arts," James answered.

"Sweet!" Sirius said as we walked on.

"I wonder what we'll be learning today," I said thoughtfully as we walked into the classroom. I loved this class. With all those horrid reports of deaths in the newspapers lately, this class gave me a feeling of being safe, because it taught me how to be aware.

Professor Forrest was sitting at his desk waiting for the bell to ring, which in turn would signal the beginning of class. It rung and we were all in our seats as he slowly got up and walked to the front of the class.

Professor Forrest was a very old teacher and looked close to retirement. His hair was pure white, and he wore thick glasses so he could see everything. He loved the subject he taught, and wasn't too old for that.

"Please turn your books to page 398. This week we are going to be learning about werewolves," He said, opening the teacher's guide to the designated page. "Werewolves, also known as lycanthropes are humans. At every full moon, they turn into a werewolf. The curse is only transferred by the bite of a transformed werewolf. They are only dangerous during the full moon. Before and after that, they are normal people just like you and me.

"Around the time of their transformations, they are fairly moody as well as craving only meat. Their senses become more sharpened than normal, but are at their best during the full moon. Also, the transformations are extremely painful, but can be even more so if something is on their mind and disturbing them. Most people are scared of werewolves because they have been known to eat human flesh in their transformed state and attack entire villages, leaving no survivors, like in this picture."

"Father, what's happening? The guards aren't letting me outside," I said, trying to get a look out of one of the castle's many windows which were being guarded as well.

"Werewolves," He muttered, before turning to me. "Eleanor, you need to get out of here."

"Wait, werewolves? Werewolves are attacking us?" I asked, rushing to the window before anyone could stop be to see a giant group of werewolves fighting the guards. "Ohmigod."

"Sweetheart, in your bedroom there is a staircase. It's located underneath your bed. You must go under there and tell it to open in our native language and go down. The stairs lead to an underground passage which leads out of the kingdom. You must go, and while you're gone, fulfill your mission."

"Daddy! I'm not ready! And I can't leave you! You'll die!" I said, starting to cry.

"You are ready. I believe in you. And don't worry about me; this is what I have to do to protect you. I'm not letting them get my wife and my child. You must continue the royal blood line. Now go! And run fast, because they will be able to smell you! Find Adelaide and stay with her family until news is sent that it's safe to return," He said. "GO! And take the box!"

"Bye Daddy, I love you."

"I love you too sweetheart," He said, hugging me and placing a kiss on my forehead before I started running. I ran up multiple flights of stairs until I came to my bedroom. I took my traveling cloak out from the closet and wrapped it around me, pulling the hood over my face. I ran to the chest at the bottom of my bed and grabbed the box that had become so precious. I dived under my bed, saying the password before slipping down the hole and onto the stairs. I ran down until I saw the lighted tunnel and grabbed one of the torches that lit the walls. I started running, clutching the box to my chest as I heard my father's screams of pain. This was the last time I would see my father. He was dead.

"ELLE!" Someone screamed. I just kept crying. My father was dead!

"Professor, I'm going to take her outside. I'll explain it to you later," A familiar voice said, picking me up and carrying me somewhere.

"LET ME GO! I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! YOU'RE THE ONES WHO KILLED MY FATHER! PLEASE DON'T HURT ME!" I screamed at them, tears still streaming down my face as I kicked and hit and did everything in my power to get away from them.

"Elle! It's me! Remus!" He said and I stopped screaming to see his blurry face through my teary eyes. He looked a bit terrified. "What happened?"

"He's dead Remus, he's dead!" I cried out, sobbing into his shoulder as we both sank to the ground.

"Who is Elle? Who's dead?" He asked, sounding concerned.

"My book...I need the book," I muttered, wiping at my eyes as I looked around for it.

"What?" He asked. I think I might be confusing him.

"I need my book!" I screamed at him. I didn't know why exactly, but I felt very emotional at the moment. These flashbacks were horrible!

"Where is it?" Remus asked.

"My bag," I said as he ran into the classroom and came back out with my bag. I dug through its contents until I found my book, a bottle of ink and a quill. I started scribbling down everything that I had seen, exactly as it happened, tears leaking from my eyes as I did so. I finished and started crying again at the thought of my father, who I could barely remember, but was dead.

"Sh..." Remus whispered in my ear. "It'll be okay. I promise."

There was a loud bang in the classroom, like an explosion and then an even louder shout of "OUT!". James and Sirius came out with grins of accomplishment plastered on their faces before they came and sat down beside me.

"What happened?" Sirius asked.

