There she was. Just sitting there. Reading a book under a beech tree. It was obvious she was trying to ignore the people making noise around her. I grinned. Remus looked over at me from his seat on his bed where he was reading a textbook. "Oh Merlin. What are you going to do?" he asked warily.
"Nothing," I sing-songed. He narrowed his eyes at me.
"I'm serious. Where are you going?" he asked again.
I mock-gasped. "WHAT?! I thought you were Remus!"
"Oh ha ha," he said dryly. "That's not even funny Prongs."
"Oh you know it was," I retorted.
He rolled his eyes. "You're going to bug Lily aren't you?"
"Nooo," I said in a small voice, looking anywhere but him because I know he'll know I'm lying if I look at him.
He shook his head. "You're just going to make her hate you more James,"
"Nope. This is the year. No, this is the day, She's going to say yes," I said confidently.
"Sure James, listen to Sirius. Don't listen to me when I tell you that you have to be friends with her first," he said wisely.
Since when do I go to Remus for girl advice?? I thought to myself. Oh well, time's a-wastin'. I got up, ignored Remus telling me to stay and not bug her, and walked out of the room.
When I finally got outside, I could tell Lily was furiously trying to ignore everyone else just by the way her eyebrows were furrowing. She had that look around me a lot now that I think of it. Huh. Go figure I thought to myself. I shrugged and began to walk closer to her. I grinned when I saw Sirius flirting with some girl next to the lake. I motioned for him to come over and laughed when I saw him just abandon the girl that was with him without even a goodbye.
"Whats up mate?" he asked. I stopped laughing and looked over at Lily.
"Ooh. Initiate Operation: Impress Evans," he said in a robot-voice.
I looked at him oddly. He is a strange boy, that one. Oh well. You can't blame him. We began to do stupid things to try and impress her. At one point, I tried climbing a tree and accidently fell out of it. I looked over at Lily and could see the corners of her lips twitching as if she was fighting a smile. I grinned at Sirius and he grinned back. I walked over to her and plopped down onto the ground beside her. I looked at her again and all traces of a smile on her face were gone.
"Hey," I said. She nodded. That's it. I risk my life falling out of a tree and when I say hi, all I get is a nod?! Well. This is not over.
"What are you doing?" I asked. She wordlessly raised her book to my face, all the while not taking her eyes off the page.
"Oh," I said. I realized this one-sided conversation is going nowhere so I got up and went back to Sirius. We began to do stupid things to get her to notice me again. And I mean even more stupider things. Like to the point where we'd dive into the lake fully-clothed and swim as far as we could. She didn't even notice. Damn.
A/N: Well?? Good? Bad? To be honest, I didn't really like this chapter. Bit boring for my taste..not as funny as I wanted, but I couldn't do much as I'm a bit rushed. Also, I may not be able to update for a while. I'm sorry..but my sister is getting married next month and she's having a really big wedding and I have to help her get it ready. Oh well. Please review.
