As she sat cross-legged on her bed, she lay back and closed her eyes, when she heard a faint tapping noise on the window she hopped off the bed a ran to let in the owl. Closing the window behind it, and keeping the cold night air out, she returned to her bed, and jumped onto it, unravelling the scroll of parchment as she did so and began to read.

Hey there Hermione A/N: Pronouced: Herm-eye-knee - It Just Fits =)
What’s it like in
New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away
But girl tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do.
The stars can't shine as bright as you
I swear it's true

As soon as her eyes read the first few words, written in an untidy scrawl across the page, she instantly smiled, as she knew who it was from. She sighed as she remembered what had happened, just a few weeks before she had to return to Hogwarts last year.

FLASHBACK

Hermione flumped down onto the couch of the Burrow, she had just come inside from watching the Weasley’s and Harry play a game of Quidditch, it was a draw, but because the sky started to rumble and lighting flashed as sharp as Harry’s scar, they called it off until tomorrow. Relieved, she ran inside, thunder was something that she did not just dislike, she was terrified of it, of course no knew of this except Ginny, who shared Hermione’s feeling on this one.

The boys came in from the rain that was now falling, followed by Ginny after they had all put their brooms in the broom shed. She watched as the very well toned, young men, walked through the door, shirts sticking to their bodies with a mix of sweat and rain. She jumped up and ran to them with some towels from the kitchen draw. (She was still underage so couldn’t use magic out of Hogwarts).

“Hey, hey, ‘Mione! Calm down!” George spluttered, his mouth filled with the water dripping from his hair, mistaking Hermione’s hope to get the thunder off her mind as eagerness to help.

“You’ll get ill if you don’t get warm and dry!” she retorted, wrapping the last towel around him, and then she looked quickly at the window as she saw a flash come down, and then back at George. Her face showed completely that she was scared out of her wits. Trying to hide the look on her face, she quickly turned around and slumped back onto the couch and started to read.

Hey there Hermione
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this owl another letter
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice it's my disguise
I'm by your side

Midnight was gaining, very quickly indeed, it felt like only five minutes ago that they were in the kitchen, dripping wet, with Hermione tending to their needs, now, however, they were all sat comfortably, taking up all the seats and most of the floor in the living room.

Charlie stood up from his position on the floor.

“I don’t know about you guys, but I’m beat, so I’ll see y’all tomorrow.” He yawned, walking towards the fire place and taking a handful of floo powder.

“Yeah, me too, been a good day though… ‘Night”

Bill stood up and followed his brother into the fire, and with a roar of flames he also vanished.

All that remained in the living room were Fred and George, Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny. They glanced at one another as if to say exactly what Fred did say.

“Let the games begin!”

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me

Half an hour later, they were all sat around the kitchen table, with half-a-dozen empty bottles of Butterbeer and they were all laughing gleefully. They didn’t have to worry about Molly or Arthur over-hearing them as Fred had cast a silencing charm.

Hermione had just explained as many muggle games she could think of and they were now choosing which one to play.

All of them sounded quite fun, there was truth or dare, (Fred and George had pleaded to play this so badly), seven minutes in heaven, as a group they had decided this would be wrong because there was only two people who weren’t family, so it wouldn’t work well (Ginny was very interested in this one though), spin the bottle, which would also be difficult, and a few other random games she used to play.

They finally decided on truth or dare, seeing as Fred and George literally got on their knees and begged.

“Hermione, since you thought of it, you can go first.” Harry said.

“Okay… Hmm… Harry, truth or dare?”

She looked expectantly at Harry, he seemed to be judging what Hermione’s dare’s would be like.

“Dare.” He replied, with an added “Oohhh!” from the twins.

Hermione smiled as she looked at Ginny and then whispered something to her, she then turned to face Harry and told him that he had to go outside and run around the Weasley’s Quidditch pitch, claiming that he was gay.

His face matched his thoughts.

-That’s not too bad, who’d be outside this time of night to hear me anyway?”-

“Alright, that’s easy enough.” He laughed.

“And, just one more thing.” George spoke up, seeing Harry’s confidence.

“What?”

“You’ve got to be wearing only your boxer’s.”

Hermione smiled triumphantly as she held back a laugh and watched his face, turn from happiness to shock.

“Otherwise you’ll have to forfeit!” Fred added.

Hey there Hermione
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this joke-shop
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good

Hermione and George, payback time, for what you made me do!” Harry exclaimed, after he’d done many dares and a few truths, everybody had had their laughs and it was now Harry’s go.

“Dare!” said George instantly, casting an apologetic look at Hermione, but seeing her smiling, and not caring that she had to do a dare he laughed silently.

“I dare you-“ he started, before Ron started whispering in his ear about what he should make them do.

Hey there Hermione
I've got so much left to say
If every simple owl I sent to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all

Hermione and George were outside, in the rain, and in the thunder. How she had got talked into doing this she’d never know, put something inside her made her -want- to do this.

