The Ship of Dreams by ladybobcat54
Chapter 5 : On the Deck
Rating: 15+Chapter Reviews: 9

Background:   Font color:

That evening while rose was eating dinner she kept letting her mind drift off, and the place it kept drifting was Scorpius Malfoy. She felt like in the past few days she’d gotten so much closer to him. How long had he been this way? Had he been this way before, but Rose had been to determined to keep him out of her life to notice? These were the questions that haunted her.

“Rose? Rose!” Lily said loudly bringing her back to earth.

“Huh, what?” Rose asked.

“Okay, Rosie, this isn’t like you.” Roxanne said, “You never just lose connection with all reality like this, and yet here you are in your own little world.”

“Sorry,” Rose mumbled.

“What were you thinking about?” Lily asked.

“Is it a guy?” Roxanne asked.

“No,” Rose lied, but Roxanne and Lily knew she was lying.

“Come on, Rose,” Lily pushed her, “spill your guts.”

“What do you guys think of Scorpius?” Rose asked after a long pause.

“He seems allot better then I expected him to be.” Lily said.

“We shouldn’t have judged him by the way his father was.” Roxanne added.

“Yeah,” Rose said accidentally letting her voice have a dreamy tone, which her cousins noticed and confirmed their suspicions with.

“If you like him go find him.” Lily said.

“It’s not that simple.” Rose explained, “I don’t know if he feels the same way.”

“Rose, he’s felt that way for a long, long time.” Roxanne said rolling her eyes.

“Just go talk to him.” Lily insisted.

“Fine, I’ll see you guys later.” Rose said getting up and leaving the first class dining room.

She walked up the first class stairs that you’d often see pictures of if you were looking for pictures of the inside of the ship. As Rose looked at them from the bottom they looked allot like it did in the pictures with people going up and down them in tuxes and evening gowns. As Rose went to walk up the stairs she lifted the bottom of her own gown so that she wouldn’t step on it.

She finally reached the deck. It was getting dark, and the sun was just about to completely disappear over the horizon. Rose knew she would find Scorpius up here, she just had a feeling about it. She was right about this feeling because as she approached the bow she could see a blonde figure standing at the very front of the ship.

Rose walked towards him, and the closer she got the more confident she grew that it was him. Finally she was right behind him.

“Hey,” Rose said quietly, and Scorpius looked around and smiled at the sight of her.

“Hi,” He said, stepping down from the railings he’d been standing on so he could face/see her better, “what are you doing up here?”

“I came here looking for you,” She said smiling, “why are you up here?”

“I’m the kind of person who just likes being outside.” He explained, “being outside just clears my mind.”

“I know what you mean,” Rose said, “I spend probably half of my summer outside, just sitting, clearing my thoughts. There’s just something about it that makes me feel allot calmer when I’m stressed and just need to get away.”

“Exactly,” Scorpius said, “if I’m studying late in the night I’ll just go out in the grounds and sit out by the lake for lord knows how long.”

“Oh yeah, I ran into you out there once and called you a stalker, sorry.” She said.

“It’s okay, I forgive you.” He said.

They stayed out on the deck for quite awhile. Finally they realized how late it must be, and decided to go back to their cabins.

“I’ll walk you back,” Scorpius said as they walked back inside the ship.

“Won’t you get in trouble?” Rose asked.

“Only if I get caught, and I’m not planning on it.” Scorpius said and Rose laughed.

As they walked through the corridors Scorpius felt a strong urge to hold her hand, but he didn’t want to creep her out. When they were outside the door to Rose’s cabin she turned to him.

“Thanks for coming,” Rose said, and she hugged him tightly.

Scorpius hugged her back, and as he did he realized this was the first time they’d had a conversation and not mentioned James once. They heard a door open and looked around to see Lily standing in the doorway in a nightgown staring at them.

“Well, see you tomorrow.” Rose said nervously following her cousin back into the room.

Lily walked straight into Roxanne’s room, and when she was through that door Rose sprinted out into the hall to find Scorpius had only gone a few feet. She tapped his shoulder and when he turned around she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before running back into the cabin blushing a bright Weasley red.

Scorpius watched as Rose ran back into her cabin and closed the door, and he raised his hand absentmindedly to the place on his cheek where she’d kissed him. He could jump with joy right now, he could actually probably do a (for lack of a better word) happy dance. Rose Weasley, the girl he’d had a crush on for so long was actually showing signs of liking him back. Nothing could ruin this moment.

He got back to his cabin and Fred and Hugo were quick to notice that he was unnaturally happy. When they asked him why this was he just kept smiling widely and climbed into his top bunk. Scorpius didn’t fall asleep quickly, though. He spent what felt like hours lying awake thinking about Rose. He did eventually get to sleep, and when he woke up the next morning he was the first awake.

When Rose got up the next morning and walked out into the sitting room she saw Lily and Roxanne sitting there already waiting for her.

“So?” Lily asked grabbing Rose by the arm and throwing her into an arm chair.

“So, what?” Rose asked confused.

“You’re telling us what happened with Scorpius last night and you are gonna like it.” Roxanne said fiercely.

“No I won’t,” Rose said back crossing her arms.

“Quit being a smart ass and just tell us!” Lily ordered.

Eventually Rose broke down and told them what happened.

“Wow, looking back it’s really hard to believe you couldn’t stand him before all of this.” Lily said as Rose finished.

“I know,” Rose said, “to me this is the only way James’ stupidity is good, but it’s still not worth dieing.”

“Yeah, you, Scorpius, and James are the only ones benefiting from this whole situation.” Lily said sadly.

“You three benefit and the rest of us worry about dieing.” Roxanne said solemnly.

“Well, actually if you think about it me and Scorpius only benefited from this because of worrying about James’ stupid move.” Rose explained.

Louis and Albus were sitting in on their beds complaining about James after he’d left to find Mia. Right in the middle of their long session of endless complaints there was a knock on the door, and Fred entered.

“Hey,” He greeted them as he walked in, “either of you seen Scorpius today?”

“No, why?” Albus asked.

“He showed up reasonably late last night and was extremely happy about something, but he won’t tell us what happened.” Fred explained.

There was another knock on the door, and seconds later Roxanne came in.

“Hey,” She greeted them and then she caught sight of her brother, “are you here to tell them about Rose and Scorpius?” She asked him and Fred looked taken aback.

“What about Rose and Scorpius?” He asked suspiciously.

“You mean he didn’t tell you?” She asked and he shook his head.

“Tell me what?” Fred asked.

“Rose and Scorpius were up on the deck last night for hours,” Roxanne explained to the three boys, “she, like Scorpius, came back very happy. This morning me and Lily got her to talk, and it sounds like there’s something going on between them.”

James walked up on the deck of the ship. The sun had risen reasonably high, but there was only one other person on the deck. Mia was standing by the railing. She smiled at him as he approached her. Without a word James took her hand and led her to the very front of the ship where the railings from both sides came together.

“Close your eyes.” James said quietly and Mia obliged.

When her eyes were James took her hand and told her to take a step up. He helped her stand on the bottom rail, and once she was up James stepped up behind her. He gently took her hands off the rail and spread them wide, and putting his own on her waist.

“Open your eyes.” James whispered.

“Oh my God,” Mia said when she opened her eyes and saw the ocean spread out in front of her. She eventually turned her head so that her their noses were almost touching and said quietly, “James this is amazing.” And with that she kissed him.

A/N: So, how is it so far? I felt like the chapter needed more so instead of waiting until the next chapter for the James/Mia scene I added it to the end here so there would be a little James/Mia. The idea for that scene came from the movie Titanic, so that belongs to them not me.
