Samantha Fawcett dashed down the corridor, her hair tangled and pointing up in odd directions. Her breathing was fast, as she sped towards the Hufflepuff Common Room, almost running down two of the Marauders; James Potter and Remus Lupin.
"Watch it, Sami!" James called after the girl, but she ignored him.
As she said the password to the portrait near the kitchens (Dudilium!), she entered and took a deep breath.
"MEREDITH ANNE FAWCETT!!!!!!" Sami roared at the top of her lungs, making the first year students gather their things hastily and scatter away down the tunnels that lead to the dorms. "Drag your scrawny arse here!"
A dark haired girl with chocolate brown eyes appeared from one of the tunnels, her dark curls up in a ponytail as she tilted her head to the side, making her almond shaped eyes look even bigger.
"Yes?" she said softly, even if Sami had had a very different tone.
"Sis," Sami spoke, her face clear from emotions. "What's this rumor about you dating Sirius Black?" she demanded.
"What?" Meredith laughed, crossing her arms. "Is this why you ever so nicely called me here?"
"Yes!" Sami said, flinging her arms in the air. "Sirius Black is... is... is a Marauder!" she said lamely.
"Yeah, so?" Meredith said, still not answering directly to Sami's question.
"Yeah, so!?" Sami urged. "Are you--"
"Dad told me to tell you that mum didn't like your last prank," Meredith cut off, her face blank. "She--"
"She's not talking to me, I know!" Sami said, waving it off with her hand. "But--"
"Sami-hun," Meredith said calmly in her sisterly voice. "You need to learn to put school first, and everything else then. Maybe even leave that darn pranking away completely."
"Stop acting like you're my big sister!" Sami huffed, sitting down in one of the fat armchairs.
"But I
am your big sister," Meredith said, sitting down in the other armchair.
"By three bloody minutes, you arse!" Sami snorted, crossing her arms angrily.
"Still counts," Meredith said smiling.
"Does not!"
"It does, Sami," Meredith told her stubborn twin sister.
"Well damn you then!" Sami said loudly, looking away from her annoyingly perfect sister. "You still haven't answered if you're dating Sirius Black."
Meredith sighed, and shook her head. Meredith had never got the fact how her irresponsible and rebellious twin sister could be so stubborn for a Hufflepuff. She was nothing like the other Hufflepuffs, and she sure didn't even try to fit in the crowd. Against the laws of nature, she had befriended Lily Evans, a fellow seventh year girl, who was also Head Girl. Lily was calm and rational, and sometimes Meredith wondered if that had been the thing that had made Lily take Sami under her wing.
Or then it could be the fact that neither of them belonged anywhere else.
With a sigh, Meredith stood up and walked back towards the tunnel she had emerged from. She turned around and Sami looked up with an arched eyebrow.
"Yes, I'm dating Sirius Black."

"MY FREAKIN' HEART IS IN PIECES!!!!!!!!" Sami cried out, burying her face into the pillow as she let out a scream.
"I know you're not crying, Sami," Lily stated calmly, as she was already used to Sami's dramatic reactions. "It's physically impossible for you to cry, you said it yourself," she continued, as Sami looked up from the pillow to glare at her best friend.
"Could you for once support me, Evans?" she asked, before letting her head fall again.
"Oh please! Sirius Black is hardly the man of your dreams, your knight in a shining armor," Lily said, trying to cheer her friend up. "Besides, I dare say Remus Lupin is more decent, don't you think?"
Sami sat up quickly, shoving the pillow aside, her eyes flaming. "How dare you say something like that? There's no one like Sirius Black! He cannot be compared to someone like Remus Lupin! He is one of a kind, a unique piece of art that God created for us females to fall for, have hopeless dreams of, and get our poor soul taken away and hearts crushed!"
"Oh yes, I'm sure God thought about that!" Lily muttered, as she studied her nails.
