Evans! See what I do for you?
Being kicked in the head was not my
favourite way to be awoken, I have to admit, but that seemed to be Lily’s tactic at that moment which seemed to be not long after sunrise, as the room appeared to be enveloped in a pink-goldish tinge: not quite bright enough to start my eyes watering, but bright enough that I could see Lily’s wonderful room properly for the first time since I had arrived the day before.
“OW!” I shouted only to be quickly muffled by Lily as she threw her hand over my mouth before I could complete my growl of pain… oh well, at least she was on me… and then her face was getting closer and closer and closer until I could see every single detail in her beautiful green iris’s… and before I knew it she was off of me again.
What the fuck? Bending over (I’m sorry I couldn’t help but look) she picked up my wallet and handed it to me, watching me carefully. Don’t ask me why… I had no idea why she would be scrutinising me so closely and so early in the morning.
“Er thanks.” I put it in my back pocket whilst Lily’s eyes bore into mine. I was feeling a little awkward, and I tell you, that never happens often. “Can I go back to sleep now?” I said, covering my mouth swiftly afterwards as I yawned deeply so I didn’t look disgusting… oh and maybe to disguise my morning breath, in case it hovered over to Lily and knocked her unconscious.
“No. My parents have left to go pick Petunia up from the airport. They’ll be back in several hours and I don’t want them returning to find you here.” Quickly nodding I stood up and stretched, letting the blanket Lily found for me the night before drop to the floor. Being quickly faced with a gasp, I looked down to see that I had my tight underwear on.
“Oh… must have forgotten I was wearing those…” Grinning I was met with a disapproving shake of the head as Lily picked up a few things from around the room.
“You did that on purpose.” Lily mumbled, now picking out some clothes from her wardrobe and heading over to her door and unlocking it. Oh yes, I have Lily now. She will be gagging for it!
“Nope. Just as
big a surprise to
you as it was for me.” I laughed as she turned a cute shade of red, before I ran over and blocked the door to block her exit. “You’re going red you know.” I added, trying to get her riled up.
“Piss off, Potter! Look, I let you stay the night, now stop harassing me!” She made an attempt to leave but was once again unsuccessful as her hands were rather full with things she was gonna wear. “I’m going to get dressed! Stop it!”
“Not before you tell me how you feel about my-” I began, but was beaten with the old ‘duck-under-the-arm-technique’ and before I knew it, she was down the hall and there was a big slam as I saw her shut the bathroom door behind her.... leaving me in her room… LEAVING ME IN HER ROOM ALONE?? IS SHE CRAZY? I wouldn’t trust myself in someone’s room by myself, so I didn’t know how Lily was!
Wait a second… she covered my mouth after I shouted in pain a few minutes before-hand and I had assumed her parents were in and thought nothing of the fact that she had covered my mouth therefore. And then I was informed that her parents were out… so….
why the bloody hell did she do that if it didn’t matter if I was loud?
Scratching my head and giving up on trying to work out what Lily was up to, I decided to resist the temptation of looking around the room and prying into the deepest, darkest secrets that Lily may hold within, say, a diary for instance... No one can be as squeaky clean as her, it’s not possible! I mean, I knew most people thought of Moony as a perfect prude- hey alliteration, I like! Oh wait, I’m digressing here, but I knew about Moony properly, he was just a professional at what he did. He is just as much of a man-whore as the next guy… well OK, that’s a bit of an exaggeration if the next guy happens to be Sirius or something but you get what I mean. Lily HAS to have something disturbing that no-one knows about. Or maybe I’m just hopeful?
To make the temptation of looking through Lily’s drawers all the less exciting, I decided to just stare at a bra of Lily’s that was lying on the end of her bed. Wow. It was lacy and green. Many-an-image of Lily wearing that thing was going through my head at that point. Ah god.
Wacking my head repeatedly to get the pictures in my mind to go, I stopped abruptly, my hand a few inches in front of my forehead before dropping it at the sight of Lily entering the room, cocking an eyebrow at me.
“Er Hi.” Feeling like a complete pillock I waved, making me look like even more of a prick than before.
