**P.S. - Dumbledore is GAY!! I knew it all along. He's way too awesome to be straight.
"Please be safe" Shay said to Sirius and gave him a kiss.
It was the first Order mission and Sirius was going to be out on the field while Shay, along with Niki and Peter, were going to be at Headquarters.
"Don't worry Shay. We'll be back before you know it. But don't stress too much. It's not good for the little guy" Sirius said and rubbed Shay enormous stomach.
She was at nine months and ready to pop.
"Or girl Sirius. Now go kick some ass."
Shay and Sirius kissed again. She knew that she was going to see him again. There wasn't a doubt in her mind. He had to come back; they were having a baby next week. Sirius pulled away and gave her one last smile. He went and joined the rest of the Order that was leaving. Shay gave Sirius one last wave and then he was gone.
"How long do you think they're going to be gone?" Niki asked while she helped Shay sit down.
"A couple hours, I would imagine" Peter said while organizing the papers they had to go over.
"I hope it's soon though" Shay said while situating herself.
"Why? What's wrong?" Niki asked with a concerned tone.
Every since Niki started her healer training, she had been watching over Shay and the baby like a hawk.
"I'm fine, the baby is just being restless today" Shay said and rubbed her stomach.
"Have you had any contractions?" Niki asked seriously.
"No, wait…I don't know" Shay said and started thinking.
Maybe she had one and didn't notice.
"Niki quit interrogating her. She's not having the baby," Peter said in monotone.
"Yea, settle down, I'm not having…" Shay said and stopped in mid sentence.
"What?" Niki asked and Peter looked up from his papers.
"I think my water just broke," Shay said quietly and her eyes widened.
"Are you sure?" Peter asked.
"Yea, I am."
"Then we have to get you to St. Mungo's" Niki said and got up quickly.
"Niki, we can't leave. Plus just because my water broke doesn't mean I'm having the baby quite yet. I haven't even had a contraction yet" Shay said, still a little in shock that it was going to happen soon.
"Fine, but if you get one contraction, we're leaving" Niki said and sat back down.
"How long has it been now?" Shay asked.
"They've been gone for an hour. But everything must be going well because they haven't sent the signal yet" Peter said.
The signal for this mission was Moody's patronus.
"How are you doing Shay?" Niki asked warily.
"Niki, for the hundredth time, I'm fine. I haven't had any contractions yet. Ask me again, and I will strangle you," Shay said the last part under her breath.
"What was that?" Niki asked.
"I said if I have one, I'll tell you" Shay said in a sharp voice.
"That's all I ask."
The thing was, was that Shay had been having contractions. They were small enough to hide, but they were getting stronger each time. But Shay wasn't ready to have the baby. She couldn't leave while the Order was still on the mission. And she knew she couldn't have the baby without Sirius.
“Hold that chair any tighter and your knuckles are going to break through your skin,” Niki said about fifteen minutes after Shay’s contractions started getting bad.
“What are you talking about?” Shay asked while she was trying to catch her breath.
“You’re having contractions. I’ve been watching you for about ten minutes now.”
“Niki, I’m not having…” Shay was stopped by a pain that was more severe than anything she ever experienced.
“Shay, we are going to St. Mungo’s. You’re having the baby” Niki said and got up.
“No, I’m not going. I’m going to wait till Sirius gets back,” Shay said through her contraction.
“Shay, listen to me. If we don’t go to the hospital right now, you will be putting the baby in danger. Would Sirius want you to do that?” Niki asked and looked Shay dead in the eyes.
“No,” Shay whispered quietly.
“Then we’re going. Peter stay here and when they get back, tell Sirius to go to St. Mungo’s immediately” Niki said as she was helping Shay up and directing her toward the fireplace.
There was no way she could apparate at the moment.
“And Peter,” Niki said in a low whisper when Shay was out of ear shot, “if anything happens, send your patronus.”
“I need some help here!” Niki yelled as she and Shay entered St. Mungo’s.
Shay gave a small shout and squeezed Niki’s hand as she had a strong contraction come on. There were nurses around almost immediately after and whisked Shay away, with Niki following closely behind.
“I’m sorry ma’am but you’re going to have to wait outside. Only family is allowed in the emergency room,” one of the nurses said to Niki.
“No, I need her in here. My boyfriend isn’t here yet. I need her to help me,” Shay said frantically.
“Please, she needs someone in there. It’s her first child, she doesn’t know when her boyfriend is going to get here, and she’s scared to death.”
The nurse gave it a quick thought and then moved out of the way so Niki could enter.