George had gone to the shed and brought out his broomstick, he was now showing Hermione how to get on it, and she was trying, but every time the sky yelled with an angry rumble, she jumped out of her skin. He’d finally given up and came up behind her after her ninth try to get on, he wrapped his arms around her waist and hoisted her onto the broom whilst she was screaming and laughing at the same time, he then jumped on behind her and kicked off holding on to the broom with one hand and Hermione with the other, making sure she didn’t try and get off it. She squealed as they went soaring high up into the sky. Hermione also didn’t like flying, especially in a thunder storm.

“Put both your hands on the handle in front of you!” George yelled so she could here him.

She unwillingly obliged, closing her eyes tight shut as she did so.

When she was gripping the broom properly, George tried to take his arm away from her waist so she could control it, but felt Hermione’s hands let go of the broom and grab his arm, she turned her head towards George, with a frightened look on her face, she looked into his eyes, searching for something she could trust, something that would tell her she was going to be okay, as long as he was there.

She found it.

George looked down into Hermione’s face, her beautiful brown eyes shined with fear, he tightened his grip around her waist and saw he smile slightly, he steered the broom still higher and to the west.

“Where are we going George? My dare was to get on the broom, fly around the Quidditch pitch a couple of times and then go back inside!” she yelled behind her.

She was shocked by the answer being whispered into her ear.

“But that was a pathetic dare. And the game’s getting boring now, I thought I’d go on an adventure.”

“But I’m still here!”

“I know, but I might as well make the best of you being on a broom.” He winked, as she turned around and gave him a strange look.

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me

They landed somewhere that looked an awful lot like the lake in the Weasley’s garden, but it turns out, it was, just the other side of the garden wall.

There was a tree house built in a nearby tree, it was from the bottom of the trunk and reached almost the top.

“Did you build this?” she asked him, ducking through the door and looking up into the expanded inside, it looked an awful lot like the tent they had at the Quidditch world cup.

“Well, not just me, we all did, Dad used and enlargement charm for the inside, me and Fred added a room onto the back of it though.” George gestured to the place next to the couch.

ermoineHermione walked towards it and touched the place he had talked about.

“Is there a password?”

“No, you just have to think about the thing that you most want right now, and for it to be in that room and then you can walk straight through.” She turned around and smiled at him, that was complex magic that, sort of like the room of requirement and the barrier to platform 9 and ¾.

She thought hard about what she wanted.

-I want this thunder storm to be gone, somewhere I can feel safe.-

A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got brooms and floo and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way

She closed her eyes and walked towards the wall, when she didn’t feel anything, she thought it might have been another one of the twins tricks and should have known better than to trust their judgement.

She opened her eyes and expected him to be laughing at her., but what she saw was amazing.

It looked like a cross between Gryffindor common room, her bedroom and the burrow.

Floating candles were lit at the edges of the room. She spun around and landed with a “Phlumph” On the sofa.

“I see, so this is what you were thinking?” laughed George as he came in from the door that had just appeared by the bed.

-Wait? Bed? That wasn’t there a minute ago was it?-

He came over and sat down next to her.

“No thunder storms in here-“ He observed.

“-I take it you thought of them not being there? … I know your shit scared of them, I watched you jump out of your skin!”

”I… Well… Yeah.” She said, defeated, risking a glance up to his eyes and then back to her feet.

“It’s nothing to be ashamed of.” He replied, as she raised her head and opened her mouth to start to speak, closed it again and then actually spoke.

“But, thousands of people aren’t scared! They don’t seem to mind, I read somewhere that it has someth-“

She was cut off by George.

She closed her eyes, again she moved her mouth, but this time is was not to speak.

George’s strong, well toned arms were around her waist again, she felt their warmth as she lifted her arms up and ran her hands through his soft hair, tugging at the ends slightly.

He lifted her onto him, not breaking contact. They were now lying on the sofa.

She had kicked her trainers off earlier, but now she was kicking his shoes off.

Our friends would all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Hermione I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame

Hermione felt the butterflies in her stomach and let out a soft moan as George’s hands ran up her back on the inside of her shirt, she moved her hands from his hair and moved them to his chest. Tracing the muscles with her fingers, she felt his heart race at her touch.

She pulled away from the kiss to catch her breathe and George started to kiss her neck, making his mark. Hermione suddenly realised that George had un-done her bra and gasped.

George smiled and took the chance to engaged his lips with hers again, he bit lightly on her lip, asking for entrance which she willingly gave, their tongues danced with each other and George let out an involuntary moan as Hermione’s hands reached his belt. He immediately began to unbutton her shirt.

“George…the…bed…” Hermione managed to get out in between kisses.

He broke apart.

“Are you sure? There’s no going back afterwards.”

Hermione nodded and bit her lip seductively, she grabbed him and pulled him over to the bed.

She pushed him into the bed and climbed onto him, gently taking his top over his head, as he slipped her bra from her shoulders.

END FLASHBACK

Hey there Hermione
You be good and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You'll know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there Hermione here's to you
This ones for you

She remembered that night so well, she wished that every day could have been like that, but now they were miles apart, Hermione at Hogwarts, George at work, they met regularly as much as they could. But she missed him, of course she’d seen him almost every day over the summer this year, but she was now back at Hogwarts for her last year. And she missed her fiancé so much.

Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me.
