“Hey Alli, Wait up!” James yelled, running down the hallway.
“What’s up?” The distracted Alli asked, looking around slowly with confusion on her face.
“Nothing much, I just have Quiddich practice soon… Do you want to come watch me?” James asked, with a slight blush.
“I can’t right now, I have a lesson with my dad… maybe after. What time do you finish?” Alli asked, suddenly stopping and looking around before resuming her brisk walking again.
“Sure! We finish at three. See you later.” James said, beaming before running back down the hallway.
“Wait!...Damn it.” Alli said as James rounded a corner.
“Lost?” Someone asked from behind her. Alli quickly spun around to see a boy about her age, he had stylish light brown hair and a smirk on his face. Alli couldn’t help but stare, he was gorgeous.
“Yeah. Can you tell me where Professor Vector’s classroom is?” Alli asked, blushing a tad. Usually this type of situation wouldn’t even emparass her, but there was something about his smirk that mortified her and made her feel helpless.
“You’re three floors above it.” He said, laughing slightly.
“Well, if you were a gentleman you’d show me to it.” Alli said, raising her eyebrow flirtatiously,
“Well, I’m no gentleman but I’ll help you anyway.” He flirted back, walking over to her and putting out his hand, “I’m Demetrius by the way, but everyone calls me Dom.”
“Demetrius?” Alli asked, smiling as she shook his outstretched hand.
“Yeah, it was my grandfather’s name.” He said proudly as he lead her back down the hallway she just walked up.
“Nice. Well I’m Alli.”
“I know.” He said simply.
“You know?” Alli asked, raising her eyebrow.
“Everyone knows who you are. Haha You’ve been here less than a month and you’re already one of the most popular girls in the school.” Dom said, chucking slightly.
“Wow. That’s… interesting.” Alli said, smirking.
“This is it.” Dom said, pointing towards a door on the side of the hallway.
“Thanks. Maybe I’ll see you around sometime.” Alli said, smiling.
“You can count on it.” Dom said, kissing her hand before walking away, leaving a shocked and blushing Alli behind.
“Come on Alli, we have a lot of work to do.” Draco said, emerging from the classroom.
“Don’t be gone too long, I hate you being gone while there are Death Eater attacks going on.” Hermione said, kissing Nate goodbye.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be only for three days and anyways last time I was in New York while they attacked Rome. It’s a bit far away.” Nate said, chuckling.
“Ok… I love you. Stay safe.” Hermione said, smiling.
“You too.” Nate said before stepping into the fireplace that Dumbledore opened up for floo powder and left.
“Hey Charlie?” Tom said hesitantly while they were sitting on the floor in the library.
“Yeah?” Charlie said, looking up from her text book.
“Why don’t you play the piano anymore?” Tom asked quietly.
”How do you know about that?” Charlie asked with a slight edge to her voice.
“My dad told me. I saw all your awards, you must have been great!...Why’d you stop?” Tom asked, looking at Charlie with sadness in his eyes.
“I just couldn’t be bothered anymore.” Charlie said, trying to put an end to the conversation.
“That’s not true and you know it. You can tell me anything you know, I won’t tell anyone.” Tom said, trying to get her to open up.
“… because my mom died ok?” Charlie said with tears in her eyes, “She was the one that always cheered me on… the one that was at every competition and helped me practice every night… I guess when she was killed; I just didn’t see the point anymore.”
“I’m sure she wouldn’t have wanted you to just stop…” Tom said gently.
“I tried after she died… it just wasn’t fun anymore.” Charlie said, letting a tear fall down her cheek. Tom was surprised to see the soft side of her. She usually was carefree and fun. She had never really talked to him about her mother.
“What was she like?” Tom asked.
“She was great. My dad died when I was young so it was mainly just me and her. I loved it. Every Saturday we’d go out and have a picnic and she’d tell me stories of creatures I’d never heard of before. When she was younger, she was said to be a dreamer, but after my dad died… she became more sensible and stronger, she had to. I remember one time, the birthday before she died; she woke me up with breakfast in bed and we went to my dad’s grave. After that we went to the beach and just spent the day swimming. When we got back home, in the middle of the living room there was a grand piano. It was my birthday present. I remember the feeling of total shock, and then my mom walking in front of me to the piano and asking for me to play for her…”
“I’m sorry…” Tom said, watching the sadness on his friends face, “How’d she die?”
“Three days before Christmas she was out shopping for presents. I had been bugging her for months to get me a stupid ipod. She and Fred’s wife, Penelope, were walking back together when a stray death eater attacked them. They couldn’t do anything to stop him.”
“Did they catch who ever did it?” Tom asked.
“No, Harry Potter was the one that found them, he caught a glimpse of the Death Eater, but he got away before Potter could catch him.” Charlie said before putting her book down and getting up.
