My two most favorite female companions and I were planning Operation Spend Greatly Needed Quality Time With Marty Much to the Joy of Alex. Operation SGNQTWMMJA for short. I’d make a great spy, don’t you think? I may not be the fastest person in the world, or the most coordinated, or the quietest, but let me tell you, I can roll with the best of ‘em.
“Addie, are you okay?” Ellie asked.
“Fine, why do you ask?”
“Well out of nowhere you started singing the Mission Impossible Song and then you started rolling around on the ground.”
Ellie was a muggleborn, she would recognize that song. You know, I really have to stop letting my crazy side out. It tends to frighten people.
“Oh, sorry about that.” I replied sheepishly. “Where were we?”
“We,” Alex began impatiently. “Were about to write a letter to Marty to tell him when and where to meet us.”
“Brilliant! Now when and where will that be?” I asked.
“Adrianne Weller, where have you been for the last ten minutes?” she yelled at me.
“We’re going to meet him at the Leaky Cauldron at 1 o’clock on Thursday.” Ellie said, trying to hide her smile.
“What’s today, Wednesday?” I always lose track of time in the summer.
“That it is, now go write to Marty!” Alex yelled.
“Okay, okay. No need to get shirty with me.”
I found some parchment and began writing:
How are you this fine afternoon? I’m writing in response to your latest letter, the one you sent about an hour ago. First off, what makes you think we want to hang out with you? I mean, I thought we made it clear how much we hate you. I hopped you would finally get the message when we stopped writing. Well, let me spell it out for you: we hate you and never want to see you again!
Meet us at the Leaky Cauldron tomorrow at 1o’clock, which if you convert to Addie time is 2:30.
Lots of Love,
(and Ellie and Alex, but mostly Addie)
P.S. Alex misses you terribly
After sending my letter off with James’ owl, whom I named sprinkles, I went back downstairs to start dinner. Tonight was Mexican Night and I was making tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and maybe some chili. After obtaining all the ingredients I started to work.
“Who wants to help me cook?” I yelled from the kitchen “The fat from the ground beef won’t drain itself!”
Sirius was the only volunteer. Apparently my other so called friends were too good to help with dinner. Well, we’ll see who’s laughing after they eat. After all, I AM the one who prepares their meals. My hand might just slip when I add the hot sauce.
“Addie, you’re doing it again.”
“Did I do that out loud? Whoops.”
“Right……..so what are we making?” He asked me.
“¡Es Noche Mexicana!” I yelled. “¡FIESTA!”
With a flick of my wand the entire kitchen was transformed into a huge………colorful………thing. I don’t quite know how to explain it. It had streamers, and enchanted piñatas, and confetti, and mariachi music. I even transfigured our clothes to add to the theme. Sirius was dressed like a matador with a big black sombrero, and I was wearing a long red flamenco dress.
“¿Dónde está el queso?” I asked him.
Hmmmmm, where did I put the cheese? Ah, here it is. Now back to work.
“Addie,” Sirius began in a serious tone (no pun intended). “I’m sorry about before, I…”
“Sirius, its fine. We all dislike people and you can hate whomever you want. Now start to brown the ground beef.”
*A Significant Amount of Time Later*
Everything was finished, but the chili. It still had to simmer for about 10 more minutes.
“Well,” he announced. “We’ve got ten minutes to kill, what now?”
“Oh, I know!! Dance with me!!” I said as I pulled him out of his chair.
“What?” he asked, incredulous.
“Come on, dance with me! It’ll be fun, you know you want to.”
“Alright then, I mean, I am the master of the dance.” He said striking a pose.
“Right, well the only problem is that I don’t know how to tango, or salsa, or any other kind of dance.”
“Nonsense.” He twirled me. “Just follow my lead.”
After the first couple of songs I finally got the hang of it. We were dancing and laughing, and having so much fun. The clothes I had us in were really added to the enjoyment. The song ended and Sirius dipped me just when the timer for the chili went off. I started laughing. And laughing. My laughter caused Sirius to laugh, and pretty soon we were both on the ground from laughing so hard (Luckily, I managed to take the chili off the heat, first). That is how James, Alex, and Ellie found us.
“What the bloody hell is going on in here?” James asked. “Why is my kitchen filled with glitter, why are you on the ground, and WHAT may I ask, are you wearing?”
“Es Noche Mexicana. Tenemos que bailar.” I told him clutching my stomach in hysterics. “What did you expect?”
Sirius and I stayed to clean after dinner. I returned the room to its original state while Sirius charmed the sink to wash all the dishes. After we finished, I noticed I was still in my dress. Sirius seemed to notice to because he turned on the music and grabbed my hand. We danced and laughed until I couldn’t stand up anymore. Somehow, we ended up in the family room, so Sirius and I sat down on the couch. I looked at the clock which read 1:57 AM.
“Well, I’d say it’s time to call it a night, but my room is way too far away, and this couch is soooooooo comfortable.” I announced.
“I completely agree, and seeing as my room is even further away, I think I might just stay here tonight.” He said lying down.
I got into my usual position as Sirius draped last night’s blanket over us. I was asleep as soon as I closed my eyes.
“Déjà vu” I said waking up.
“Yeah, really.” Sirius agreed.
“What time is it?” I asked, yawning.
“According to that clock, it’s 7:03.”
“Which is way too early.” I told him. “I’m going back to bed.”
I lied back down with my head on his chest. He put his arms around me. I really feel like this happened before.
“What day is it today?” I asked still half asleep.
“I think its Thursday, why, you doing something?”
“Yeah, Alex and Ellie and I are going to the Leaky Cauldron.”
“What, not inviting James and me then?” He said in a mock accusatory tone.
“I don’t think you’ll want to come.” I laughed.
“Why ever not?”
“Because there will be what you consider ‘less than ideal’ company.”
“It’s Marty isn’t it?” he said. “Why do you hang out with him?”
“Why do you hate him so much?” I asked. “What did he ever do to you?”
I would have sat up to help prove my point, but I was too lazy.
“I asked first.”
“I asked better questions.”
Ha! I definitely won that little altercation.
“He’s just……………I don’t know.” He told me while playing with my curls. “There’s just something about him.”
“Well you may hate him, for no legitimate reason might I add, but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s still my friend. Nor does it change the fact that I am going to hang out with him today. So sulk all you want, my friend. Just don’t do it now. You’re emotions are disturbing my sleep.”
He laughed and wrapped his arms around me.
“Sirius, can I ask you something?”
“Sure, I’ll even let you ask me another question.”
“Oh, you’re soooooooo funny.”
“You love me.”
“Keep telling yourself that. But anyway, why is it that you seem to hate any guy that talks to me? James and Remus do it, too.”
He seemed to ponder his answer.
“We just don’t want you to get hurt, Addie. Trust me, I’m a guy, we’re all the same way. We only care about one thing.”
“Thanks for the life lesson, Mom, but I’m 16 now. I think I can handle myself.”
“We’re only doing it because we care about you.”
“I know. Now be quiet. It’s only 7:30 and I want to sleep.”
“Goodnight Addie.” He laughed.

“You mean my Sex Pistols shirt?” James yelled.
It was true; I did steal it from him. But come on, he hardly ever wore it!
“Yes! Where is it?”
“In my trunk where it belongs!”
“Doesn’t matter, I’ll just steal it back once we’re at school!”
