"Shay, you are pregnant," Dumbledore said.
Shay started to laugh.
"Oh, wow. Professor, you are funny. If this headmaster thing doesn't work out you should try for a comedian. You almost gave me a heart attack. Now really, what's wrong?"
"Shay I am not joking. You are almost a month a long."
Shay and Sirius started having sex about a month ago, so it added up.
"Ok, I think I'm having that heart attack now," Shay said.
"I know this is big news, that's why I wanted to tell you myself."
"Is it ok? I hit that wall really hard."
"Surprisingly, the baby is perfectly healthy. I'm going to have Madame Pomfrey give you another sleeping potion. You need to recover. You have two people to take care of now," Dumbledore said.
"Alright. Professor, are you mad at Sirius and I?" Shay asked.
"No Miss Calhoun I am not. But we will need to talk about you and Mr. Black's futures. We especially need to talk about the Order."
Shay nodded her head and waited for her sleeping potion.
When Shay woke up again, it was dark outside. The only light in the infirmary was coming from a couple candles. She was wondering how long she was out, when she saw a shadow moving around. She squinted to see who it was.
"Who's in here?" she asked.
The shadow walked over to her bed.
"Shhh. It's just me."
"Sirius, what are you doing?" Shay asked him.
"I got bored so I decided to draw on their faces" Sirius said and sat on her bed.
Shay looked over at James. Sirius had given him a unabrow and a case of the spots. Shay then looked over at Remus who was on her left. He seemed to miraculously grow a handle bar moustache and a smiley face on his forehead.
"Sirius, they are all going to kill you," Shay said while trying not to laugh too hard.
"The best part is that ink won't come off for at least a week," Sirius said and Shay snorted.
"If I have one spot of ink on me, I'm never talking to you again."
"Don't worry. You woke up before I could get to you," Sirius said with a smile.
Shay looked into Sirius's eyes and wondered how she was going to tell him.
"I, um…I'm…I'm uh…I'm glad you're ok," Shay said.
"Stupid mouth. Why won't it let the words come out?" Shay thought to herself.
"Yea, it was intense. How is your back?" Sirius asked.
"I still can't move too much. I'm going to have to stay in here for a couple days," Shay said.
It was true that her back hurt but it should be healed by tomorrow. Professor Dumbledore and Madame Pomfrey wanted to keep Shay in there for a couple days so they could keep an eye on the baby and make sure it was ok.
"I'll let you go back to sleep then. And Shay"
"If anyone asks, I was sound asleep all night."
"I got your back babe," Shay said and Sirius gave her a kiss goodnight.
"Sirius get this off now!" Shay heard Lily yell.
She started laughing before she even opened her eyes.
"I don't know how to get it off because I didn't do it," Sirius said.
Shay opened her eyes and saw Lily standing there. Her nose was completely black and it looked like she was punched in both eyes. Shay busted out laughing and Lily turned and gave her an evil look.
"You did this, didn't you?"
"Yea, Lily. I magically stretched my arm to reach all of you. I can't even sit up. How could I draw on your face?" Shay asked still laughing.
"This isn't funny. I'm Head Girl. How is anyone going to take me seriously?" Lily asked.
"Aw, come on Lil, I kind of like it. I've always wanted to grow a beard," Niki said.
She had a beard that covered the bottom half of her face.
"Damn Niki, you look hot," Shay said.
"Yea, I always wanted to date a bearded lady," Remus said sarcastically.
"How come you and Sirius don't have anything on your face?" Peter asked with his muttonchops and Hitler moustache.
"A lot of people love our faces. Who would want to make a mess of them?" Shay said jokingly.
"Yea, our faces are untouchable. It just deflects the ink right off," Sirius said.
"You guys are idiots. I'll just use a make up charm," Lily said.
"It won't work. I made sure," Sirius let it slip out.
"I knew it was you!" Lily said and stomped her foot.
"I see you all are feeling better. By the way, the make up is brilliant," Dumbledore said with a smile.
"Thanks Professor. As you can see I'm a master at my art," Sirius said, stretched out on his bed.
"Now that you're all awake I can tell you how proud I am of you all. You went beyond my expectations. You all did not have to step in, but you did and you saved lives."
"We're just getting some practice in, Professor," James said.
"And now it is time for you to get more practice in. All of you except Miss Calhoun have to go to class."
Everyone except Lily and Remus had disappointed looks on their faces, hoping Dumbledore would have forgot about classes. They all slowly filed out until it was only Shay, Dumbledore, and a couple other students on the other side of the room.
"When are you planning on telling him?" Dumbledore questioned.
"How do you know if I told him or not?" Shay asked.
"By the way you look at him. Are you nervous or scared?"
"A little of both. More or so petrified and I don't know why. I tried to tell him last night and I couldn't get the words out. I know Sirius well enough to know that he'll support me. I just haven't processed this whole having a baby thing yet" Shay said.
"Very well. One more thing Miss Calhoun. I suppose that your answer is no," Dumbledore said.
He was talking about the Order.
"Not that I'm aware of. My answer hasn't wavered yet," Shay said.
"I hope you remember the danger that may occur if you say yes," Dumbledore said.