“What’s up?” Tom asked, worried he upset her too much.
“I want some ice cream, do you want some?” Charlie said, back to her own self.
“Er yeah….” The shocked Tom replied before packing away his books and following her out of the library, amazed at how she was acting like that last ten minutes never happened.
“Hermione?” Ginny called out as she entered Hermione’s teaching quarters. She could hear faint music coming out of a closed door to her right. She walked over to it and opened the door to see Hermione dancing while painting. Ginny watched for a couple of seconds before she coughed loudly and got Hermione’s attention.
“Why does everyone catch me doing this?” Hermione said loudly before walking over and hugging Ginny.
“I forgot you paint…” Ginny said while walking around the room, looking at the different paintings she made.
“Yeah, not many people knew about it.” Hermione said, smiling.
“You’ve cirtanly gotten better.”
“Thanks, do you want some tea?” Hermione said, wiping the paint off her hands with a towel.
”Yeah sure.” Ginny said, following her out into the kitchen. “I just came here to talk, we haven’t really gotten a chance since you came back.”
“Yeah, I know.” Hermione said, passing her some tea.
“Is this Nate?” Ginny asked, looking at a picture frame on the coffee table.
“Yeah, that was taken a couple of weeks after we were engaged.” Hermione said, smiling at the picture, “I’m sorry that he wasn’t there at the dinner at your parents, he was on a business trip.”
“He takes those a lot. You better warn him that the death eaters will probably target him now that they found you…” Ginny said, sipping her tea and sitting on the couch.
“Yeah, I warned him.” Hermione said before she looked at Ginny and sighed “I missed you.”
“Yeah, we missed you too.” Ginny said with an edge to her voice.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Hermione asked, raising her eyebrow.
“Look, I didn’t say anything before because you had just gotten home and I didn’t think it was fair but how could you have not called? Even once, to check up I mean for all you knew, you were dead and Voldemort had won.” Ginny said angrily.
“I couldn’t have called! I had the kids to think about, what if the Deatheaters had tracked me?” Hermione asked, her voice rising.
“You mean your child and Draco Malfoy’s child. How could you put his child above all of us?”
“Alli is more mine than anyone elses and who the hell do you think you are, walking in here and judging my choices?!” Hermione said with her voice raised.
“Because of you I nearly lost my brother and my husband!” Ginny screamed.
“That battle wasn’t my fault you bitch!” Hermione screamed back.
“No but it was your fault when Harry spent 24/7 looking for you and not being with his family and when Ron came back and went looking for you! He nearly got himself killed, thinking you were kidnapped by Deatheaters! All the while, you were sitting in a big house with your famous boyfriend.” Ginny said coldly.
“I worked really hard to get a new life! I had to take care of two toddlers, a new business and the face that Ron had died. I only started getting over Ron a year ago when I met Nate. Don’t you try to blame everything on me, yes I was gone but if you and Harry were having problems, it wasn’t my fault. It was yours.” Hermione said, equally as coldly.
“No, WE thought Ron was dead, you didn’t. I could see it in your eyes! Why did you run away? Huh? What, was it because you were afraid that the baby wasn’t his?” Ginny asked.
“What are you talking about?” Hermione shouted, getting really angry.
“You and Draco Malfoy! Were you too together behind Ron’s back? Is that why you took his child and left? Because you thought the baby could be his? I’ve heard about you too together, talking in the hallways like old friends. Is Alli yours too?” Ginny screamed, before receiving a slap from Hermione.
“What the hell is wrong with you.” Hermione whispered, “I’ve never slept with him and I knew Ron’s baby was his own. That’s why I left! I needed to keep the only part of him I had left safe! Now get the hell out of here before I make you.”
“Fine.” Ginny said, glaring at Hermione before going over to her fireplace and flooing away.
“What the hell was that all about…” Hermione whispered before putting her head in her hands and letting out a sob.
Ginny exited a fireplace to see the tavern in Hogsmeade, the Hogs Head. She walked through the sea of mismatched and breaking tables to a door near the bar. She opened the door and walked upstairs into a room, where a man in a hood was already waiting.
“All done.” Ginny said, evilly.
“Good. Now all you’ll remember from this is that you and Hermione had a fight. She was wrong and you were right. And she slapped you.” Said the man in the hood before he took out his wand and pointed it at her temple and took of the imperious curse before knocking Ginny out. The man went over to the coffee table and finished off his drink before apparating away. The man appeared in front of a old worn down looking house that looked like it once could have been considered beautiful. He knocked on the door three times and waited a couple of seconds before the door slowly opened and Lucius Malfoy came out.
“Is it done?” Lucius asked.
“Come in Nathaniel.” Lucius said, as Nate took off his hood, smirking and walked into the house.
