It was the day before their children were to board the Hogwarts Express and leave for school. It was obvious that, although they knew it was the only thing to do, Harry and Ginny Potter were not keen on leaving their beloved children, James, Lily and Albus until Christmas time. On the contrary, the three children were excited beyond belief to go to/return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, especially Lily who had never been before. Both James and Albus had been sorted into Gryffindor house, as was expected considering that both Ginny and Harry were of that house, not to mention their entire families who had been in it before them. Harry’s parents, James and Lily Potter, as well as Ginny’s family of Percy, Bill, Charlie, Fred, George and Ron Weasley. In other words, the chances were great that Lily too would be sorted into Gryffindor. That day went by very quickly.
The next morning, Harry, Ginny, James, Albus and Lily went off to Kings Cross Station to board the Hogwarts Express. At the station, Albus and James ran onto the train, greeting their friends as they passed. James waving to his best mates Nate and Bray, Albus hopping into the compartment with his friends and Lily, standing sheepishly next to her mother and father.
“Daddy, I’m nervous.”
Harry smiled at his daughter’s nerves.
“Lily you’ll be fine. You’ll be with your cousin Rose on the train, and I’m sure you’ll meet new friends as well.”
Lily ran to Rose Weasley, her blonde hair sweeping with her step; Rose embraced her with open arms.
“Lily! I’m so glad you’re here. I’m so nervous!”
Lily laughed. The two girls talked for a while and got on the train, both waving one last goodbye to their parents. Harry and Ginny met up With Ron and Hermione Weasley. Ron and Harry hugged, as did Ginny and Hermione. Ron planted a kiss on the side of Ginny’s head.
“Ronnykins, stop! I’m not 16 anymore.”
Ron blushed at Ginny’s use of his childhood nickname.
“Ginevra I swear, if I ever get my hands on you-“
Hermione stepped between them, and then continued her talk with Harry.
“Siblings!” she said, shaking her head in disbelief.
“Yeah, something you and I have never had to worry about.” He winked at her and hugged her tightly.
“Um, excuse me Sir, she’s my wife.” Rom said jokingly.
“ALL ABOARD!”
The four friends heard two faint “Bye Mum! Bye Dad!”s before the train began to puff on its way. Parents were all yelling and waving, and Harry could have sworn he even say a few mothers cry.
ABOARD THE HOGWARTS EXPRESS
Lily looked outside the door of her compartment and saw James buying sweets off of the trolley that was coming down the aisle. She motioned for Rose to get out her money, but ended up buying pumpkin pasties, chocolate frogs and Bertie Botts’ Every Flavour Beans for the both of them. However, there was another girl in their compartment. She had long, flowy brown hair and sharp, yet cute features.
“What’s your name?” Lily asked, surprising herself at her new found confidence.
The girl seemed startled.
“I’m Corinne. Corinne Carlisle - but friends call me Cori.”
Lily smiled, excited that she had made a new friend.
“I’m Lily, Lily Potter, and this is Rose Weasley.”
Rose gave a tidily wave at Cori, who waved back before thinking to herself –
“Wait. You’re a Potter? Like, related to Harry Potter? The boy who lived and saved us all from the Dark Lord Voldemort twice?”
Lily blushed, and then replied.
“Yes, I suppose so. And, for the record, Rose here is Harry’s best friends’ daughter.”
Rose pretended to reach down into her bag to get something, but Lily caught the timid blush on her cheeks as well.
Corinne looked amazed. Her hair immediately turned to a bright pink, and caused both Lily and Rose stared at her hair for a long while before Cori caught on.
“Oh, I forgot to tell you – I’m a metamorphagus. Basically, my hair colour changes based on my mood.” She looked genuinely proud of herself.
Lily, Rose and Cori talked the entire trip, and when the 5-minute mark was announced, the three of them changed into their school clothes.
