After the train arrived at Hogwarts and we had changed into our robes, Scorpius took our belongings and put them in a carriage.

“Hey Rosie! How was the train! We didn’t see you!” said my cousin James. God, James. He thinks that after five years of the same train I would get up to mischief once? This s going to be a long carriage ride…

“Rose! Rose Weasley!” yelled Professor McGonagall. “I would like to see you in my office directly after the feast. There is some er… important business to be taken care of. The password is Peverell.”

Wow. That’s the first time the Headmistress has ever asked me to see her in her office! Of course, Professor McGonagall is my favorite teacher, but I didn’t expect her to notice me as often as she does in the summer. Just because I’m Ron Weasley’s daughter doesn’t mean she talks to me more than other kids at school. I can’t worry about that now though, because there’s an amazing feast awaiting me through those double doors over there.

BAM! The instant I open the doors that’s what I hear.

“PEAVES! WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE?!” yelled McGonagall. Peaves was drifting overhead, laughing at us all while throwing more wizard crackers down at us.

I walked towards the Gryffindor table, and plopped down next to James, across the table from Al and Scorpius. Professor Flitwick waved his wand and all of the sudden, wondrous food appeared in front of us. There was pudding, treacle tart, stew, chowder, steak, chicken, and almost everything that you could imagine. I dug in, my plate piled high with endless amounts of food, and after all, I’m Ron Weasley’s daughter.

“Welcome, new students, and to most, welcome back. This is the start of what I can see is going to be an amazing year, to say the least. Each house will follow their prefects back to the dormitories, as they know the passwords. I would like to remind you that the forbidden forest is, forbidden. How ironic. Also, my standing offer of 100 galleons to whoever can take out Peaves is still legitimate.”

I bade my friends goodbye, and, loyally headed to the Headmistress’ office. As I rounded the corner someone tapped me on the shoulder. Malfoy. Damn. Why did he have to be so gorgeous?

“Hi Rose. I was wondering could I come with you?” asked Scorpius. Why, why on God’s green earth would he want to come and see Minerva McGonagall with me? Well, we approached the gargoyles, so I said “Peverell,” as loud as I could, and headed up the stairs with Scorpius Malfoy at my heels. I knocked at the door, but it just swung open, and Minerva was sitting at her desk.

“Ah yes, Rose. And Mr. Malfoy. It’s fine you came Scorpius. Actually, it’s something I wanted to talk to the two of you about."

"Why would you want to talk to us Professor?" asked Rose nervously.

"Well, as you can see, we are two short of prefects. Both in Gryffindor house. That would be you two now. Also, Rose, you are now Captain of the Gryffindor quidditch team. Any questions?"

"Who, what, where when, and why?" said Scorpius with a shy smile.

This is going to be a long year.
