Tears, idle tears, I know not what they mean,

Tears from the depth of some divine despair

Rise in the heart, and gather to the eyes,

Tears, Idle Tears by Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Chapter 3: The Almost Moon

Emmy sat in the hospital, in all the time I knew her she was always a fiddler. She could never keep still. Continuously she would wring her hands out anxiously waiting for any news about her parents. Jacinda was in the seat beside Emmy, she kept shaking. I am only eleven mom and dad can’t leave me, she thought hopefully.

‘Emmy, do you think they will be okay?’ Jacinda asked tears already forming in her hazel eyes.

‘Of course they will. Anyway as I said before will always always be there for you know matter what!’

Emmy put her arm around her little sister and held her tight.

‘You know Emmy, I think you are the best sister in the whole world and I love you.’

‘Thanks Jacinda and I love you too.’

The doctor emerged from the room where her parents where brought to. He waved Emmy over.

‘Ms Emmaline, I am very sorry. There was nothing we could do. Gerard Browning was dead when we were at your house and Eleanor was still breathing but was just pronounced dead. We are so sorry, if there is anything you would like us to do for you, please feel free to ask. Now as you are of age you are allowed to look after Jacinda.’

‘Thank you, doctor for all your help. Do you mind if Jacinda and I go and see our parents?’

‘No that’s fine. Would you like me to tell Jacinda or would you like to?’

‘I will tell her.’

Emmy walked away from the doctor, she felt every step she made. It was just so unbelievable; her parents were DEAD!

‘Emmy, are they okay? Can we go and see them?’

How do you tell your little sister that your parents are dead? Emmy thought.

Letting the tears flow freely from her bluey/grey eyes she said,

‘They are gone, Cindy. Mom and Dad are dead.’

‘NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I…..they…..Emmy……Mom…Dad.’

Jacinda collapsed into Emmy’s arms.

‘Why did God, take them? Why did that thief shoot them?’

Tears streamed down there cheeks, Emmy did her best to comfort her sister.

It was 1:51 am when the girls arrived back home, thankfully the doctor had driven them home. Coming into the family home was so different without Gerard and Eleanor. It was just the two of them now, and the place they’d called home became a stranger’s place to the girls.

Emmy dropped her bag on the floor and hung up her coat on the hook. She then walked into the lounge room and sat at her beautiful wooden piano forte her dad had brought her. Opening up her music book she began to play her mother’s favourite song ‘Fur Elise’. Jacinda came and sat with her on the piano stool, gently leaning her head on Emmy’s shoulder.

The girls school supplies lay on the floor and as they sat the clock chimed 2’0 clock.

‘Cindy, we have to go to bed. Tomorrow well I mean today is going to be a big day. Come on.’

Emmy walked Jacinda to her room, kissed her on the head and said,

‘Goodnight, I love you.’

‘Goodnight Emmy, I love you too.’

Emmy walked into her own room and sighed. Her room looked exactly the same even though everything had changed. Putting on her flannelette pj’s, she then pulled down the covers of her king sized bed and turned the light off.

‘Emmy, can I sleep with you?’

‘Of course Cindy.’

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep Beep, Beep, Beep.

‘Oh no, Please God. CINDY WAKE UP! It’s 10:20 am. We have to be at kings cross in 40 minutes.’

Jacinda woke up and they quickly scrambled around the room.

‘I go get my trunk and school stuff and meet you in the kitchen.’

Emmy nodded as her sister left her room. Thankfully she had already piled all her school books and clothes in there she just had to decide which books she was going to bring to Hogwarts.

‘Umm. Oh damn I can’t chose.’

So she pointed her wand at the bookcase and shrunk it so it would fit in her hand, then put the bookcase in her trunk. Emmy shut the trunk and quickly ran out of her room and into the kitchen.

‘Emmy you still have you night clothes on.’

Looking down she realised that she hadn’t changed. Emmy ran back up to her room and put on her Minnie mouse t-shirt, a multi coloured skirt, yellow stockings and her red ballet flats. With one last look at her room she ran down to the kitchen, picked up her bag and red coat then her and Jacinda made there way to the family car. Once the trunks were inside the car, Emmy drove to Kings cross station.

They quickly ran inside the station looking for Platform’s 9 and 10.

‘Emmy now what do we do?’

‘We have to run as fast as we can at the wall. Ready, set, go.’

The two girls ran at the wall and smiled at the sight of the scarlet engine; the Hogwarts Express. Emmy looked at the clock,

‘It’s 1 minute till 11. Come on Cindy.’

They hastily climbed aboard the train and walked down the aisle trying to find an empty compartment.

‘Emmy, I found one.’