"Another flashback," I muttered, leaning against Remus' chest as he wrapped his arms around me comfortingly.

"And...?" James questioned, obviously wanting to know what had happened to cause my sudden outburst in class.

"Werewolves killed my family," I whispered, causing a few tears to leak out again while they all tensed up, while exchanging worried glances with each other. Then suddenly, the three boys engulfed me in a hug. It was in this moment that I knew my whole family hadn't been killed, because part of my family was sitting with me right at this moment giving me a hug.

James' POV

"So you helped Elle with her audition song?" Sirius asked.

"Yup."

"Is she any good?"

"You'll just have to wait and see."

"Man, you suck."

"I know, but not as much as you do."

"James, can I talk to you privately?" Elle asked as Sirius and I walked into the Great Hall which had been turned into an area with a stage and some seats for auditions.

We had all done our script audition already were waiting to be called up for the song part.

"Sure," I said as she dragged me away from everyone and out of the Great Hall.

"I can't do this."

"Sure you can," I said. "You just go up there with me and sing."

"I can't do it in front of all these people!" She shrieked, shaking ferociously. Oh, so she had stage fright. I was wondering because she did excellent in her script audition. Then again, that was in a room with only the director of the play.

"Look Elle, when we go up, just look at me. Stand at the back with me, and just sing to me. Just like when we were practicing," I said and she nodded, although she looked completely terrified. I wrapped my arm around her in a side hug. "You'll do fine."

"Elle Knightley, you're up," Professor Maestro said as we walked up, Elle still shaking like an earth quake.

"Come on, it'll be fine," I whispered to her and she nodded stiffly, walking up onto the stage with me as I held her hand in the most platonic of ways to try and give her some reassurance. I walked over to the piano and sat down while Elle got the microphone from Professor Maestro. She looked at it in a confused manner as she walked back over to me. "You sing into it and it magnifies your voice."

"Oh."

I started playing the piano and she started singing along, very nervously and quietly.

"Seems like it was yesterday when I saw your face
You told me how proud you were but I walked away
If only I knew what I know today

"I would hold you in my arms
I would take the pain away
Thank you for all you've done
Forgive all your mistakes
There's nothing I wouldn't do
To hear your voice again
Sometimes I want to call you but I know you won't be there," She had gradually gotten louder and was occasionally looking away from me.

"I'm sorry for blaming you for everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself by hurting you

"Some days I feel broke inside but I won't admit
Sometimes I just want to hide 'cause it's you I miss
You know it's so hard to say goodbye when it comes to this

"Would you tell me I was wrong?
Would you help me understand?
Are you looking down upon me?
Are you proud of who I am?
There's nothing I wouldn't do
To have just one more chance
To look into your eyes and see you looking back," She was now in the spotlight in the middle, just belting it out. So much for being afraid.

"I'm sorry for blaming you for everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself

"If I had just one more day, I would tell you how much that
I've missed you since you've been away
Oh, it's dangerous
It's so out of line to try to turn back time

"I'm sorry for blaming you for everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself

"By hurting you," She finished off by singing the last few lines very softly. The whole Great Hall broke into applause and a big grin spread across Elle's face. She had added in all sorts of improvisations and riffs, making it sound better than I could've imagined.

"I'm so proud of you," I whispered to her as I hugged her.

"I'm proud of myself! That felt so amazing!" She whispered back as we walked off the stage. Sirius was now up singing some love song, and Remus was on deck, meaning that he would be up next.

Afterwards, the Marauders were all coming up to Elle and telling her how great she was. She was really amazing. She sounded like an angel. I never expected that to come out of her. She never sounded like that in practice.

"Prongs," Remus said in a low voice. "Why didn't you tell me she was that good?"

"Because one, I wanted it to be a surprise, and two, I had no clue she would be that good," I said. "Why? Does it give you another reason to want to be in her pants?"

"Prongs!"

"What? We all know it's true," I said matter-of-factly.

"It is not. I just fancy her. There's nothing more to it than that," He said, turning slightly red.

Next time on "Remember"

Just as I was about to turn the page, Elle fell off my shoulder and now had her head in my lap. Amazingly enough, she was still fast asleep.

"Okay, so we got a whole bunch of candy for everyone," James said as they walked into the compartment. "Now what's going on here?"

"Elle fell off my shoulder and into my lap. Nothing more," I said as James and Sirius exchanged looks. "Don't exchange your stupid little looks! She's out cold!"

"We weren't doing anything," Sirius said, almost a little too innocently while smiling evilly.