“They let you out on day release then?” She laughed, and even though I was slightly offended at being called mental, I couldn’t help but smile at Lily’s gorgeous laugh. It was like a song, all tuneful and melodic. Yeah I know, I sound like a complete ponsy wanker but whatever.
“Of course not, who would trust me out in the public? I escaped you see…” I tried to look serious but was failing miserably at the sight of Lily clamping her mouth shut to keep from laughing at me. “Why is that so funny anyway?” Now I looked mortally offended… I could just tell by the way my voice came out.
“It’s just too plausible, that’s all.” Shaking her head I noticed Lily was dressed for the summer… oh wait, it
was summer. “You can use my bathroom if you want. But be quick, OK?”
I saluted briskly and with one final quick glance at the lovely green bra, I was off. On my way out of the room, however, I thought I distinctly heard Lily muttering to herself, and it sounded like a definite, “If he doesn’t admit it I’m going to skin him alive…”
Bloody hell. What have I done now? I sighed, carrying on down to the room that Lily ran to beforehand. Once inside I noticed how small the little bathroom was. Not that I cared- I have long grown out of that ‘I’m richer than you’ stage, even when I had been brought up as being told I was the most precious thing in my parent’s life, I
still used to decide that the fact I was born into money was something to brag about. Yes I know- it probably didn’t help my case in my first 3 years at Hogwarts when Lily was clearly brought up with a less than even mediocre financial background.
But she was still popular among peers. She didn’t have to flash any money off to get friends; she didn’t have to even prove her intellectual worth, everybody just knew she was a smart, nice person with a good heart- even if they did see her short fuse more often than not. It kind of struck me then, when I glanced around the bathroom, at just how wrong I had been going about trying to get Lily all these years. She’s a girl of substance and worth, and that means no amount of money could buy her even if it could buy all those stupid girlfriends I had managed to acquire and then dump over the years…
Because, well, I suppose you look after the things you know are worth more and anything that you can buy easily you don’t try as hard to keep from breaking- because you know that, in the end, you can just buy another if you need to…
“And a girl like Lily is the rarest of all.” I said to myself, picking up a stick of deodorant from the cabinet, kind of revolting myself at the thought of her father or someone having used it before.
Running it under the tap I put it on under my arm-pits afterwards and replaced it where I found it. A quick sniff under my arms and I concluded that I was good to go. I REALLY didn’t want to risk using a toothbrush right about then…

James came strolling in just as I had finished tidying my room up a bit more. OK, that kind of makes it sound like I care about what he thinks of my room… but I don’t. I mean yes OK maybe my cleaning up of the room would make it look bigger but I just wanted to look neat and tidy, I was house-proud- get it from my mother I think.
“So do you want me to walk you to the end of the street or are you big and strong enough to go alone?” I teased, raising an eyebrow so as to dare him to even try and suggest that I do. I mean come on- we had escaped the clutches of Severus Snape AND he had a certain
thing in his wallet that made me think that James was not just
trying to get to know me.
“We didn’t even go out anywhere! Can’t we just go to your local high street and look at some shops? If not for me, then so I can buy you something for letting me stay round?” Urgh, I inwardly growled as James said this. He didn’t need to prove he was so bloody rich all the time, if that’s what he’s doing… He can’t seriously just be being nice…can he?
“It’s OK, really. You don’t have to buy me anything.” Picturing my high street I suddenly, desperately hoped that we
didn’t venture all the way there. You see, it’s just that there’s a new shop that’s opened up there, it sells lingerie and erm, other things… “Really. It’s really, really fine.”
“Really?” He laughed, and just as I was about to confirm this I folded my arms as he grinned. He was taking the piss out of me! OK, so I said the word ‘really’ loads- who cares? Hmm apparently I did.
“Go home James.” I turned around so he couldn’t see me and pretended to be busy in my side drawers. After a lack of the sound of a moving pair of feet or the close of a door, I turned back again to be greeted with James standing right in front of me. How did he walk up to me so quickly? And why does he NEVER EVER give up? Grabbing my hand, I resisted, knowing what he was going to do, “Get off of me right now!”
