Chapter 36 : Andromeda's Secret
Rating: MatureChapter Reviews: 2

Background:   Font color:

A/N-I know this chapter has taken forever to write, and I'm so sorry. I've had really bad writer's block, so I eventually just changed the story's direction so that it doesn't take me until graduation day to get this chapter up. Enjoy!

Bellatrix and Narcissa left the house in a huge hurry, but Bellatrix forced Narcissa to Apparate back home with her.

“Okay, Cissa, what is up?”

“It’s Meda,” Narcissa said quickly. “I told you. We have to find her before she does something stupid. Oh my God she is so stupid.”

“Will you just slow down and take a deep breath and tell me what’s going on?”

Narcissa took a few deep breaths, then said, “Look, Bella. You obviously have a really good hold on how to do this, so I really need you to be the one who takes care of it. But Meda did a really…bad…thing. She has been all year but she kept it a secret from us.”

So this was it, huh?

That was the only thought that ran through Bellatrix’s mind over and over again. Andromeda had worked so hard at keeping this secret from them all year, and now…this was it. Bellatrix was really going to find out what it was now.

“Bella, you owe me big time for what happened with my father,” Narcissa said slowly and calmly, emphasizing every syllable. “But if you save Meda, I’ll completely forgive you. And I’ll stand by you all the way when Meda is furious with you.”

“No way, then. The last thing I need is two sisters mad at me.”

“But if you do this, then I won’t be mad at you. Really. I’ll be your best friend in the world.”

“Okay, fine. What is it that you want me to do.”

“I want you to grant Meda the same favor that you granted me. I want you to—”

What exactly Narcissa wanted Bellatrix to do, she didn’t find out, because at that moment, Bellatrix’s door banged open and Andromeda made a dramatic entrance.

“Narcissa Black, don’t you dare finish that sentence,” Andromeda said.

“Will somebody please just tell me what the hell is going on?”

“Fine,” Andromeda said. “Bellatrix, if you’re sure you want to know, I’ll tell you.”

Bellatrix turned to Narcissa. “Do I want to know?” she asked.

Narcissa nodded. “Yeah. You do.”

“Okay, Meda. Tell me, then.”

Andromeda just stood there for a moment, then finally said, “Okay. I’ll tell you, but only if we get into the Sisters Black Power Circle.”

“Why?” Narcissa asked. “Just blurt it out, like you did with me.”

The fact that Andromeda wanted to get into the Sisters Black Power Circle emphasized more how important this was to her. Bellatrix didn’t even remember the last time they’d used it. But the general idea was that they would all sit in a circle and hold hands, and then they could all use each other’s energy flow. Although Bellatrix suspected that the reason that Andromeda wanted to use it now was so that nobody could get mad at her, because it really was impossible to be mad at somebody that you’re physically touching at all, much less holding hands with in a power circle.

“Okay, fine. I’m in,” Bellatrix said, mostly just because she really wanted to know what Andromeda’s big secret was.

So right there on the floor, the three of them sat cross-legged and held hands with each other.

“So, Bella, Cissa already knows this, but I need to really impress on you how big of a deal this is. I mean, this is something that I’ve been struggling with since September, so I just want you to know that.”

“I really get it, Meda. I’ve sort of caught on to the importance thing. You ruined your life in an attempt to cover up this secret. I don’t think they get much bigger than that, really.”

Andromeda actually smiled a little bit. “Okay. Well, I’m not really sure how I can sugarcoat this at all, but…I’m in love with Ted Tonks. A lot. I’m really seriously in love with him.”

“Ted Tonks? The Mudblood that’s had a crush on you forever?”

Andromeda nodded. “The very one.”

Bellatrix jumped up and broke the link between them. “What?!” she exclaimed. “You can not be serious! Meda, I—I don’t accept this! You just can’t fall in love with a Mudblood. Do you have any idea how serious that is?! Have you thought at all about how Mother and Father would react? You’re like their Golden Child. You are it, Andromeda Black. You can’t sit there and tell me that you’re going to throw all that away, throw away the respect of everybody that you care about, to—”

“Bella, will you please shut up?” Andromeda said. Bellatrix was actually surprised that she didn’t at all look disappointed or upset or ashamed or anything. She just had a really calm, even expression on her face. “Listen to yourself, Bella. I know this is a really big thing, but seriously, listen and really comprehend the words the words that are coming out of your mouth. Why do you think I tried so hard to plot this whole thing with Frank? Don’t you think I know how stupid and insane this is?”

“Oh.” The meaning of Andromeda’s words really started to sink in, and Bellatrix actually felt pretty stupid.

“Yeah,” Andromeda said. “I promise, you have every right to be mad at me. But it just happened, and I’m doing everything in my power to fix it, to make everything right.”

Bellatrix fell down on her knees and hugged Andromeda tightly. “Meda, I love you,” she said quietly. “I love you so, so much.”

A/N-Wow. I bet NONE of you saw that coming, huh? I mean, who would've thought that Meda would ever have anything to do with Ted Tonks? Oh, and by the way, that "power circle" thing really works. Next time you're mad at one of your friends, really try hugging them or holding their hand or touching them or anything. You won't be mad for long, I promise. *thinks of becoming a psycologist*
