Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter. I just own the plot and any original characters that you do not recognize. Author's Note: Well, here's Chapter 19. It's shorter than the past few chapters, but hopefully the quality and importance will be what makes it just as good. Enjoy.
Chapter Nineteen
Revelations and Findings
A Dark Fortress in an Unknown Location –
The middle-aged man that was known as the new dark lord sat in his quarters at the fortress that he was using as his headquarters. In his hands was a cube with swirling white mist that would occasionally turn from a light blue to a bright, electric blue and back to white again before anything happened. This would only made him even more determined and the mist would immediately start to turn back to blue.
Nothing more happened except for about forty-five minutes. The Tempus Caliga hummed and one side of the glass surface formed a kind of panel where he could put in the year in which he was wanting to pay a visit to. Without doing much thinking except what he had to do, the new dark lord put in the year that a certain dark wizard had became largely known and even more inhuman, back in the 1990s.
When he finished putting in the year the mist in the cube begun to spin and swirl in rapid circles inside of the cube. The color of the mist was a bright red as it spun and spun. The dark lord watched this process as it lifted him up before he vanished from the fortress and went hurtling head first through time and space. He passed time vortexes, time holes, stars, planets, and time storms before he was pushed – or was it pulling at him – into one of the swirling time vortexes.
At that moment he chose to blink and when he was finished blinking he was standing in front of a dark, tall tower. The sides of the tower were a stone gray, the windows long and arched at the top of each, the door was huge – like one from an old fantasy tale about knights, kings, and queens – with cloaked guards standing in front, and there was also a deep moat surrounding the tower.
The new dark lord made his way across the bridge that was built above the moat and walked up to the guards; death eaters. The guards had their arms crossed in front of their bodies as they stared at him with curiosity. He stopped in front of one of the guards and spoke, “I’m here to see your master.”
The guard nodded his head in response and led him through the huge doors. The inside of the tower was cold, dark, and dank. It was in the same condition that he remembered it to be in when he had first joined the ranks of his master. He had slowed to a stop to avoid running to the guard that was now standing outside of the room that he knew to be his master’s.
After the guard had walked off, the new dark lord knocked on the door with a sense of purpose for being there. He didn’t appear to look shocked as the door had just opened after his third knock of its own accord. Knowing that this meant that he was allowed to enter the room he walked over the threshold of the doorway and the door shut automatically as he was now completely inside the room and was now looking at the most powerful and dangerous dark wizard of all time. The scarlet pupils, pale skin, contorted facial features, evil smirk, and those exceptionally long white fingers. He was looking at Lord Voldemort, his former master.
“I have traveled from the year 2018,” the new dark lord started before continuing on. “In the year of 1998, Harry Potter defeats you by sending your own killing curse right back towards you in the great hall of Hogwarts, where the final battle takes place. If you wish to avenge him, I can take you back to the future with me.”
Lord Voldemort stared at the new dark lord in a menacing glower, as if trying to decide if what he had said was some kind of twisted, made-up lie. Though, he looked into his mind and saw that everything the death eater said was true. But should he go into the future when he could easily fix everything when the tables start to turn on him by succeeding in killing Harry Potter.
The new dark lord watched the former widely known dark lord in silence. He could see that his master was thinking this over thoroughly. Though, while he watched Voldemort think he couldn’t help but think how Voldemort would surely take the spotlight off of himself when he all of a sudden appeared in the future. He had worked hard to gain that attention and that fresh terror. Did he really want to give it all back to Voldemort?
The new dark lord left the room suddenly. He could hear the cooling high voice of Voldemort as he made his way through the tower and back outside. Once he was back outside he used the time cube to travel back to 2018.
When the dark lord fell from the time vortex, back onto the cold stone floor of the fortress he stood and summoned all of his followers into the room. He was going to take this a bit more seriously than he had. He no longer wished to have help from someone that had reigned over the magical world. This was a new time and more importantly, it was a time for a new dark wizard to take over.