"And I hope you know the danger that may occur if I say no. I've crossed a lot of people and I'd rather have something happen knowing that I'm doing anything possible to stop these people. It's if I don't do anything about it, that will get to me."
Two days had passed and Shay and the baby were in perfect health. The day before it had hit her that she was pregnant. It's all she thought about. She was very conscious of her stomach now and always had a hand or a book over it even though there wasn’t any signs of showing. She tried to act as normal as possible, not wanted to bring to much attention to herself.
"Hey Shay, are you ready?" James asked.
"Ready for what?" she asked and looked up from her homework.
Shay had totally forgotten about quidditch. She couldn't play when she was pregnant. But how was she going to tell James that? She had to tell him though so he could find a new beater.
"Uh, James, can you sit down? I need to talk to you," Shay said.
James sat down and waited for her to talk.
"I can't play quidditch anymore," Shay said quickly.
"Are you kidding me?" James asked.
"No. I'm sorry James. I really am," Shay said.
"I don't understand. You love quidditch. Why can't you play?"
"James I can't tell you why."
"You know what Shay, I think I deserve to know why. This could ruin our quidditch season," James said getting angry.
"James, I can't play because I'm pregnant."
"YOU'RE PREGNANT?!" James exclaimed.
Shay jumped and put her hands over his mouth.
"SHHH! I'm sure every Gryffindor knows now," Shay said.
"Sorry. You're not kidding are you? Does Sirius know yet?"
"I'm being dead serious, and no, Sirius doesn't know yet. I've been trying to tell him, it's just really hard."
"You realize you have to tell him soon," James said.
"I know, I feel terrible keeping this from him, it's just…"
Shay paused because she felt tears coming on.
"Just what? You can tell me."
Warm tears streaked down her face when she started talking.
"I'm so afraid James."
"Afraid to tell Sirius? Because I know he'll stand by your side. He loves you."
"No, I know he will. I'm afraid the world I'm going to be bringing this child into."
"I’m not understanding what you mean" James said.
"This world! It's dangerous. There's been more Death Eater attacks. Three kids just died at Hogsmeade. If you can't be safe under Dumbledore's watch, you can't be safe any where. I don't know if I want my child to grow up in this kind of world."
"A parent's job is to protect their children. I know for a fact that you and Sirius will do everything in your power to protect that child and that's all that matters."
"I told Dumbledore that I'm still going to join the Order. I can't back away from it, no matter what's going on."
James was silent for a while.
"Merlin Shay. You're going to make this tough."
"What do you mean?"
"I know that nothing will stop you from joining. I love Lily, I want to live the rest of my life with her and have kids with her, and I'm not going to put my family on hold because of Voldemort. But Sirius is the most protective person I know. He's already made a couple comments about you joining and he doesn't like the idea. He'll throw a fit when he finds out that you're pregnant with his child and are still going to join."
"I'm going to have to tell him tonight, aren't I?" Shay asked.
"Probably. He's going to be wondering why you quit."
"Are you mad that you have to find another beater?"
"Well it’s the last thing I wanted to do but there’s no way I can be mad at you. At least you have a good reason. But you better be at every game cheering us on and you have to promise me that your kid will be one hell of a quidditch player."
"I promise. You better go. You're about ten minutes late. And James, only you, Professor Dumbledore, and Madame Pomfrey know, so don't tell anybody."
"I shall lock it up and swallow the key," James said.
"How can you swallow the key when your lips are sealed?" Shay asked.
"I don't know. I'll think about it and get back to you."
'9 'o clock. Damn, I should get back to the common room' Shay thought to herself.
She had gone to the Room of Requirement because she was getting the third degree about not being at quidditch practice from Lily, Niki, Remus, and Peter. So for four hours she went over how she was going to tell Sirius about the baby.
"This place is so creepy some times," Shay said as she walked down the corridor.
She didn't like walking in the corridors by herself at night unless she had James's invisibility cloak, which was rare, he didn't even trust Sirius or Lily with it. The one thing she liked was seeing who met up with who in the corridors after hours. She always found the oddest couples that no one ever believed. Shay came to a couple that went from PG-13, right past R, and were heading straight for XXX.
"Get a room," Shay said as she walked by the couple.
"Mind your own business and fuck off,” Regulus said and then turned back to the girl.
"I do believe that she isn't the girl formally known as my sister."
The girl was one of Courtlyn's friends.
"Don't you ever shut up?" Regulus asked sharply.
"Actually, go ahead and continue. She deserves to get cheated on and you deserve to get an STD," Shay said and walked away.
"Welcome back," Sirius said as she entered the common room.
"Hey there, guess what I just saw."
"Your brother is cheating on my former sister with one of her best friends, who, I know for a fact, has had sex with Lucius Malfoy, Evan Rosier, and Severus Snape. Yes, Severus has had sex," Shay said and laughed because she knew this would disturb Sirius.
"Come on Shay! I don't want to hear about that! It's burning my mind knowing someone actually had sex with Snivelly. UGH! Bad images!"
"Sorry but if I have to know that information, then you have to know that information," Shay said and sat next to him on the couch.
"Can I ask you a question?" Sirius asked.
"Why did you quit quidditch?"
