Wow! I am so sorry for the long break between chapters. I held off on this story while I was working on another of mine, but that one is finished now. So, updates for this one will be coming much quicker, probably around once every ten days. This chapter doesn't contain much, but it is very important. Please review! Again, so sorry about the wait. It won't happen again!
"Urgh!" Harry roared later that evening, returning home to kick the coffee table in anger, "Damn it!!" He paced around the living room in Elizabeth's apartment, his chest heaving as he ran his hands through his unruly hair. He murmured under his breath, cursing over and over, "Damn it, damn it, damn it!"
Elizabeth came into the living room and folded her arms across her chest, leaning against the doorway, "Wow, Harry. Rough time over there?"
"You have no idea..." Harry shook his head in anger. He threw himself onto the couch and took his head into his hands as Elizabeth crawled up next to him. She rubbed his back affectionately as Harry shook his head in annoyance and began speaking, "It's not fair!! It's not bloody fair at all!! I do possess magic. I'm famous in this wizard universe. My parents were murdered when I was a baby. I've lived with a rotten aunt and uncle all my life! A man named Lord Voldemort has been after me since my birth and is still on my tail! A-And...And I'm married..."
Elizabeth froze and stuttered, blinking, "What did you say?"
Harry leaned forward, wrapping his arms around his head as he shook in anger, frustration, and sadness, "I'm married, Elizabeth. H-Her name...Her name is Ginny. W-We've been married for two years."
"Did you just learn about this?" Elizabeth asked in a small squeak, drawing her hand away from Harry's warm and muscular back. Harry swallowed and sat up, wanting to pull the frightened woman back into his grasp. Harry shook his head as he felt tears rise in his eyes and massive pangs of guilt throb in his stomach at the sight of her. He touched her cheek and whispered, "Y-Yes. I-I'm so sorry, love. I-I...I don't know what to do. I love you, Elizabeth. I love you..."
Elizabeth rose and slowly walked to a window, biting her fist to stop herself from reacting to all of this. She didn't know what she wanted to do. She wanted to scream. She wanted to cry. She wanted to turn around and fly into Harry's arms and never allow another woman to take him from her. There were too many emotions.
Harry choked out and rose unsteadily, movings his hands as if they would help him in the matter, "I-I'm so sorry, Lizzy. P-Please...You have to understand that I didn't know..."
"B-But..." Elizabeth choked out as Harry came up behind her and held her, wrapping his arms around her waist. He let his hands rest on her abdomen and he swayed himself against her, trying to drown out all uneasy emotions for the moment. He closed his eyes as he let his head drop down, breathing against her neck, and Elizabeth drew in a shaky breath, shaking her head quickly, "No, Harry. You're someone elses. You were married before you met me. Y-You...If you had known who you were, if you had known your wife...If you had known then there never would have been an us..."
"I know." Harry said in a soft whisper, kissing her neck. Elizabeth tried to break free of his grasp, but he held her firmly to him and continued to kiss her, "But if I had never lost my memory, I never would have met you. Elizabeth, this has all led me to you! You! You're the one I want to be with. I don't even know this woman, but you...I do know you! And I know that I..."
"Harry, don't say it." Elizabeth whispered.
"...I want you to be the woman I come home to every night..." Harry whispered out, swallowing and grabbing onto her arms, making her look at him. Elizabeth looked away from his penetrating emerald eyes and shook her head, "Don't tell me that, Harry."
"No matter what I learn about myself it won't stop me from knowing the truth and that truth is - "
"Harry, you can't." Elizabeth shook her head, looking to the ground. Harry, hear broken, grasped her frail shoulders and squeezed them gently, "Why? Why not?"
"I'm married. That's why."
Harry cupped her face in his hands and whispered quickly, "Elizabeth, that doesn't matter to me. I love you! I love you! I love you, Elizabeth!! I love you and I can't leave you!! I can't go home to a woman I don't know and just leave you here. You're the one I want to be with. You're everything to me."
"You can't tell me that."
"And why not?!" Harry asked quickly, making her look at him, his emerald eyes showing all of his emotion has he gazed to her. Elizabeth closed her eyes as they swelled with tears and she shook her head, "You just can't, Harry! All right? You just can't! I can't have you love me i-if you're married. You loved a different woman before me. You wouldn't even love me at all you hadn't gotten amnesia! You're twenty-one! And you've been married for two years already! Doesn't that show that you loved this woman so very much?"
