Rose had been looking through her many suitcases and trunks unable to believe every thing she had. There were dresses galore, not to mention purses, hats, and shoes. Lily and Roxanne had found the same things as Rose.
Down in second class James, Louis, and Albus were seeing what they had. All three found that the only shoes they had were the ones currently on their feet and they had several pairs of pants, knee high socks with old person patterns, button up shirts, a brown jacket, and a brown hat like those you think of news boys wearing.
Down in third class Scorpius, Hugo, and Fred looked through their tattered suitcases. They each had one, and each one barely had anything. They each possessed the clothes on their backs, a tattered wool coat, and that’s about it.
“Hey, why don’t we go upstairs and see how the girls are doing in first class.” Scorpius suggested.
“Yes, yes, yes, and…um…yes!” Fred said quickly.
And with that the three boys went up to where the girls were staying in first class. They had a few issues finding the room, but they found it eventually.
“Oh, hey guys.” Roxanne greeted them.
“Merlin, you guys have a sitting room?” Fred asked his sister as they walked in.
“Yeah,” Rose said coming out of her room with Lily.
“Next you’re going to tell us you actually have a bathroom!” Fred said angrily.
“Yeah, don’t you?” Lily asked.
“We have a sink,” Hugo explained, “in the main part of the tiny room where our beds are.”
“Wow,” The girls said together.
Before they could continue there was a knock on the door.
“Come in,” Rose called and the door opened, reveling a man in a tux.
“Ladies, I’m here to inform you that dinner is about begin up in the dining room and…” But the man broke off when he saw the third class boys, “What are they doing here?”
Roxanne looked at Fred before speaking, “He’s my brother.”
“And he’s mine.” Rose said gesturing to Hugo.
“I don’t care!” The man said sharply, “They are third class and aren’t to be up here, if they have any sense of self preservation. How did you three get up here anyway?”
“We walked from our room.” Scorpius said bluntly.
“Well, walk back down!” The man ordered, “This time you might not be so lucky, we barely like it when second class comes up here, but it’s more tolerable.”
The guys left the room and as they walked through the first class corridors they were taunted by many of the aristocrats. When they were finally down to second class, and found the room shared by James, Louis, and Albus.
“What do you mean they won’t let you up there?!” James asked after Fred explained what happened.
“Exactly that.” Fred said bitterly.
“Are we allowed to go up there?” Louis asked.
“Yeah, they said they aren’t fond of the idea, but second class is okay, it’s third they can’t stand.” Scorpius explained.
“Well, why don’t we go up and see them?” Albus suggested to James and Louis.
“You can go up, but you won’t find them.” Hugo said, “They went to dinner.”
“Well, we can go find them later,” James said dismissively, “but right now I’m hungry too.”
“You guys go on ahead,” Scorpius said, “I’m going to go up on deck for a while and figure things out.”
“Alright, feel free to catch up later.” Hugo said.
Scorpius left the room and walked blindly up to the deck. It was pretty cold outside, but he didn’t think it was cold enough to back down to his freezing room. He walked over to the stern and stared down into the water.
How could he be separated from Rose like this? She probably wasn’t sorry, though. She never did like me. He never had a chance with her. Just as he thought this, he was joined by a girl with reddish-brown hair. Scorpius tilted his head to get a better look at her face. It was Rose.
“Hey,” He said casually, and she looked at him full in the face.
“Hi,” She said weakly.
“Is something wrong?” Scorpius asked.
“My cousins a bonehead, you know that?” Rose said angrily, “Making us stay on this ship when he knows it’s going to crash and burn! James is an idiot!”
“I’m sure he meant well.” He said trying to calm her.
“All he was thinking about was himself and his own crazy dream.” She said bitterly, “He’s thought about being on the Titanic before it sank before, and he always thought it would be so amazing, and now that he can make it reality he’s putting our lives at stake!”
“I’m sure we’ll be gone before it hit’s the ice berg.” He reassured.
“But we don’t know that.” Rose said fearfully, “If he tries to live out this ‘dream’ long enough we’ll go down with the Titanic!”
Scorpius had thought of this too, but he’d pushed it to the back of his mind. But now, the thought was back and it was worse then ever.
After he finished eating James went up to the deck at the stern, the same place Rose and Scorpius had been earlier. Now it was dark, and the only light was that of the lamps on the deck. James, like Scorpius, was also joined by a girl within moments. Only James didn’t know said girl.
She had auburn hair and deep blue eyes. By the way she was dressed James could assume that she too was riding in second class. She’d sat down next to him on the bench, and after a few minutes looked him full in the face, and smiled.
“Hello,” She said.
“Hi,” James said smiling back at her, “I’m James.”
“I’m Amelia.” She said with a sparkle in her eyes.
“Can I call you Mia?” He asked.
“I don’t see why not.”
When James walked back into the room he shared with Albus and Louis that night he flopped down on his bed smiling broadly. Al and Louis were sitting on there own beds talking across the room, but now they were staring at James.
“You seem awfully happy for someone who could be leading many people to their deaths.” Al said irritated, but James didn’t seem to register this.
“I just met the most amazing girl up on the deck.” James said sitting up.
“What’s her name?” Louis asked worried.
“Mia,” James said as he got up and walked into the bathroom and shut the door.
“Well, we’re screwed.” Louis said turning back to his other cousin.
~~~Meanwhile in Third Class~~~
Scorpius was lying on the top bunk of one of the bunk beds. Fred was on the other top bunk and Hugo was on the bottom below Scorpius.
“So, basically my sister’s equally angry about this.” Hugo summarized what Scorpius had just said.
“Pretty much,” Scorpius said, “She’s positive we’re going down with the ship.”
“Rose and I have that in common.” Fred said staring up at the ceiling, “It’s freezing down here, you know that.”
“Yeah, I know, these sheets aren’t doing there job.” Scorpius said from under his own this sheet.