“Please, we didn’t even go out anywhere in the end!” He pleaded, getting on his knees and looking up at me. Urgh he’s actually begging. I never thought I’d see the day. Sighing in defeat, I just knew he’d perform a side-along apparition anyway if I just said no, so I agreed in order for an easy life.
“Alright. An hour. OK? No longer!” I smiled in spite of myself and James hugged me in return, squashing me… squashing me… URGH. We had apparated and I could just about breathe.
“You OK?” He asked sounding and looking genuinely concerned, putting a hand behind my back as I tried to regain my breath back again.
“I’m fine, thank you.” Smiling, I hope I didn’t sound too offensive or anything- I mean James was being nice after all. Even if he did have that thing in his wallet…
Finally taking in his surroundings, James spun around and looked at the street, taking in the look of every shop and deciding which one he wanted to go in first. He certainly looked mesmerised by the sweet shop, a few stores down from where we were standing.
Taking my hand in his, he lead the way, jumping up and down like a… well, like a child in a sweet shop.
“Lily, look! Oh shit, I didn’t bring any money, well, not muggle money!” He looked so disappointed that it actually got to me. Who would have thought Lily Evans would ever feel sorry for James-has-everything-Potter? Taking his hand in mine, I took the lead and steered us towards the shop anyway. And no, it wasn’t to tease him or teach him a lesson or anything, I knew the shop owner and I knew he’d trust me enough to allow me to pay for the sweets another day.
“Come on. It’s alright. I know the shop keeper, I’ll get you a bag of sweets, OK?” I smiled, and the smile I received in return was like nothing I had ever seen in my life. Hmm, maybe people don’t show him enough genuine acts of kindness? Maybe, some even suck up to him just because of his money? At that thought I felt a little sad: maybe precious Potter hadn’t been taught how to appreciate things after all…

“Are you sure this is a good idea?” I asked tentatively. Currently I was in Sirius’ new flat and waiting for Grace to come round to visit too. I had casually brought up the idea of telling Grace about me being a werewolf because I trust her and Sirius had seemed to be all for it. As the time came closer to the arrival of Grace, however, I was beginning to doubt myself and didn’t know if I could go through with it.
“Of course it is. You like her, yes?” I nodded and Sirius rolled his eyes, “Well THEN! Go for it! What’s the worst that could happen?” He shrugged his shoulders like it was case closed and as easy as that. But I don’t quite think he had grasped the concept of what I was actually going to do.
“Er, well let’s see: apart from breaking up with me, hating me and telling the whole school, nothing! Wow you’re right, Sirius, as always! It’s good to know I have you here to think things through for me!” I muttered sarcastically. Sirius was rubbing his arms and decided not to reply to me. “Can I use your toilet please?” I asked after a few seconds.
Sirius grinned and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at his lack of maturity, “Oh yeah I get it, you’re going for a wank in the loo so that if you end up shagging her you’ll last longer- don’t worry mate, I’ve got ya. Go ahead.”
“Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m doing.” I made my way to the toilet but couldn’t help but notice Sirius fiddling with his trousers and had to ask what the hell he was doing.
“Thought I might as well do one too while you’re gone.” I have often wondered how people like Sirius can say things like that in a completely serious way, not batting an eyelid and even seeming relatively proud of themselves. I mean come on, admitting you’re going to wank while your friend goes to pee for one minute? That’s disturbing on many, many levels.
“Oh god…” Shaking my head, I was about to make my way to the bathroom, as before, when the buzzer on Sirius’ flat rang.
“Bollocks! I was just gonna start then!” I heard Sirius growl as he went to his door and picked up the phone, “Who the shit is this?” I stood there, listening, knowing exactly who it was. “Oh sorry Grace, you just interrupted me and Remus. We were about to wank you see… no not each other, but if you’re up for a threesome, I’ll happily obli-”
“Give that to me!” I said, snatching the phone from Sirius, who grinned and bounded off only to slump back on his sofa again. “Hey Grace, don’t worry come on up.” And with that I pressed the button and heard Grace making her way up the stone steps. Suddenly I needed to pee again, “Sirius I’m gonna piss myself!”