"Elizabeth, please..." Harry whispered.
She shrugged her shoulders and asked, breaking free of his grasp, "Please what, Harry?!"
"Just tell me the truth." Harry whispered, walking up behind her once more and kissing her neck. He moaned against her, "Just tell me if you love me. That's all I ask..."
"Don't make me answer that." Elizabeth shook her head quickly, pulling her body away from Harry's back and walking around the room, folding her arms across her chest. She paced around as Harry watched her. He finally said after many minutes of silence, "You love me."
"Harry, I - "
"You love me."
"I - do - not - love - you."
"Liar..." Harry whispered, just looking at her. His gaze wasn't heavy on her, but it wasn't soft either. Elizabeth bit her lip and let out a quick cry, falling onto the couch and taking her head into her hands. Harry kneeled down in front of her and touched her knees. He stroked them softly as Elizabeth sniffed, "I'm not lying..."
"You're lying again..." Harry whispered in a soft and soothing voice.
Elizabeth shook her head, "Don't call me a liar."
"Then stop lying and I won't." Harry laughed. He began to soothe to her as she cried loudly, "Hey, hey. It's all right. Everything is going to be okay." He wiped her smeared mascara from her cheeks and smiled kindly. Elizabeth sniffed and said, "I can't tell you I love you. If I do then - "
"Then I'll be here to stay..." Harry whispered.
Elizabeth nodded and Harry touched her cheek, "We can work something out. What if I don't love Ginny again?"
"But what if you do, Harry?"
"Let's not think about that. Let's only think of you and me." Harry whispered, stroking her neck. He smiled, kissing her forehead, "Tell me you love me..."
Elizabeth sighed breathlessly as his loose lips trailed across her cheeks, her forehead, her neck, her collarbone, all over. She gave in as Harry wrapped his arms around her and she shivered as his warm hand slipped up the back of her blouse and ran all along her back, caressing her, teasing her, urging her to him. Giving in as one of his hands slipped down her jeans and the other under her bra strap, Elizabeth buried her head into Harry's neck and moaned, crashing her lips upon his neck, "I love you..."
Harry laughed as Elizabeth lowered herself off of the couch and in front of Harry, wrapping herself around him. She urged him to the floor and crawled on top of him as Harry snickered, Elizabeth sitting up and quickly taking off his shirt, "I knew you couldn't resist me."
"Shut up..." she groaned in a funny way as she dove in, kissing Harry's chest. Harry asked as he smiled as Elizabeth pressed her body against his and adjusted his legs so she was positioned comfortable, "I don't want you to worry about Ginny. I'll work something out and maybe things will be different than what we expect."
Elizabeth nodded as she allowed Harry to run a hand through her hair, massaging her scalp. She swallowed and whispered, "But you saw her today. She knows you're alive and she knows you know how to find your way home. When does she expect you back?"
"I told her tomorrow. I needed one night with you, but she doesn't know that..." Harry whispered, his voice trailing off. Elizabeth shook her head, rolling off of him and folding her arms across her chest as she leaned against the couch. She glowered, "It's not right. I don't want to have you if it's behind your wife's back."
"But it wouldn't be your burden to bear if we did. It would be mine and I'm willing to do anything if it means to be with you." Harry spoke softly, sitting up and pulling her into his muscular arms. Elizabeth began to protest, "No, Harry. I won't let you. It's not right. It's not right and you know it."
"It may not be right, but we both can't deny what we feel for each other."
"You're right. We don't have to deny it. By not denying it, that doesn't mean that we have to confess it to each other."
"Elizabeth..." Harry whispered, shaking his head.
"I love you. I promise I will make you happy. Whatever it takes, I'll do it." Harry said, kissing her cheek softly. He watched her look at his left arm in interest. She took it into her small and delicate hands and she traced over the tattoo of a snake. She asked softly, "Does she know about this?"
Harry hissed in pain as she ran her fingers over it and he shook his head, "No. I don't think so. And I don't plan on telling her. I have no idea what it is. I'm not going to let her see it and I'm not going to talk about it."
"What do you think it is?"
"I don't know." Harry shook his head. She traced it delicately with her fingers and she asked again, "Does it hurt?"
