"It's not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are.”
- Roy Disney
Sirius sat on the bench with Izzy, none of them saying a word. Izzy's hair was tangled, while Sirius had a bleeding nose. They weren't a pretty sight for sure.
"Ugh, I'm not in the mood for Hogsmeade anymore," Izzy stated, as another group of gossiping Hufflepuffs passed them, giving them curious glances. "I'm going back to the castle, you coming?"
"No, I'm gonna go to Zonko's one more time."
"But we already went there two times earlier!" Izzy groaned.
"You don't have to come, I'll get you something, and then I'll find you," he said, standing up with Izzy.
"Well, I'm in the Common Room," Izzy told him, making a movement to leave, as Sirius grabbed her hand and leaned down to kiss her. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, Sirius..." Izzy said, shoving him away while laughing. "See you later!"
"Not if I see you first!" Srius called after her, watching Izzy walk up towards the castle.
"What was that about?" Remus asked, appearing beside him with a grim look on his face.
"It's called a relationship," Sirius stated calmly. "I strongly advice it. Why so grim?" he asked, as they started to walk deeper into Hogsmeade.
"Bored," Remus simply said.
"That's my line!" Sirius exclaimed, shocked.
Remus smiled a bit, and glanced at Sirius' face for the first time - and arched a brow at the bleeding nose. "What happened to you?"
"Had a small chat with my dear brother," Sirius said sarcastically.
"I see," Remus said.
Neither of them noticed that they passed Zonko's, as they walked in silence. Sirius didn't feel like going to Zonko's anymore. He felt like running somewhere, maybe even jump into the ice cold lake.
When they arrived to the Shrieking Shack, Remus froze and made Sirius bump into him.
"Oi, what--" Sirius started, but as he followed Remus' gaze, he saw Nessa sit on a rock with her back to them, her body trembling as she sobbed quietly. "Is that who I think it is?" Sirius muttered.
"It's Nessa, if that's what you mean," Remus said, nodding. "Maybe you should go and talk to her."
"Why me!?" Sirius hissed, feeling panic take over. He was pretty sure Nessa would just slap him or start screaming at him.
"She trusts you, believe me - she does."
Sirius gave his friend a weird look, before rolling his eyes and slowly making his way over to the crying girl. "Nessa?" he said quietly.
"Go away," Nessa muttered, lifiting her head a bit.
"Are you okay?" Sirius asked, carefully sitting down on the rock, keeping his distance.
"Do I look okay?" Nessa sobbed, turning her face away from him. "I look like a mess..." she said, trying to wipe away her tears that had smeared her mascara.
"Let me see," Sirius said, gently turning Nessa's face towards his. "Naah, you look great, you... you are beautiful."
They stared at each other, both of them confused how they could sit there and be civil. Sirius noticed how Nessa's eyes fell down on his lips, and jumped back to his eyes. It was a clear sign.
She was going to kiss him.
Before Sirius could even look away, or in anyway prevent what would happen next, Nessa pressed her lips against his, a couple of her warm tears splashing down as she clutched her eyes shut in a pained expression.
"I'm sorry," she whispered as she pulled away, resting her forehead against his. "I'm sorry for everything I've done..."
Sirius closed his eyes, and slowly pushed her away. "Nessa, you don't know what you're doing."
Nessa flinched, and stood up quickly. "No, I don't," she agreed harshly, and brushed past him.
"Hey!" Sirius said loudly, making her stop abruptly. "Look at me!" he demanded. A new wave of emotions rushed over him, as he took a deep breath, and met Nessa's chocolate brown eyes. "You're dating my brother, you're a traitor, why bother to apologize!?"
Nessa blinked, and took a step closer. Somehow, she felt more pulled to him when he was angry. "I never wanted to hurt anyone," she said calmly.
"Well, you did! Well done!"
"Sirius," Nessa said, closing her eyes slowly. "Does... is... does she hate me?" she whispered, opening her eyes again. "Does Izzy hate me?"
Sirius' eyes softened, as she watched the dark haired girl look down at the ground, ashamed of herself and her actions - her choices. "No, she never hated you," he finally said. "She's disappointed, frustrated and hurt, as are your other friends."
"Do you think they will ever forgive me?"
"I'm sure they will," he muttered darkly, as he rushed past her.
He had almost reached the confused looking Remus, when Nessa called after him with a weak voice. He stopped, but didn't turn around, only turned his head slightly to the side.
