Chapter One: Just The Beginning

As Hermione Granger boarded the Hogwarts Express, her heart was weighed heavily. She had a terrible secret and did not know who she could trust with it.

Instantly her mind went to her best mates, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, even Ginny Weasley, but she did not know who they would react to this kind of secret.

It was not a question of trust, perhaps it was once she told them she knew how they were going to look at her and she did not want anyone to look at her like that, especially her friends.

That would have killed her right then and there.

No, she could do this alone, she had too.

No one would know and it would be easier this year then if it had happened any other year, because this year she was head girl and got her own dorm, unfortunately she knew exactly who her counterpart was going to be, and that was none other the Draco Malfoy.

Hermione hated this idea, but at least it was someone who hated her and would take no notice at her odd behavior and would probably just write it off as some kind of mudblood oddity.

Satisfied with her decision she found the compartment where he friends were waiting for her, laughing as she walked in, greeting her warmly.

She knew that if she could get through the next few months without being noticed that she would be fine.

She was sure of that.

"Hey guys." said Hermione as she hugged each of her friends tight; she had missed them like crazy.

"So, what was your summer like?" she asked as she looked at the boys, Ginny was busy with a conversation she was holding with Luna.

"Oh it was loads of fun Hermione, you should have stayed longer."

"I know, but my parents really wanted me to go to the states with them." she said with a small smile and they nodded as they continued to go on with a play by play of their summer.

When Hermione looked at her watch, she got her friends attention.

"Sorry guys, I have to go."

"Where?" asked Harry as Hermione gave them all a sly smile.

"I made head girl." she said as she smiled, skipping out. The moment she left the compartment, her happiness went away.

She already felt weird around them, almost as if she didn’t fit in anymore.

As she got in the carriage with her friends, she wanted nothing more then to forget about the heads compartment.

Malfoy was even more of an ass then he usually was, and people were looking at her oddly.

Had Ron and Harry forgot to tell her that her hair looked even more like a rat nest the usual?

She couldn’t place it and she would rather it that they didn’t look at her.

It made her very uneasy.

Once they got to the castle, and people continued to stare, Hermione felt very uneasy and almost like she would rather skip the feast all together.

Instead as they sat down she looked over to Ginny, and whispered to her.

"Ginny is there something on my face, everyone is staring." She said as Ginny looked at her as if she was crazy.

"What Gin?"

"Hermione do you not have a mirror?" she asked as Hermione thought, ‘No I broke all of them.’ then she also wondered hoe bad she looked.

"What is it?" asked Hermione, she felt dreadful now.

"Hermione you look amazing. I don’t know how you can’t see it. You look, mature." said Ginny, using the word carefully.

Hermione looked at Ginny, shocked.

That’s what everyone was looking at her?

Because she looked mature?

Well she did notice that her bra was getting a bit smaller and if she wasn’t careful she would fall out soon, or that her braids kept her crazy hair in check and away from her face.

But she never thought any of these things would make her look so much more different.

So her breast grew a little, now everyone was staring.

‘Agh.’ she thought as she looked around, a few of the males in the school looking at her, nodding their heads at her.

"Oh good lord." said Hermione as she turned back in her seat and drank her pumpkin juice, Dumbledore stepping up to give his speech.

Once Dumbledore’s speech was done and Draco and Hermione were introduced as the new heads, everyone went off to their dorms.

Everyone was tired and were glad that the next day was Saturday, meaning no school for the next two days.

Hermione said goodbye to her friends and promised that she would meet them in the Great Hall in the morning.

Once the Great Hall was emptied of all its students but two, Dumbledore showed Hermione and Draco to their dorms on the third floor.

"And here is your door. Passwords Twilight. You can change it, but only with the knowledge of the other head, understood?" asked Dumbledore as Hermione and Draco nodded, Dumbledore letting them in. Everything is marked. Bathroom is in the middle, Miss Granger your bedroom is to the right, Mr. Malfoy, yours is to the left. Have a good night and congratulations." said Dumbledore as he let himself out.

Draco and Hermione stood there for a moment, admiring their common room, they were both sure that half of the library was in there. Hermione felt like she was in some kind of heaven.

'Bitter sweet.’ she thought as she walked away from Draco and to her bedroom, not even giving him another glance as she closed the door behind her.

All of her emotions were overwhelming her at this moment and it took all of her self control not to cry at this moment.

Because even if Draco didn’t care, she knew he would hear her and tell everyone the next morning and her object this year was not to be noticed.

Hermione sighed as she opened her trunk and pulled out her messenger bag and dumped it on the bed, looking through it.

When she found it she ran her fingers over the shiny cold metal.

She bought this only days ago, and she didn’t even know why.

Of anyone ever saw it questions would be brought up and she would have no explanation.

Maybe once she could figure out why she bought it, she would have an explanation for her friends, but until then she placed it in the side table, and closed it.

Not wanting to think about it for now.

She quickly changed into her pj pants, a tank top and a half sweater she absolutely adored and grabbed the book she had been reading and headed to the common room.

The moment she walked into the common room she saw Draco’s blond hair already in the chair by the fire, reading as well.

"Oh." she said louder then she meant and Draco’s head snapped up to her, his eyes glaring.

"What are you doing in here?"

"Well your not the only one who lives here. You should get that into your thick head. And I came down here so I could read."

"Read in your room."

"You."

"I was here first."

"So?" she asked as she stared him down, walking to the couch opposite of him, taking the seat, ignoring his glares.

Now she was having some mood problems; first she was upset, and now she was a bitch.

‘Great.’ she thought as she as she opened her book, picking up where she had left off.

It would have been perfect if Draco wouldn’t have been sighing every few minutes.

As if he was really annoyed she was sitting there in the common room with him.

But she was not going to give in, he was trying to bait her, to make her even more upset and it was not going to work.

She was going to sit there in front of the fire and read her book.

She had the right to.

As she read, she noticed that Draco had stopped sighing and now she felt his disgusted gaze on her.

‘Great.’ she thought once more.

Now he was going to annoy her with staring at her.

‘At least there’s only one of them.’ She thought as she turned the page.

She thought it was funny that Dumbledore had chosen the password ‘Twilight’ as she was reading the book by an American called, ‘Twilight’.

It was a wonderful vampire love book.

Same old story of the lion falling for the lamb.

She couldn’t understand why she loved it so, but she did.

She had just gotten to the chapter where Edward takes Bella to his meadow and explains to her who he feels about her, but also how dangerous it is for her to be around him.

That is when Draco marched over and took the book from her.

"What is this? Muggle filth?" he asked as he scan the pages as Hermione tried to get her book back, but Draco was taller then her and held it above her head.

"Give it back Malfoy."

"Why you reading this Granger? Finally understood that no ones ever going to want you?" he asked with a sneer as she jumped up on the couch and grabbed her book from his hands, smacking him with it.

"I’m reading it because its beautiful, but its not as if a slimy git like you would know what that is." she said as she walked to her room, slamming the door behind her.

As Hermione sat on her bed she knew she would have hell to pay in the morning, that he would have something nasty planned for her, but right now she was glad that she had gotten her book back, and that was all that mattered.

Hermione laid back on her bed, propping the book up on her chest with a hand on her stomach.

She couldn’t let anything slip from this moment on, she couldn’t let anyone get too close, she had something else to think of now; keeping her secret a secret.

As Hermione fell asleep, a nightmare started: she was in love with Draco Malfoy and he was taunting her endlessly as he friends abandoned her, and in the back there was a crying, and she could not figure out where it was coming from.

A/N: Twilight for those who do not know is a real book by Stepheine Meyer.  Really good book.  I suggest everyone read it.