The two girls rushed into the compartment and shut the door. Emmy put both there trunks away, then sat down and opened Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt and began to read. While Jacinda lay next to her and fell asleep on her shoulder.

~*~*~*~

James Ryan Potter walked down the aisle with his best friends Sirius Callum Black and Remus Trey Lupin. The three friends along with Peter Petigrew made up the infamous Maraduers who were well known among Hogwarts students for there hilarious pranks and handsome good looks (Peter was not renowned for the latter).

James put a hand through his messy black hair and smiled at a hufflpuff girl who walked past. He had always liked Lily Evans, but over the summer he matured a bit, realising she meant no when she said she wouldn’t go out with him.

‘Prongs, this compartment only has two people. All the rest are full mate.’ Sirius alleged to James.

‘Alright, come on guys.’

So the Maraduers entered the compartment, put there trunks away and sat down.

James looked over at the two girls, neither had notice them enter. One had black hair, bluey/grey eyes, pale skin and was wearing a white coat, a t-shirt with a mouse on it, a multi coloured skirt, yellow stockings and red shoes. She was oblivious to James staring at her as she was reading some weird book called Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin. James the glanced at the girl asleep on her shoulder she had greeny/blue eyes, pale skin and dark brown hair, the girl only looked like she would be a 1st year. She wore a black coat, a white t-shirt, jeans and black shoes.

‘Do you know them Remus?’

Remus laughed why they always asked him I they didn’t know a person, he would never understand, although he did know who the girl with the book was.

‘The girl reading is Emmaline Browning, 7th year, ravenclaw. I presume the girl asleep is her sister.’

‘I didn’t know she was in our year, how come we have never noticed her before?’ Sirius asked his three friends, curious as to why he had never seen her in class.

‘Well, she looks strange doesn’t she? Very weird, I’d say and she is a Ravenclaw.’ Peter exclaimed.

‘What’s wrong with Ravenclaw’s?’ Emmy asked finally noticing the three boys in her compartment, she closed her book and looked at Peter,

‘Go on I’m listening.’

‘Well they’re different, bizarre, odd, smart and weird.’ Peter finished, Sirius, James and Remus all looked at him in disgust.

‘So we are well I am I haven’t a clue about the others in Ravenclaw. Oh please forgive me I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Emmy Browning and this is my sister Jacinda, I ‘m sorry I don’t know who you are?’

Sirius looked at her incredulously,

‘How can you not know who we are? I am the Sirius Black.’

‘Oh Sirius Black, are you that guy from Slytherin?’

‘WHAT? I am from Griffindor. I hate Slytherin!’

‘Sorry, Sirius Black from Griffindor. I presume the rest of you are Griffindors as well?’

James was next to speak,

‘Yes. My name is James Potter and this is Remus Lupin and Peter Petigrew.’

‘Hello all, pleasure to have your acquaintance. Now are you 7th years?’

‘Yes.’ Remus answered. Emmy sat back and pulled her book in front of her and continued reading.

‘I agree with her, she is really strange!’ Sirius whispered to the others who all laughed.

The boys soon left to change into there robes, so Emmy hurriedly changed into her own robes, then woke Jacinda up telling her to do the same.

It was in next to no time the train had stopped for all the passengers to get off. Emmy and Jacinda quickly left the train and walked away with there trunks, they stopped near a tree as Emmy had to get on a carriage and Jacinda had to leave with the other first years on the boats.

They hugged for what seemed like forever.

‘Emmy, what if I don’t get in Ravenclaw? I have to be with you.’ Jacinda supposed tears forming in her eyes.

Emmy held onto her hands,

‘Listen to me Cindy, I will always be with you no matter what house you are in. They will never break us apart.’

The girls embraced each other one last time before parting, they waved goodbye to each other then went in different directions. Emmy climbed into a carriage and prayed to God that her sister would be in Ravenclaw.

The carriage ride was over as quick as it had begun and she quickly ran through the entrance doors to Hogwarts. Oh, how she love Hogwarts, it was her home, especially now her parents were gone, she needed it more than ever, Emmy thought as she trapsed through the Great hall and sat at the Ravenclaw table. None of the other Ravenclaws liked her for some strange reason, which she couldn’t understand.

Alas, it was time for the sorting. Emmy sat with her toes crossed, legs crossed, arms crossed and both fingers, anxiously awaiting her Jacinda’s sorting.

‘Edmund Boge’

‘SLYTHERIN’

‘Jacinda Browning’

Emmy watched in anticipation as her sister put the old hat on her head.

A/N Cliffy, sorry guys I just wanted you to wait and find out in chapter 4. Please review, every single review means a lot to me honestly. I promise there will be more Snape/Emmy in the coming chapters.