"Sometimes. Sometimes it moves and it stings really bad. Others, I don't even feel it."
"That's really weird."
"I know." Harry nodded. Elizabeth then asked, "Harry, did you find out how you went missing?"
Harry swallowed, blinked, and froze. He shook Elizabeth off of him and snatched his shirt from the ground. He pulled it back over his head and shivered, "Don't ask me about that."
"Was it bad?"
"I said don't ask me about that!" Harry rounded on her. She jumped at his sudden out burst and Harry walked to her, opening up his arms in a sympathetic way, "I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound rude. I shouldn't have said that."
She turned around, ignoring his open arms, and she shook her head, "No. It's okay. I-I guess it's not my business." Harry sighed and began to speak when Elizabeth cut him off in a scared and worried voice, "Harry, there's just one thing I want you to do for me. After tomorrow, I want you to forget about me. I'm just the girl that found you. Nothing more. I can't be anything more. You're Ginny's. Not mine. I don't want to be in the middle of your love."
Harry froze as he stood in the living room and he gazed at her, shaking his head. He stuttered out as quickly as he could, "N-No. No, Elizabeth, darling, no. You can't ask that of me. How can you expect me to force you out of my mind?! Out of my memory?!"
Elizabeth turned sharply to him and said with a power growing in her voice, "If you love me, you will do as I request."
"But I can't just forget about you..." Harry whispered hopelessly. Elizabeth walked up to him, wrapping her arms around his neck and saying as gently as she could, "Tomorrow. After tomorrow. Please, Harry. We have tonight and tomorrow morning to have the memories we can keep with us for the rest of our lives."
Harry swallowed as he gazed into Elizabeth's eyes and he choked out as Elizabeth whispered another beg, "A-All right..."
The next morning, Harry slowly walked down the front steps of Elizabeth's flat, turning back nearly every second to gaze at her crying form as a cab waited on the streets. Harry swallowed, glancing from the cab to Elizabeth, feeling his heart wrench deep inside his chest. With quivering lips, he dropped his only bag and bounded back up the stairs, engulfing her into his arms and sending his lips crashing down upon hers. Elizabeth groaned in pleasure as she flung her arms around his neck and held him tight.
Harry broke away from her lips and closed his swelling eyes as he sniffed and buried his head deep within the depths of her blond curls. The cab honked and a tear rolled down Harry's cheek as he called out to the driver, "Wait!! Just wait one minute!"
"G-Go, Harry." Elizabeth spoke uneasily. Harry kissed her once more and took a step down, watching her as he went down, step by step. Her hand slipped from his grasp and he tried to remember her touch, making sure he would have it memorized for the rest of his life. He swallowed in a hoarse whisper, "I love you..."
"I love you too." she nodded happily. She wiped at her eyes as she watched Harry pick up his bag and make his way to the cab. Harry called back after her, "I'll remember you! I promise I will!"
"You can't remember me. Forget me." Elizabeth shook her head in hysterics. She coughed out, "I'll remember for the both of us, Harry."
Harry swallowed and blinked as tears filled his vision. He nodded and choked out, "O-Okay."
"Okay." he repeated in a whisper. He opened the door and stepped inside, closing it behind him. He gazed to her beautiful form on the stairs as the driver of the cab switched into gear. It began to roll forward when Elizabeth jumped and bounded down calling, "Wait! Wait, no!! Stop! Stop the car!!"
"Damn it, people." the driver cursed as Harry ignored him and rolled down the window. Harry took her hands into his own as Elizabeth paused on the curb. She reached up to her neck and unclasped her diamond cross. With shaking hands, she dropped it into Harry's palm and reached inside to kiss him one more time. She drew away and pursed her lips together as Harry nodded and whispered, "Thank you."
Elizabeth nodded in return and took a step back, watching the driver switch the car into gear again. It slowly lurched forward and then was on its way down the street. In the cab, the driver asked Harry as Harry gazed forward, letting his tears roll down his cheeks, "What kind of goodbye was this? Joining the military or something?"
"No." Harry shook his head, swallowing as his voice croaked and his throat grew raw, "We made a deal."
"And what kind of deal might that be?" the driver asked as they rounded a corner.
Harry's voice was just barely audible when he whispered, "She made me promise to never see her again..."
