"You look radiant, Miss Zabini" Hermione turned to the voice to find Professor Dumledore smiling down at her with Draco still on her arm. Hermione smiled at her Professor as Draco stood by her side, giving him a very curt nod.
"Thank you very much, Professor. So glad you could come tonight" Hermione smiled.
"Oh and miss this? Did you know they give away free lemon drops... perhaps.. I shall excuse myself for one of those.. chocolate frogs... yes... I think I will.. Happy birthday, Miss Zabini, and please forgive my rude departure.." Professor Dumbledore said hoping away towards the candy that lay before him. Draco's elegant eyebrow shot in the air.
"The old man can still eat candy, what a miracle" Draco laughed.
"Yes well, he's more of a wizard then you" Hermione hissed.
"Don't start, nows not the place or the time, and you know that, both our parents are watching" Draco said through gritted teeth, still smiling.
"Oh you just wait until.. oh no.. Ron, Harry, hello..."
"Get your hands off her" Ron said crossing him arms looking at Draco. Harry shook his head and look at Hermione with an 'I told him to leave it alone but he's mental' look.
"She's my fiance, Weasel, my hands can be wherever they seem fit" Draco said, in a swift voice that seemed vacant of any emotion.
"To hell if they can" Hermione hissed under her breath as Ron narrowed his eyes.
"Listen here, Ferret, she doesn't like you, she hates your guts, and she will not, will do nothing of the sort, take part in a marriage with the likes of you"
"Oh forgive me, I'm so very sorry. I forgot that betrothals' were a choice I could make. You know, I could've woke up this morning and said, you know, Hermione, I don't think I want to marry you." Draco hissed back at Ron.
"Don't you dare mock me, Malfoy"
"Rather interesting, my surname, wonderful that Miss Zabini here will be taking after it" Draco smiled, knowing he had hit a nerve. Ron lunged forward but not before Fred and George stepped up on either side of him.
"Now, now Ron..." Fred smiled
"Can't be killing the ferret.." George smirked.
"Though it would be such a wonderful sight, don't you think so George"
"Right you are Fred, looking at Malfoy in a bloody mess, quite adorable"
"Yes, I seem to agree. No matter though, as appealing as the idea may seem"
"Yes, very appealing"
"Mum would ring your neck when we got home for making a scene" George smiled.
"Can't let you get killed little brother" Fred finished, all the while the two twins holding back there brother as he lunged again at Draco.
"Ronald Weasley, if you do not stop lunging at my fiance, I swear by merlin I will never help you with a homework assignment during out last year, you will get us in trouble with our parents if you try to bloody him up, this is our engagment/birthday party." Hermione said.
"But 'Mione, the ferret, honestly.." Ron started in again.
"Honestly, Weasel. Give it a rest. As much as I would love to beat you to a bloody pulp, we can just wait for Hogwarts, you know away from all the Professors and parents and guest who would be witnesses to your pathetic attempts." Draco smirked.
"Can I have everyones attention" Ron was about to retaliate when a beautiful women took the stage, and another gorgeous women with blonde hair followed. Draco pulled Hermione away from her friends.
"Stop it, what are you doing" Hermione hissed.
"They're getting ready to announce the engagements, so please settle down for the love of merlin and practice what mother told you and stand with some dignity."
"Oh I'll give you dignity.." Hermione shot back at him, narrowing her eyes before throwing her shoulders back, and standing with admirable poise.
"Our daughter, Hermione Diane Zabini, and Draco Lucius Malfoy, son of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, are engaged." Hermione's mother smiled as everyone applauded the couple while Draco put his hand at the small of Hermione back, and they walked over to stand with their mothers, as their fathers soon joined. "Also, we would like to announce to engagement of our son, Blaise Jasper Zabini to Adyssen Loraine Bentley, daughter of Emmet and Bella Bentley. Last but not least, to our son and daughter, Happy 17th Birthday" Hermione's mothers voice was then brought to her normal tone as many people congradulated her and her brother on their engagements.