Sami stood up, and started to pace around in the Head's Common Room. "I need a plan!"
"Oh no you don't!" Lily said, shaking her head wildly. "Remember what happened last year, and last year's plan? No? You don't remember trying to steal McGonagall's knickers just to hang them up in the Great Hall?"
"Lily," Sami said, closing her eyes with a suffering sigh. "You frustrate me!"
"
I frustrate
you!?" Lily snorted.
"Yes," Sami said simply, and stopped suddenly as she saw Remus walk in - obviously getting the password from James Potter just like the other Marauders.
"Hello," he greeted with a quick wave, before turning to head towards the other side of the room, where James' room was.
"Hi, Remus!" Lily greeted cheerfully, as Sami continued her pacing, completely ignoring Remus.
Remus stopped abruptly, and watched Sami's nervous pacing and muttering for a while, before turning to Lily with a quizzical look. "What's up with her?"
"She just found out--" Lily started, but was soon tackled by Sami who covered her mouth with her hand.
"I just found out that my periods started today!" Sami said cheerfully, and grinned to Remus, who seemed to back away with a cautious look on his face. "I think I'm going to faint because of the major blood loss!"
"Right," Remus said, looking around in concern. "Well, have fun!" he simply said, and left to find James.
A few minutes went, before Lily shoved Sami off of her, and Sami quickly picked herself up from the floor and continued to pace.
"You're hopeless, Sami, you're aware of that, right?" Lily said, shaking her head.
"I don't care!" Sami said. "Sirius Black has my heart, I am fully and completely charmed by his--"
"Oh God, not again!" Lily groaned, preparing for the speech that would have made Sirius' ego explode.
"--His stormy grey eyes that hypnotize me, pull me deeper and deeper--"
"Have you ever actually been that close to him?" Lily asked.
"--And I can't resist but live on the smell of his cologne, his fresh, manly, so intoxicating smell!"
"Yeah, me neither, but that's only because he probably takes a bath in it," Lily huffed, getting a glare from Sami.
"Shut up, Evans," she said.
Sami continued pacing again, and finally gave up, as she plopped down on the sofa next to Lily. "I'm giving up!" she sighed.
"Already?" Lily asked sarcastically.
"Ha ha, laugh it up, fuzz ball!" Sami huffed. "Maybe I--"
"--Should give up on Sirius Black and move on? Couldn't agree more, Sami. G'night!" Lily said, giving Sami a motherly pat on the top of her head as she stood up.
"Hey!" Sami said, watching Lily walk away. "Where are ya going, Lils?"
"Sleep," Lily said, looking over at her. "You should try it out too. You know your way out, I assume?"
"Yes, but--"
"See you tomorrow at breakfast!" Lily called and shut her door.
Damn.

"...three hundred and ninety-four raving Hippogriffs... three hundred and ninety-five raving Hippogriffs... three hundred and ninety-six raving Hippogriffs..."
Sami fell silent as Meredith turned around in her bed, mumbling something under her breath.
"Three hundred and ninety-seven raving Hippogriffs, three hundred and ninety-eight raving Hippogriffs, three hundred and ninety-nine raving Hippogriffs.... four hundred raving Hippogriffs," Sami finished her endless counting, and looked at her clock on the nightstand. "And it's only four in the morning."
She placed her hands behind her head, and sighed deeply. "Oh Sirius... you're keeping me awake!" she complained with a whisper, and quickly looked at the clock again. "One minute later, and you're still on my mind!" she groaned, placing the back of her hand on her forehead in a dramatic gesture.
"Will you shut up!?" a sleepy voice said, and Sami could only guess it was Priscilla Vane, one of her dorm mates. Soon, Priscilla's snores filled the room again, and Sami muttered some rude callnames she would have to repeat in the morning.
Not many people knew about Sami's "little crush" on Sirius Black.
It was more like an obsession. Lily was the only one who knew - and that was only because she happened to walk in when Sami was sniffling at Sirius Black's Quidditch robes in the laundry room right beside the kitchen.