“Aw are you scared?” He mocked, and I couldn’t help but be amazed at how uncannily like a woman his voice had become. Really, it was rather good. “As long as you don’t piss on her you’ll be fine!”
“Er what?” I heard a voice behind me and Grace had come in, a slightly scared expression painted across her face.
“Nothing. Hello Grace,” I said, almost sheepishly I hate to admit. Pulling her into a hug, I could smell that wonderful smell that always lingers within her hair. It’s beautiful. I love her hair. I also love her hugs too. She has a firm hold that let’s me know that she wants to hug me- not like some pathetic arm hook or the quickest hugs in history that some girls seem to do- and so I always feel wanted. Before pulling back I flicked a V at Sirius and he just looked smug in return, making motions with his hips so as to suggest something dirty no doubt.
“Hey Remus, I’ve missed you.” She smiled and Sirius made a gagging motion into his pillow. “You’re only doing that because you haven’t got Mary to shag and you’re jealous.”
“That’s a load of rubbish and you know it.” Sirius announced somewhat unconvincingly folding his arms and looking away from us. Grace and I gave each other a look that clearly said ‘yeah right!’.
“Still want that threesome, Sirius?” I teased, getting a look from Grace that I shook my head at; letting her know that I was only joking and that she didn’t need to worry. At the suggestion Sirius perked up.
“Do I ever!” And then I felt bad because Sirius actually looked genuinely excited about the prospect, which he probably didn’t even bother considering the possibility of before.
“Nah. You’re alright!” Grace said to Sirius, and then grabbed my hand and pulled me into the bathroom, laughing the whole time. Locking the door behind us we heard Sirius run over and start banging on the door with his fists.
“Oi! This is MY bathroom! You randy little fuckers.” When we didn’t reply, Grace took my shirt collar in her hands and pushed me against the door as we started kissing hoping that he had gone away from the door- no such luck though as a few minutes later we heard some more noise. “I can HEAR you! Fine. I’m gonna wank over you, have fun!” This thought alone was enough to make me sigh in disgust.
“Maybe we should stop…” Grace suggested, tucking a hair of mine behind my ear.
“Good idea…” I agreed.

"Oh wow I like the look of that! Can we buy it?" Looking around, I hoped that nobody was watching, as this was thoroughly embarrassing...
"No, James, you have to be 18!" I tried to pull him away but he resisted, and to my great horror a sales assistant came up to us.
"May I help?" She asked sweetly, eyeing us up as potential customers, obviously.
"Err no thank-you. We're just browsing..."
The sales assistant smiled, “OK, if you need any help, let me know.” And with that she walked off.
“Er thanks.” I replied awkwardly to her retreating figure, turning around to see that James had gone to look at more things in the shop that could be used for similar things… not that he knew what they were for, probably.
Yes, you may have guessed that the lingerie-and-other-things-shop caught James’ eye and he dragged me in after taking a good look at the mannequins in the shop window display.
I was soooooo paranoid at that moment about many things: 1) That James is going to get carried away and break something which I will have to pay for, which I will then have to throw away because I CANNOT take things like that home oh and 2) That one of my mum’s friends, or someone who knows my mum, will spot me and tell my mother where I’ve been!
“Potter! Come with me! We’re going!” I power walked up to him as he was staring at a mannequin wearing some underwear. I rolled my eyes, as he still didn’t reply to me. “God, James, do you want us to get caught in here or something? Or for my parents to bloody find me?”
“Can I buy one of these for you?” Not quite believing my ears I decided to leave without him. HIS loss, not mine. If he’s going to be an awkward sod that refuses to co-operate, then fine, he can find his own way home. Just as I was about to leave however, I saw my Mum, Dad and Petunia get out of our car after parking on the side of the road from the shop window.