"Will you?" she asked quietly. "Will you ever forgive me?"
Sirius looked slowly at Remus, who pretended to be fascinated by his own scarf, and Sirius sighed. "I have nothing to forgive," he finally said, and pulled Remus with him.
"I'm so sorry!" Lily apologized, as she walked up to the castle with Matthew. "Matt, I--"
"Lily," Matthew said calmly. "It's fine, I just want to be with you," he said smiling.
"Oh!" Lily said, frowning. "Well, I... that's great to hear!" she said, surprised by how blunt he was with his feelings. "Because I want to be with you too," she said, grinning.
"Are the rumors true?" he asked after a while.
"If the rumors include me and Potter, then no, I don't think they are," she answered calmly, clenching her teeth angrily.
"Erm, I meant the rumors about the coming Masquerade ball," he said, looking confused.
"Oh..." Lily said, brushing her red hair nervously from her face. "Well, yes, it was mentioned at the Heads meeting."
"Would you like to--" he started, but was cut off as a group of Hufflepuffs passed him and changed a few words about the coming Quidditch game against Gryffindor. Lily frowned, as she heard Matthew assure his friends that they would "take them down."
Like hell they would.
When he looked back around, he found Lily walk briskly up the hill, her face fuming, while James grinned in amusement nearby.
Izzy sat outside the Common Room, and glared angrily at the Fat Lady. She had never believed she would be in this situation; she couldn't remember the password, and on top of it all, she had lost a heated argument with the Fat Lady about grapes.
"Bitch," she muttered, and crossed her arms angrily.
"Language!" the Fat Lady hollered, looking appalled.
Izzy rolled her eyes, and sat up straighter as she heard steps coming closer. Around the corner came a furious looking Lily, followed by a breathless Matthew Harper and James and Kate with amused looks on their faces.
"Hold on, Lils!" Matthew called, as Lily arrived to the portrait.
"What?" Lily said loudly, twirling around to face him. "You want to explain why you want to 'take us Gryffindors down'?" she demanded.
"Oh, you heard that, didn't you?" he said, looking embarrassed.
"I stood next to you, Matt," she said, placing her hands on her hips.
"Yeah, well, it's nothing serious!" he explained. "It's just a game, you don't seriously think I would hurt anyone on purpose, do you?"
"Well..." Lily said, hesitating. "No, not exactly," she agreed. "But why are all guys the same!? What is it with Quidditch and guys, and all the violence!?"
"It's just a game, love," Matthew said, and took a step closer, unaware of the audience they had. "Come here..." he murmured, and lift Lily's chin up with his thumb, and leaned down to kiss her.
"Eurgh!" Izzy said loudly, using James' arm to help herself up. "Get a room, you two!" she scolded.
Lily pulled quickly away, blushing deeply but pretended like nothing had happened. "Well, I'll see you--" Lily started, but was swept away by Matthew, who was kissing her like there was no tomorrow. "...tomorrow," she finished, clearly out of breath when he pulled away. "Bye!" she said with a unnaturally high voice, and rushed into the Common Room, passing a dumbstrucked Izzy, James and Kate.
"Well that was..." Kate started, and cleared her throat.
"Weird," Izzy and James chorused.
"Shouldn't you be in your own dorm?" Izzy questioned in a muffled tone, her face buried deep in her pillow.
They were all dressed in their pajamas, and Izzy was the only one who hadn't bothered to dry her hair. This had - of course - annoyed Lily beyond anything, but as usually, Izzy didn't care.
"I don't want to go there," Lily stated calmly, pushing aside some of the other girls' things from her old bed - they hadn't exactly mourned over the fact that she had moved out to the Head's Dorm.
"If I were you," Izzy started, and lift up her head from the pillow. "I wouldn't leave that place for any price!"
"Surely you would have to come out at some point," Kate said and turned the page in her book. "You know, to see Sirius and eat and such..."
"Actually, the house-elves can bring us food anytime we want," Lily pointed out, making Izzy sit up quickly.
"WHAT!?!?!?" she exclaimed.
"Yeah," Lily said, shrugging, as if it was no big deal.
But she had no idea how big deal it was for someone like Izzy.
"If I had known," she started with a serious tone. "That you get all that fancy stuff when you're Head Girl, then I would have behaved from day one!"