Shay had been in the hospital for about an hour and she had a mixed feeling of pain, worriment, and uneasiness.
“Ok Shay, you’re crowning. It’s time to push,” the doctor said and Shay started to cry.
“No not yet. Sirius isn’t here. I can’t do this until I know he’s alive.”
“Shay you don’t have a choice. Sirius is fine. He will be here. But you need to push the baby out. It’s time. You’ve been waiting for this for nine months and now it’s finally here,” Niki said trying to talk Shay down.
“Please Niki, I can’t do this knowing something might be wrong with Sirius,” Shay said through her tears and pain.
“Ok Shay on the count of three I want you to push,” the doctor said and Shay looked at Niki again.
Niki gave her a pleading look and Shay nodded.
Shay yelled as she pushed and nearly broke Niki’s hand from squeezing it so hard.
“That was great Shay. Are you ready to go again?” the doctor asked.
Did she really have a choice? She started to cry again because she felt as if she had no strength left.
“Shay!” they heard as a distant background noise.
Shay immediately became alert.
“Niki he’s here. I know he his.”
Niki went to look in the hall and she saw Sirius running at full speed. He looked like a mess.
“Sirius, hurry up! The baby’s almost here!” Niki yelled and she swore he picked up the pace ten fold.
He reached her finally and he didn’t even seem out of breath.
“She didn’t have the baby yet?” he asked and got ready to enter.
“No, but get in there. She won’t have the baby without you,” Niki said and Sirius broke through the doors.
“Sirius!” Shay yelled and he ran right to her side.
“Shay get ready. On the count of three again. One…two…three.”
“Ok Shay the head is through. One more good push and the baby will be out. One…two…three.”
Shay gave one last push and the baby started crying about 15 seconds later.
“It’s a boy!” the doctor announced.
“Sirius, we have a boy,” Shay said through her tears of joy and exhaustion.
“Yes, we do. Shay I’m so proud of you” Sirius said and kissed her on the forehead.
“Ok Dad. Do you want to cut the umbilical cord?” the nurse asked and Sirius nodded his head.
“I want to see the baby,” Shay said and Sirius brought what looked like a bundle of blankets.
“Here he is,” Sirius said and handed Shay the baby.
“Hi, there. I’m your mommy. And this guy is your daddy. I know we probably looked scary right now. You might as well get used to it. You’ll be seeing us like this a lot,” Shay said and everyone was glad to see she got her sense of humor back right away.
“So, what’s the baby’s name?” the nurse asked.
“Are we going with what we discussed?” Sirius asked.
“Yes. His name is Cillian Rigel Black.”
Shay and Sirius both got cleaned up a little and were just enjoying the feeling of being parents.
“Sirius, he’s so perfect. Ten fingers, ten toes, doesn’t it just seem like he fits perfectly in your arms?” Shay asked while gazing at the baby.
“Yea, I just want to be around him all the time. I don’t know how I’ll go back to work,” Sirius said while smiling down at Cillian.
He had a tight grip on Sirius’s finger.
“Are you three ready for some visitors?” the nurse asked.
“Yes” they both said, ready to show off their baby.
Niki, Remus, Lily, James, and Peter all entered the room with smiles on their faces.
“Hi guys,” Shay said and handed Sirius the baby.
“He’s adorable,” Lily said as Sirius passed the baby onto her.
“How are you feeling Shay?” Remus asked.
“Absolutely perfect,” Shay said.
There was no way she could feel bad at the moment.
“Padfoot, I’ve never seen you move so fast in my entire life. I thought your ass was on fire for a second,” James said and Lily handed him the baby.
“Well I had to get here. I wasn’t going to miss my son being born,” Sirius said and kissed Shay.
“Sirius, he looks just like you. So he’s definitely yours,” Niki joked as she took Cillian from James.
“Ha-ha, you’re very funny. You shouldn’t joke around so much, or else we’ll change our mind,” Sirius said.
“Change your mind on what?” she asked intrigued.
“Well Sirius and I talked it over and we want James to be the godfather and you to be the godmother,” Shay said.
James and Niki bother got smiles on their faces. James knew he was going to be godfather but this was a surprise for Niki.
“Really?” Niki asked.
“Yea, I couldn’t have done this without you. If it wasn’t for you I would have had Cillian at headquarters,” Shay said as Niki handed Remus the baby.
“So, how did the mission go?” Shay asked.
“It went really well. No one was hurt too bad, we fought them off well. Everyone is really excited to see the baby. I’d say it was overall productive day,” Sirius said with a smile.
Shay looked at him with a smile, “Yea, I suppose it was.”