“Come on, Petunia, we’ve been saving since we found out! You have to pick a dress out!” I heard my Mum say as she walked briskly down the road, my Dad look decidedly bored at her side. Horribly though, one of the sales assistants ran to the door, calling out my Mum’s name,
“Iris! It’s me, Lynne! I’ve got that thing you were after in stock!” At this, my Mother pushed Petunia towards Dad, waving them off as she rushed to come into the shop. Ahh!!! Oh no! She’s going to find me! And er, what the hell does she want from
here? Running to the back of the shop I took James by the arm and pushed him into a fitting room cubicle.
“Bloody hell! What’s going on?” He said, to which I covered his mouth and whispered back a reply instead.
“My MOTHER is in here! I cannot let her see you, or me: you might accidentally drop me in it!” Removing my hand when I noticed a crease in James’ forehead that indicated he was frowning, I waited for a reply.
“Well thanks a lot. I’m not that thick you know. I could have worked out not to mention I knew you or anything. And I’m certainly not stupid enough to mention you coming in here even if the conversation
did get that far!” James muttered this all in a rather annoyed tone. I didn’t mean to patronise him but bloody hell does he deserve it after doing it to everyone else he’s ever met or spoken to.
“Yeah well. You licked my hand just then. That’s disgusting.” At this, and the randomness of it I suppose, we both burst out laughing, eradicating any tension that had been there seconds before.
“What’s that noise?” I could hear my mum ask from somewhere nearby, and then some footsteps then followed.
“Shit, second time we’ve been caught somewhere we shouldn’t, eh?” James laughed, raising an eyebrow to which I seriously became worried.
“Oh no…” I whimpered and then before we could even do anything the curtain was ripped from the… cubicle next to us. Letting out a heavy breath, James suddenly grabbed my hair and twirled it into a knot before pulling a handkerchief from his pocket and putting it over the top of my head, covering my hair. Grabbing my hand, he ran off out of the shop, leading the way and going in the opposite direction from which we came which would hopefully mean that we wouldn’t bump into any of my family members.
When we finally stopped, we were by a wooden park bench, I couldn’t help but to sit down and catch my breath again.
“Bloody hell, Potter!” I laughed between breaths, “Why did you put a hanky over my head?”
“So that if your Mum saw us running out, she wouldn’t work out it was you by your hair.” James explained, sitting next to me and taking the handkerchief from my head before pocketing it. “Actually, I did it because I wanted to get a hair from you so I could make a love potion.”
I looked at him with a fake worry etched upon my face, “The thing is: it scares me because that could possibly be very, very true.” Again we laughed and I wondered if my cheeks were going to pass out any time soon due to the over working of them that I seemed to be doing lately. And then, when James moved slightly and I saw his wallet sticking out of his back pocket I remembered something and became rather angry again.
“Why did you have a Johnny in your wallet?” I blurted out, it might have sounded eager but really it was pent up annoyance and anger at him for having one. Looking flabbergasted I must say (although he could be acting) he took the wallet from his pocket and opened it. Inside there was the offending item.
“I have no idea how that got in there!” Holding his hands up before picking it up, he threw it hastily into the path of an old couple that happened to be walking by. Cursing himself James then picked it up from in front of them before giving them a quick apology and receiving a nasty whack from the old ladies’ handbag, a disapproving glare and a “disgusting” from the old dears.
“Evans!” He whined, dumping the thing in a bin and sitting next to me again, “See what I do for you? Get hit by barmy old ladies...” Sighing, he looked rather defeated and held his head between his hands. Aww looking all cute and hopeless! I must say this was rather fun whether Potter really did intend to shag me or not. “Sirius probably put it in there you know. I’m gonna kill him when I see him again! He’s ruined my chances he’s-” I cut him off before he could continue anymore,
“It’s alright I believe you, OK?”

Whilst I got rid of Sirius, telling him to restock his refrigerator while I told Grace about me, I sat down next to Grace on the sofa turning the television off. At this point I was so very, very scared, but one look at Grace’s profile, her wavy blonde hair, I knew I had to do it, if not for me, then for her. I wanted to be honest and it would take a great deal of pressure off of me.
“Can we er, talk, Grace? I began tentatively, to which Grace nodded and shuffled closer to me, leaning her head on my shoulder and staring up at me with her big blue eyes.
