“OH MY GOD! I absolutely, positively, LOATHE you guys right now!”
You know its times like these when I wish I never met the marauders. I mean, I love the guys, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes I just want to…….UGH! How could they be this cruel? You see, I’m basically nocturnal. I’ll stay up until three and won’t wake up until at least noon. It’s just the way I function. Right now I’m sitting in my bed, drenched in ice cold water, at eight in the morning, nonetheless! Those idiots decided to give me an “early wake up call.” Well I hope they are prepared to face the wrath of Adrianne Maureen Weller, because I sure am pissed.
“Oh, come on Addie, you need to start getting up earlier. School is starting soon, after all.”
“Sirius Black, I swear to Godric you will be sorry. You will regret the day you woke Addie Weller up early. And it’s only July!”
“Addie, Addie, Addie,” James said with a laugh. “You shouldn’t be threatening your friends like that. I mean, we’re only looking out for your best interest. Besides,” he reasoned, “You know you love us.”
“Well I’m not feelin’ the ‘love’ right about now.” I said while performing the standard drying spell. “And why’d you have to wake me up at such a godforsaken hour? Why not ten, or even nine?”
“Because, Love,” Sirius explained. “It was much more fun this way.”
“You know, you should feel lucky because we were planning on waking you up earlier, but then we slept late.” James pointed out.
“Ugh, whatever. Just leave so I can get ready.” And after pushing them out, locking and barricading the door, I went back to sleep.
Alright, so I guess you want to know more about me, right? Good, because I’m telling you no matter what. I guess it all started when my parents and James’ parents became best friends in Hogwarts. Naturally, I grew up with him and basically lived in his house, just as he lived in mine. We were best friends and did just about everything together, with one exception: I attended a muggle primary school. Now I know what you’re thinking. “You said your parents went to Hogwarts. Why in the world would you go to a muggle school?” Ah, but here lies the beauty of wizarding blood, my friend. My father was a pureblood and my mother a muggleborn. I have no idea what that makes me; a “part-blood” perhaps. Anyway, my mom still wanted me to have a basic knowledge of the three R’s, and all that jazz. What’s life without a little 2+2, right? So it was off to muggle school I went.
“Addie, hurry up! We want to go to Diagon Alley today.”
“I’m just fixing my hair, James. I’ll be ready soon.”
Where was I, oh right. It was at this muggle school that I met one of my best girlfriends. I think we were first drawn to each other by our gorgeous hair. Lily had her strait, almost orange colored hair, and I had my dark red and curly hair. I don’t think you would know this, but we gingers have, like, this attraction to each other. It’s sort of like a secret club, but regardless, redheads notice each other. So, Lily and I became best friends. Sadly, when we found out she was a witch, her family had to move to France for business related reasons. We still keep in touch, but I haven’t seen her since I was eleven.
I met another one of my good buddies at St. Catherine’s. His name is Marty McDoughna (pronounced McDunna), and he’s got wavy brown hair and bright blue eyes. Our friendship was based on teasing, tormenting, and torturing each other to no end. Now don’t get me wrong, we’re great friends. We joke because we love. He’s a Gryffindor now. He went to muggle school for the same reasons as I; his mother is a muggleborn.
“Addie, it Remus,”
“Oh, hey Remus! When’d you get here?”
“Just now, but could you try and speed it up? We’re waiting on you.”
“I’m going as fast as I can, Rem, but I can’t figure out what to wear.”
“Merlin! You’re hopeless.”
“Love you too!”
Anyway, I suppose you want to know how the marauders came about. Well it all started…….
“Ladies First.” said James with a mock bow.
“There is no way I am running into that! It’s a wall, Mom!” I cried
“Oh please, Addie. You’re going to a school for magic, this wall is magic, you go right through it. What don’t you understand?” my mom replied in a hushed tone as she pushed me towards the barrier.
“Fine,” I huffed “but when I hit that stone menace and fall flat on my face, I’d appreciate it if you don’t laugh. Hold this.” I said as I gave my mother my cart.
I broke out into a run, and as I expected, I did fall on my face. I didn’t, however, expect to see a huge scarlet train and a crowd of people running in every possible direction.
“Would you mind getting off?” I heard a voice laugh from underneath me.
I looked down to see that I was lying on top of a boy with dark hair and grey eyes.
“Oh Merlin I’m sorry.” I said as I got off him. “I really didn’t AHHH!”
But I was cut off from my apology when something, or should I say someone knocked me and the boy onto the ground again.
“Sorry Addie,” He laughed “but you shouldn’t have been standing right in front of the barrier.”
“Well I’ll have you know,” I began
“Oh, don’t mind me,” The boy said sarcastically. “I’m just the guy that you’re crushing, but please, carry on with your conversation.”
“Sorry Mate, didn’t see you there.” James said as he got up. He offered us both a hand. “The name’s James Potter.”
“Sirius Black,” The boy said with a smile. He turned to me. “And you are?”
“Adrianne Weller, but you can call me Addie.”
“Alright then Addie, shall we find a compartment?” Sirius asked us.
“Let’s.” replied James
“You two walk ahead. I don’t want to risk getting crushed again.”
“I don’t see any empty ones.” I said as we made our way through the train.
“Why don’t we sit with him?” James pointed to a compartment with a sandy haired boy sitting in the corner.
I opened the compartment door and the boy looked up.
“Excuse me, do you mind if we share your compartment? Everywhere else is full.”
“Of course, go right ahead.” He responded politely.
“Thanks. I’m Addie Weller. This is James Potter and Sirius Black.”
“Hello, I’m Remus Lupin. Pleased to meet you.”
After another round of ‘Hey’ and ‘Nice to meet you’ the train began its journey to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
*End of Flashback*
…and we’ve been best friends ever since. The guys named our little group “The Marauders.” I didn’t think the name was necessary, but what do I know?
“Addie, come on!”
“Alright, alright, I’m coming. Merlin, you guys are so impatient.”