As winter turned into spring the students at Hogwarts started to spend more time in the grounds during free periods and on the weekends. Flowers had blossomed, birds were chirping their own tunes, the snow was completely gone to show the green grass that had been buried underneath, and the students’ workloads grew to alarming heights.
It was Saturday afternoon and there was a quidditch game. It was Gryffindor vs. Hufflepuff. Albus sat in the stands with his friends as he watched Gryffindor and Hufflepuff fight to stay in the running for the Quidditch World Cup. Both teams were doing quite well. Gryffindor was just in the lead by ten points, the score being 70-60.
The game had been going on for only twenty minutes and it was already in full-swing. Albus turned his attention to the commentary being ran by Malcolm like in normally was. Malcolm was losing his breath as he tried to keep up with everything that was happening in the game,
“It’s Potter with the quaffle and passes to Greggors, who – ouch.” A bludger had just hit Jessica Greggors, causing her to drop the quaffle and one of the Hufflepuff players beneath her caught it. “Bludger sent by Hufflepuff beater, Macmillan. Weasley, that’s Fred, sends a bludger flying at Macmillan and it finds its target. Ouch.”
The game was over after another ten minutes when Gryffindor seeker, Nichols caught the golden snitch. The Gryffindors were happy and there was a party in the common room that night. For the first time since the attack on Hogwarts or muggle London the students were acting carefree without a care in the world.
Though, four first years were still thinking and talking about what they had found out in one of the corners as everyone else was having fun around them.
“Do you think he has figured out how to use it, yet?” asked Rose.
“Probably,” replied Albus. “Though, there might be a bit of a possibly that he still hadn’t figured it out.”
Rose looked worried. “Okay, say he does figure out how to use it,” she started, “then he could possibly go back in time and change something drastic from happening or something much worse.”
“Like what?” asked Scorpius. “He’s already proved that he can outrun the aurors by getting away the last night he was here with his followers. What could be much worse than that?”
“I don’t know.”
Nathan looked at his three friends before he opened his mouth to say something. “I think we should go over what we’ve found so far to try to guess why he wanted the Tempus Caliga.”
“That’s a great idea,” replied Albus. “So, let’s start with the abandoned classroom.”
“The Tempus Caliga was in the wardrobe,” said Rose. “You two found the Dark Mark carved into one of the desks with initials underneath it.”
“Now, we just have to figure out if the two are in any way connected,” said Scorpius.
“I think it is,” put in Rose. “Think about it, the time cube is found in a room that just so happens to have the dark mark carved into one of the desks. It’s pretty suspicious.”
“Yeah, it is,” replied Albus.
“And the dark mark was whose mark?” Scorpius asked as he looked around the table at his friends. Instead of waiting for a response, he answered his own question. “You-Know-Who.”
“My dad says that fear of name brings on more fear then the actual person or thing itself,” said Albus. “You shouldn’t be afraid to say his name when he has long been dead.”
“I suppose you’re right,” said Scorpius. He then mumbled, “Voldemort.”
Rose replied, “I think your guess that Voldmort carved in that dark mark could be very possible.”
“Yeah,” agreed Nate.
Albus nodded his head. Then a thought struck like a bolt of lightning. That thought was in regards to whether or not the new dark lord wanted the Tempus Caliga to possible go into the past to get Voldemort’s help on something. But it was incredibly far-fetched.
Albus decided he should still share this thought with his friends. He voiced it and they agreed with him that it was far-fetched, but they still said that it was still a good thought. Though, before they could discuss this any further Professor Longbottom came into the common room to tell everyone that they’d celebrated the win over Hufflepuff long enough and that they should all go to bed. All the students grumbled as they made their ways up either of the two staircases to go to bed.
Harry had been searching for the hide-out of the new dark lord and his followers since the attack on muggle London. He hadn’t had much luck, but earlier that day he had found something. The something being that there appeared to be dark spells and enchantments cast around an area in the mountains that wasn’t there before. He was going to check out tonight with a group of his aurors.
