Kyra Lake is a fairly pretty girl in her seventh year at Hogwarts. She is in griffindor house and her main fatal flaw according to almost every girl in the school was that she hated the handsome yet overly annoying self-conscious prick Sirius Black.
She sighed as she brushed her long dark brown hair, her sapphire eyes staring back at her in the mirror.
“At least I’ll be with my friends soon” She murmured to herself.
“Kyra” Caroline Lake called from downstairs.
“Coming mum” Kyra called back in reply.
Half an hour later they were at the train station hugging goodbye.
“Promise you’ll write” Caroline said.
“I promise mum”.
“Kyra” a familiar voice called.
She turned around to see her best friend Susan Griggs making her way towards them.
Susan Griggs had been her friend since first form when they first met on the Hogwarts Express. She had long, curly black hair, sky blue eyes and a slight tan and was an extremely friendly and energetic person. She was also the only one in their small group who could put up with the marauders. There was only one marauder the whole group didn’t mind and that was Remus Lupin.
“Hey Susan” Kyra said smiling at her friend
“Shall we find a compartment?” Susan asked.
“Sure. Bye Mum” Kyra said giving her mum one last hug.
“Bye Sweetheart”.
The two girls dragged their trunks onto the train and managed to find an empty compartment. Ten minutes later their other friends Lily Evans, Diana Devine and Alice Clark joined them in the compartment and began chatting happily about their holidays. Lily was extremely pretty with her long wavy auburn hair, emerald green eyes and milky unblemished skin it was no wonder why James Potter liked her so much. Diana was also very pretty; she had long silvery blond hair, pale blue eyes and fair skin. Alice had dark blond hair, a round cheerful face, hazel eyes and a friendly personality and to tell you the truth she didn’t really mind the marauders much either.
“Oh guys I’ve got to go, I have head girl duties,” Lily said smiling apologetically at her friends.
“It’s ok, have fun” Kyra said.
“Yeah bye” the others said.
Two minutes later the compartment door opened again and there stood Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew.
“Hi” Sirius said smiling his gorgeous smile at them, “everywhere else is fill do you mind if we sit here.
Before Kyra could reply Alice said “Sure”.
Kyra glared at her but Alice just shrugged and gave her a smile that clearly read hey they’re not that bad.
Half an hour later went by in an awkward silence when Lily finally returned to the compartment along with James and Remus. The only people who talked during the rest of the train trip were the Marauders, Alice and Susan with Remus occasionally getting a few words out of the other girls.
The start of term feast was wonderful although Kyra often through scathing looks at Sirius who was laughing loudly with his friends’ just ten seats away from her. The girls chatted about what they had done in the holidays. Kyra had gone to her dads’ home in North America, Bermuda for part of the summer since her parents were split up, her dad is a muggle. They had gone horse riding, fishing, went to the Bermuda cathedral, went diving and just really hung out. Susan went to Romania with her parents and younger sister Riley who was in third form and also in griffindor. They had gone to see the dragons and had also gone to a wizarding museum. Lily’s parents had taken her ice-skating along with Petunia. Petunia had sulked because her younger sister had been better then her at it. Diana, her parents and younger brother and sister Bruno who was a fifth form griffindor and Diamond who was a first form griffindor had gone to Italy. They went to the hippogriff races and a world cup quidditch game. And Alice had just gone camping with her parents.
“Now that we are all fed” Dumbledore said getting to his feet and spreading his hands out wide, “I have a few notices. First of the forbidden forest is forbidden to all students as a few of our older students should know by now” he looked directly at Sirius and James with a smile on his face, “and the list of forbidden objects is outside Mr Filch’s office if you would like to know what is forbidden but otherwise have a good sleep.”
As soon as he was finished the five girls jumped to their feet, Lily of course ran of to do her Head Girl duties but the other four headed for the griffindor common room.
“Hippogriff” Alice said once they had reached the portrait hole.
The girl’s clambered inside and ran up the stairs to their dorm. They got changed into their pyjamas Lily had joined them.
“Night” Kyra called.
“Night” the other’s replied.
Kyra sighed and lay back in her bed, Sirius came to her mind but she pushed the thought aside and soon was fast asleep.
