Running, she listened to her heartbeat, its quick rythmatic beating being the only thing keeping her from breaking down and crying in pain. The night brought her no soothing ease from her nightmare she'd just barely escaped; haunted trees hung high over her head, groaning with the wind and rain, their putred faces illuminated in horror every time lightning would streak across the sky.
Why had Severus done this to her?
"What a beautiful girl Severus...what a beautiful girl." Voldemort had hissed from the darkness.
Severus stood still, his head lowered, not looking at her.
"Tell me Severus," he had hissed. "How does she taste?"
Rane moaned out in frustration as she pushed her way through the last line of trees, clearing her way to the castle grounds.
She could no longer hear anyone scream after her, but she refused to stop running. She needed to be safe...unfortunatley, the only safe place she had left had been buried under her resolute damage. How could she have fallen so deeply into this abyss to the point where she had nobody else to turn to.
Her baby was dead, ripped from her, and she had been defiled, humiliated before the dozen-or-so spectators, which Rane still had no idea were.
Without realizing it, she stood before the Fat Lady, murmering the passward that she couldn't quite remember how she got and bolted up the stairs and into a boys dormitory.
Am I safe now...?
The last thing Rane could remember was the sight of the Maraurders' faces as she stood before them, horrified as they were, before she lost her consciousness.

Why am I moving?
Rane opened her eyes slowly, suddenly realizing that she was moving very quickly, floating almost.
She regarded her brother through weak eyes, unsure of what was happening and why he was running down a corridor with her in his arms.
"Jamie," she whispered, hoarsly. "Please don't make me go back with him."
James' head snapped, suddenly down towards her, his lips thin. His running slowed.
"He wont ever touch you again-"
More darkness.

She could feel a warm hand holding her own, a different scent, although slightly familiar, filling her head.
When Rane woke again, the sunlight was pouring in from the mid-day sunlight, batheing the hospital wing of Hogwarts with gold.
She shuddered, wishing she could fall back to sleep and forget everything once again.
"So you finally got what you deserved."
She knew his voice, and suddenly realized who the hand she was holding belonged to. Her body filled with rage but, with exaustion, in quickly turned into an aggrievance, tearing her apart even more.
Remus made an agitated sound. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that."
"No," Rane whispered, bearly audible. "You're right."
With his help, Rane managed to sit up to look at him. She bit her lip, holding back hot tears that threatened to cross her control and bring her into a complete breakdown.
"No, Rane. No." Remus looked at her with sad eyes. "If you could've seen yourself last night...if you could see yourself now...I.... What the fuck did he do to you Rane?"
"I'm scared, Remus."
She broke.
Why am I so weak?
"The nurse, she said...she said you're not...that the baby's...."
I know.
But she kept crying.
"I would've taken care of you, Rane! I loved you! How could you...why would-gah!"
I know.
But she kept crying.
"You destroyed me, Rane, to let that bastard...to let him hurt you like he did! What did he do to you."
Unsure of how it happened, or who moved first, Remus was laying next to Rane, his lips moving franticly against hers. Their hands moved togeather, running over eachothers clothed bodies.
"You dont...understand," Remus managed, once he pulled away. "I even hoped that you would even come back...regardless if it was to use me like you did, again, Rane."
"Remus," Rane spoke, in nothing more than a whisper. "Saying that I'm sorry would only be mocking to you...after...everything."
"Rane...I love you."
"I don't, Remus...I'm sorry but-"
Rane was cut off as Remus began to pull away from her, a broken expression on his beautiful face. She touched his shoulder, stopping him.
"-but I'm sure I could love you, Remus. I've had feelings for you before...not all of it was fake. Just please...please don't let him near me."
Remus wrapped his arms around her. "I wont."
Severus....
~*~
Severus had attempted to approach her on several occasions, saying that he needed to explain things to her, but since the boys, save the still-skeptical-Sirius, had made sure that at least one of them was with her at all times, Rane never had to speak to him.
Remus had become closer to her, but she still didn't feel the same adoratin for him. Everything about Severus remained burned into her memories, slowly becomming suffocated by that night with Voldemort. She knew that, if she wanted to be safe...that Remus...Remus was who she would have to love...right?