“Of course. What do you want to talk about?” She replied, trailing her hand across my chest. I took a deep breath in and turned to face Grace fully, taking her hands in mine as she adjusted to not leaning on my shoulder anymore.
“Well, erm, about me. A erm, there’s something about me you don’t know.” This was getting harder and harder, but I realised that once I started I couldn’t stop. Brushing Grace’s knuckles with my thumbs whilst clinging onto her hands still tightly, I looked her straight in the eyes, “I’m a- once a month I- werewolf.” I finished lamely. Grace’s reaction was instantaneous: she let go of my hands and sat back, tilting her head to the side.
“You,
what?” She asked, her voice dripping scepticism. She raised her hands to her face and began shaking her head, all the while getting up from the sofa and slowly backing away from me. I couldn’t believe it, my heart felt numb and I didn’t have a clue what to say next. The only thing I did know was that I had to say something or Grace was going to leave without giving me a chance… I honestly didn’t think she’d react so badly to the news.
“I was- I was 7 years old, I can’t help it-” I began but was cut off almost immediately by Grace who was still walking backwards to every step I made towards her.
“How are you even
allowed at Hogwarts? You’d… you’d kill everyone!” She exclaimed as her back hit the front door of the flat and she began fumbling for the handle to get the hell out of there. My eyes hurt from trying to keep the tears in and I felt as if I made a sound my throat would tear apart.
“I go to the shrieking shack before I transform,” I put my arms either side of her shoulders so she couldn’t leave, I needed to explain this to her, she couldn’t just leave without giving me a chance! I was a good person, I was… “Look at me, Grace. Please, I have never harmed anyone!”
“Get away from me!” Grace screamed, a scream that made my ears feel as if they were on fire and that my heart was stone. “You shouldn’t be allowed at school!” She tore my arms away, before pushing me and opening the door to run away.
“Grace! Grace!” I shouted, but she didn’t turn back. I ran up to her and caught up with her quickly, “OBLIVIATE!” I said, pointing my wand at her and catching her before she fell down the stairs. Her eyes glazed over, and I carried her across my arms before setting her down on the sofa, and performing a sleeping incantation on her whilst I gathered my thoughts. I now knew that this was it: Grace and I could never be an item. For some reason or another she hated the fact that I was a werewolf.
Was everybody for the rest of my life going to think like Grace though?
“Hey Moony, I got a few eggs and some Johnny’s, I hope that’s what you meant when-” Sirius had just walked through the door, he didn’t seem to have bought a lot: probably got bored after 10 minutes knowing him. Stopping abruptly he placed his shopping down on the kitchen counter and began walking over to me. “Hey, what happened?” Sirius asked quietly, motioning to Grace’s sleeping figure.
“Didn’t go very well.” I sighed and shook my head, “She hates me. I had to erase her memory before she went and told the whole world.” I couldn’t see Padfoot’s face at that point, due to the fact I was staring at the floor, but I knew that he would be a mixture of anger at Grace, disbelief at Grace’s reaction and sympathy for me, all held in one gaze.
Patting me a few times on the back, he then gave my shoulder a comforting squeeze, “I’m sorry, mate. She was bang out of order.”
Bang out of order indeed, I thought as I sighed, giving Grace one hopeful look before awakening her.
A/N: Well well well there we are. Lily's trusting James more and Grace seems to have a vendetta against werewolves, why you may ask, does she have a vendetta against werewolves? Or you might not be! Anyways the answer to that shall be coming soon! I hope you liked it and found it just as funny as the other chapters, even though it had that horrible fight at the end there :( Here be a preview:
"You know, Lily, I've always thought you were lovely, really erm lovely!" His arms were waving everywhere by now, it was a chore trying to keep him to stand up even without the fact that there seemed to be fire nearby me somewhere. Hmm 'flat-warming' indeed.
"Remus, go sit down erm there
or something..." I held on to him by the arms, guiding him to the sofa when James decided to finally get out of fridge.
"OH LILY! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU!" Oh god, how am I meant to look after everyone?
"In the fridge? I don't think so, somehow, James."
Keep up the reviews!