Hermione smiled to so many people and she knew she barely knew half of them. Draco was a perfect gentleman for the rest of evening and Hermione herself tried very hard to be as pleasant as ever to her fiance. Rule number one for Malfoys: you are in love, and it had better appear that way.
"Hermione, guess what" Blaise said, grinning at her and gracefully pulling Adyssen along with him.
"Um let me guess, once all the guest leave, we get to open the presents"
"You are smart" Blaise smiled, "Draco, how about you and I go get the ladies something to drink." Blaise said before turning to Adyssen and kissing her on the cheek. Draco turned to Hermione and did the exact same but in a quicker fashion before walking off with her brother.
"You and Draco have quite the background" Adyssen smiled.
"Yes...we all but hate each other" Hermione whispered.
"Well, it's not easy to tell. You two look perfectly in love. However, I saw the looks you gave each other before we came in, and had to ask Blaise about it" Adyssen smiled a very sweet smile halfway giggling. "He's gorgeous, that Draco Malfoy, but he has a rather rotten temper."
"Oh Adyssen, he has a rather rotten everything" Hermione laughed along with her soon to be sister in-law.
"Hermione" Ron was tapping on her shoulder as she turned around. "Sorry for being a prat, but you're marrying a prat" Ron said with his eyebrows pulling together.
"Wow Ron, doing great with that apology" Harry laughed. Harry Potter had definately grown up. He was now the kind of guy that girls would drool after. Hermione let a small 'hmph' as she realized Ron was no different. His smile was completely captivating.
"What's wrong" Ron said, catching Hermione's distaste.
"Oh nothing, except that all the females around here are staring at you two like a piece of meat" Hermione admitted grudgingly, watching the girls eying her two best mates, "honestly, your like brothers, that's just sick of them to think.. to even want.."
"Hey!" Ron and Harry said back.
"They have great taste, of course, more of them are looking at me, Harry"
"Ron, I'm the hero, I could get many girls, but I only want one." Harry smiled at his best friend.
"Ugh, you and your fascination with my sister, your robbing the cradle, Harry"
They both heard Adyssen giggle as she watched the two argue, "Very interesting friends, Hermione. No doubt the infamous Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley." She smiled at them both, who smiled back.
"Now, before you both start drooling over my fiance, this is Adyssen" Blaise laughed, walking up behind her. Draco soon stood beside Hermione and looked across the crowd, not paying attention the unwanted company. "The guest are dwindling" Blaise smiled.
"Blaise, your 17, yet you act like a 4 year old on Christmas" Hermione laughed.
"I want my presents"
"You're so spoiled"
"I know. I want my presents" Blaise laughed, his eyes lighting up as he looked at his sister. She shook her head and mumbled something. Draco started busting up laughing beside her. "Did I miss something"
"Your not the only one" Harry and Ron said.
Draco, who was still laughing, couldnt help but smile at his fiance, "Your demented, you know that"
"Yes, well, my family is in Slytherin"
"Cunning, Hermione, very cunning" Draco laughed.
"What, what'd she say" Blaise asked, very confused.
"She forgot to poison your supper last night, Blaise" Draco laughed, clapping his best friend on the shoulder who wriggled out of his grasp.
"You two should stop plotting my death" Blaise said with a serious tone.
Hermione began to laugh, "We're not plotting dear brother, we're planning"
"Oh ha ha Hermione, you're so funny, I know where you sleep little girl" Blaise had a boyish smile overcome his face.
"Five galleons says Hermione kills Blaise first" Harry whispered to Ron.
"Okay, your on, getting ready to pay when Blaise wins" Ron smiled.
"I can hear you two" Hermione said, turning to her two friends.
"Who us?" Harry and Ron smiled.
"500 galleons says I kill you two before either of them get killed" Draco smirked, letting Hermione place her hand in his. Harry and Ron's eyes both widened as Draco couldn't help but laugh slightly. "It's called a joke, Potter"
"Right" Ron and Harry eyed each other wearily when Blaise suddenly squealed like a girl.
"PRESENTS" He said, grabbing his sister. Draco and Adyssen cracked up laughing.
"Looks like I got the child of the two" Adyssen smiled.
"Oh don't worry, Blaise is a handful" Draco smirked.