Sami quickly sat up, drumming her fingers against her knee as she stared out through the window. Full moon. She loved full moons. Somehow, they reminded her of Sirius Black.
As a wolf howled in the distance, she jumped and accidentally slammed down a picture of her and Meredith. Sami covered her mouth as she watched the framed picture on the floor. She slowly leaned down to pick it up, and stared at the grinning picture-persons - that were now covered with broken glass, small cracks all over it.
As if they had been pulled apart by something. Or someone.
An electric jolt went up to Sami's head, and lit on the small light bulb, and she stood up in joy, punching the air excitedly.
"I got it now!" she called out, making some of the girls let out quiet moans. "I got it now..." she whispered, and slowly sat back down, her face one big grin.
She had a plan.

Sami dashed down the stairs towards the Great Hall, her eyes wide as saucers. She looked around in the Great Hall, only to find James and Lily talking to each other over the table.
"Oi!" Sami called to the couple. "Oi, Lily!" she called again, making Lily look up from her boyfriend.
"Hmm?" she said, looking cautious. "Did you stay up all night again, Sami?" she groaned, seeing the sugar-high-kid-look on her face.
"Well, yeah," Sami said, waving it off as an annoying fly. "But I got an idea!"
"Uh-oh," James muttered, but quickly dropped his head as Sami gave him a glare.
"I realized how I'm--"
"Uh-oh," Lily said, and Sami was about to tell how unsupporting Lily was as her best friend, when she noticed Lily wasn't even looking at her. In fact, she was looking somewhere behind Sami, and Sami slowly looked around - only to see her sister Meredith and Sirius walk to the Great Hall, hand in hand.
Sami felt her heart drop, and her entire world collapse. She had prepared herself for this; she had practised in front of a mirror to control her facial expressions (Lily said they gave her feelings away), and went through a dialogue in her head when she confronted her sister and Sirius - together.
But what she hadn't prepared herself for, was the mental shock. The feeling of being betrayed - without even having the trust to begin with. Even if she had played it all in her head, nothing could compare to the real thing - seeing Meredith lean up to kiss Sirius on the cheek before going to her own table.
Soon, Sirius was standing in front of her with Remus Lupin next to him.
"Hey, Sami," Remus greeted quietly, a fresh scar across his face.
"Hi," Sami said weakly, her eyes wide as she stared at Sirius.
Sami was mesmerized. There he stood, joking about Lily's hair while Lily looked mildly annoyed, and James laughed loudly at whatever Sirius had said. Sami just stared. Stared at the way his lips moved when he spoke, the way he scratched his head every now and then... it was amazing.
"Have you done the essay yet?" Remus' voice said suddenly from somewhere nearby, and Sami looked around at him, still too giddy to react correctly.
"The-the-the-the-the what?" she stammered, blinking.
"Oh that was so not Rainman!" Lily said loudly, making Sirius chuckle.
Oh. My. God.
"Lily, you coming?" Sami said quickly, and without waiting for an answer, she dragged Lily out, not even once looking back.
"What the heck is your problem?" Lily growled, pulling away from Sami's tight grip.
"He laughed! He laughed at something I said!" Sami squealed excitedly, jumping up and down like a silly school girl.
Which she was.
"Eh?" Lily said, folding her arms. "Sweetie, Sirius Black did
not laugh at what you said. Sami, he laughed at
you!"
"What's the difference? I made him laugh, didn't I?"
"A blind monkey with a Slytherin badge would make him laugh," Lily said dryly. "Now could you
please come out from that small world of yours and start act your own age, and stop being such an arse to other people?"
"Yeah, sure," Sami said faintly, following Lily inside, her head still in the clouds because of Sirius Black.
The rest of the breakfast, Sami spent staring at Sirius Black from the Hufflepuff table, completely forgetting to eat.