"No you wouldn't have," Lily said, frowning. "Come on, let's face it; you never planned to fit in, did you?"
"Well, no," Izzy admitted after a moment. "But in theory--"
"--but in theory, your entire point sucks," Kate said calmly, smiling to her friend.
"While techincally--" Izzy said, glaring at Kate.
"---technically, it's impossible," Lily finished, making Izzy scream in frustration.
"This is what you get for being friends with smart people!" she wailed, falling back down on her bed.
Lily opened her mouth, to ask what Kate was reading, as the door slammed open, and a terrible looking Nessa stood at the door. Her clothes were dripping, her mascara was smeared down her perfect face, and her lips were blue, and trembling like leaves.
"Nessa," Lily whispered, standing up quickly. "What--"
"I'm so... so sorry," she said with a shaky voice. "I'm sorry for everything I've done."
Lily was the first one to act. She rushed to Nessa, and wrapped her arms around her, letting the girl sob against her shoulder. Izzy changed glances with Kate, who climbed out from her bed and walked up to Lily and Nessa. "Here," Kate said, handing Nessa a tissue.
"Oh come on, Katie!" Izzy said loudly. "She needs more than a tissue!" she said, and walked carefully to Nessa, her face unreadable. "Here," she said, and reached out her hand, handing Nessa a towel. "Go take a shower."
"Thank you," Nessa said, and dragged her feet to the bathroom. The three girls listened as the water turned on, before starting a heated argument.
"We can't tell her to go away!" Kate whispered.
"And we're not going to!" Lily agreed, giving Izzy a look.
"But we can't just forgive and forget--" Izzy argued.
"We can and we will," Lily said.
"Izzy," Kate said, shaking her head. "That is our friend in there... our friend, and we can't just turn our backs to her, no matter what she did, or how badly she behaved."
"I can't believe this crap..." Izzy growled, sitting back down on her bed, crossing her arms with a huff.
For once, Lily didn't bother to comment about her language.
"Come on," Kate said, as Lily slowly sat down on her old bed. "She'll be out any minute."
"Yes," Lily said and nodded. "We're her friends."
They both looked at Izzy, who bit her lip. "Fine," she simply said, adding a nonchalant shrug, just as Nessa entered the room again, a white fluffy robe wrapped around her, and her hair dripping with water.
"Hi," she said quietly, and looked from Lily and Kate's smiling faces to Izzy's moody one. Izzy couldn't even look at Nessa, and Nessa bit her lip nervously. "Izzy..." she whispered, and Izzy stood quickly up, walking briskly up to Nessa, making the dark haired girl take a step backwards.
"You betrayed us," Izzy said hotly. "You abandoned us all, for a guy, for a Slytherin!" Izzy said, feeling her eyes burn with tears. "You hurt us... you hurt me!"
"No, I will never forget!" Izzy yelled, tears rolling down her cheeks. "I will never forget how you hurt me, and for what! You can't just... just... just march back here and expect us to take you back with open arms! I... I..." Izzy said, wiping her tears furiously away. Her voice cracked, and now she stood in front of Nessa, crying her eyes out like a little girl.
"Izzy..." Nessa said, but Izzy shook her head.
"Don't!" she sobbed. "I missed you so much, and you have no idea..."
"Izzy..." Nessa said again, but this time, she was cut off by Izzy, who flung her arms around Nessa, and hugged her. "I'm never going to leave you again," Nessa whispered, as Izzy cried against her shoulder.
Soon enough, Nessa was also crying.
"This turned out to be a sobfest, huh?" Lily said to Kate, who nodded slowly.
"I never realized they were so close," Kate stated.
"Well, they did know each other before Hogwarts, didn't they?"
"Lily, Kate," Nessa suddenly said, as Izzy pulled away from the hug. "Will you ever forgive me?"
Lily and Kate exchanged glances, and turned to Nessa with big smiles on their faces. "Of course!"
Nessa smiled through her tears, and Lily and Kate both walked to Nessa and Izzy.
"Are we too old for group hugs?" Nessa asked, and earned a snort from Izzy, who was wiping her eyes with her sleeve.
"You can never be too old for group hugs," Lily said.
A/N: I feel almost ashamed for abandoning this story, I really really do :( Such a big writer's block, and... ush, it was awful. I will try to be more active in the future, considering that I have everything planned all the way to a sequel. Huh, fancy that... xD It will take a while, but please try to understand :) Thank you!
