I would like to think all my great friends with the ideas for this chapter.
It had been a week and so many people have visited, such as McGonagall, Dumbledore, and even Petunia. Everyone brought food and presents. But Lily was just glad to have the company. Now things were slowing down a bit I had time to wash the dishes to return to their owners. All of a sudden the doorbell rang. We didn’t expect anymore guests and the truth was we didn’t want anymore. We just wanted to be ALONE. But when I answered the door, I was very surprised to see him standing there.
“James” a cold deep voice said to me, lacking a polite manner in his greeting. It was him the man who had broken my dear Lily’s heart with just one horrid word…. MUDBLOOD. “Where’s Lily? Is she okay?” he asked. I could hear the concern in his voice. He glided over the front step, gazing into all the rooms, searching for her. “Yeah sure come right in” I mumbled under my breathe. “Excuse me.” He said. “I said she’s upstairs in her room, down the hall to your left.” I watched as he slowly moved up the steps. I ran to get my invisibility cloak and made my way towards her room.
I heard someone coming down the hall towards my room. It didn’t sound like James. All of a sudden there was a small knock on the door; I jumped a little at the sound of it. The door suddenly creaked open slowly. A dark, gloomy figure drifted into the room. “Lily?” the figure asked his voice vaguely familiar. “Yes” I answered. “Oh Lily you’re okay. I missed you so much. I thought you were d...d...dead.” The figure said moving closer towards me. A beam of light shone upon his face “Severus!” I sat up in my bed and reached out towards him. He moved in and gave me a hug. He held me tightly as though seeing me for the first time in twenty years.
We talked for what must have been hours and the whole time he sat there looking at me like a little boy and his first crush. I told him about the few years after Hogwarts, and every time I mentioned James’ name, his eyes would fill with rage and jealousy. “How can you love a guy like him? He treated you horribly. He never cared about you.” His voice was filled with fury. “You don’t know him, he’s changed.” I said. “But he never cared about you; I was the one who was there for you.” He screamed. All of a sudden out of nowhere James appeared. He threw himself at Severus holding him back away from me. “Well if you loved me so much why didn’t you just ask me to marry you?” I blurted out, tears streaming from my eyes. If I could run away I would have, but I can’t right now. I wish I could take it back.
Those words made my heart break into a million pieces. It made me question our whole life together. Did she love me, or was she with me just because she couldn’t have him. I could feel my eyes starting to water. I slowly released my grip on Severus. I glanced at his face which was filled with shock. I glanced at Lily. She looked at me her eyes filled with regret and sorrow. She mouthed the words I was questioning now, I LOVE YOU. I felt horrible so I walked out of the room without saying a word. I had to get away from that room, so I walked down the hall as fast as I could without even glancing back. My mind kept going over what had just happened.
I looked Severus in the eyes, they were filled with shock. Finally he broke the silence, “I would have if you didn’t leave me for him.” “What are you talking about?” I asked confused. “You don’t remember? You left me alone at Hogwarts for your so called love of your life.” He said as he walked out of the room not looking back.
Severus walked down the stairs and headed towards the door past me not making eye contact. He walked out the door leaving a cold lonely feeling in the house. For the next two hours I sat in front of the TV looking at old pictures of me and Lily, thinking of how I could fix this. Then all of a sudden I knew the only way to test if she truly loved me.
Please review I am new to writing these kind of stories. Give me pointers.