Harry looked at his watch to see that it was quarter ‘til six. He decided he’d go home early tonight since he would be working later this evening. He knew Ginny would be angry with him if he didn’t come home for dinner.
He walked down the Atrium and apparated home. He could smell dinner being fixed by their house elf as he walked in the door and could hear Lily giggling. Harry followed the sounds of his daughter to find his wife tickling her on their couch. It was a few minutes until they noticed him and Lily ran into his arms.
“Daddy!” she squealed. “You’re home!”
“Yes, I am indeed home.”
Ginny walked over where her husband was standing with Lily in his arms to give him a kiss. She smiled when her daughter squirmed out of Harry’s arm to get away from her two kissing parents. Ginny could feel Harry wrap his arms around her and then put his hand on her protruding belly.
“How’s this little one?” he asked her with a smile on his face and his green eyes twinkling into her brown eyes.
“A little active,” she smiled at her husband.
“Get a room!” said the small voice of their nine-year-old daughter.
The two parents laughed and Harry had bent down to tickle her. Lily collapsed to the ground in a fit of giggles, gasping for air and begging her dad to stop.
This went on until their house elf, Bubbles, called them in the kitchen for dinner. The three of them walked into the kitchen to the smell of chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, apple pie, and a few other things. Dinner was eventful and fun as all three ate.
When they were finished eating, Harry told Ginny that he would be going out tonight with a group of his aurors to check out a location. She had told him to be careful and to try to come home at a reasonable hour, even though she knew he probably would get held up with checking out where ever he was going.
Harry had been searching the area with his aurors for forty-five minutes. They hadn’t found anything yet. He would run his wand over different sections of land and such while muttering under his breath just to make sure they were in the right area. Each time he found that there were charms and enchantments that were there to protect something. The magic that had been used was clearly dark magic.
A few more minutes passed before Harry pulled back a bush to reveal a towering dark fortress. He motioned for his aurors to follow him as they silently approached after putting disillusionment charms on one another.
Before they could reach the front, however, at least a dozen black cloaked persons came running towards them. They whipped their wands out to prepare themselves for combat as the followers closed in on them.
The aurors fought back just as hard as the followers were. A vengeance in the air as curses went flying between light and dark.
It wasn’t long before the aurors had tied and bound half of the followers and the rest had fled to the safety of the fortress.
Harry had a few of his aurors take the six that they had captured back to the ministry and lock them in the holding cells. After that, he and his remaining aurors tried to find a way to force entrance into the fortress. It was proving rather difficult until they tried a set of doors which led down to the dungeons.
The dungeons were cold, dark, damp, and a musty smell hung in the air around all of the aurors. The aurors strengthened their disillusionment charms before putting up their hoods as to try to blend into their surroundings before leaving the dungeons. They were careful to remain in the shadows and not cause any noise as they crept up to where they could hear movement in one of the rooms.
When they got to the room they silently listened to whoever was in there telling the followers about another attack. They couldn’t exactly hear what was being said, though. Occasionally they would hear a word that was spoken loud enough for them to hear.
All of a sudden, they could hear the sound of footsteps walking towards the door as though they had been found out and they watched the doorknob as it turned, knowing that on the other side someone was about to open the door.
Author's Note: Well, there you have it. It's not the best chapter, at least I don't think so. I probably could have done better if my schedule hasn't been full with classes and work. Though, that's not a good enough excuse.
Hopefully something will come to me and I'll have a nice long chapter for you next time I post. I still want to know what you thought of this chapter, whether you hated it or loved it or thought it was all right by leaving me a review.
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that I've been made a trusted author. -yeep- That means that the only waiting for upcoming chapters you'll have is waiting on me to finish writing them. -smiles-
Thanks for taking the time to read and please let me know what you thought.
