"Any Other World"

In any other world
You could tell the difference
And let it all unfurl
Into broken reminants

Sirius Black sat in his old bedroom. He never ever thought he would have to return to the retched house in which he grew up.

If these walls could talk- they’d choose not to.

Smile like you mean it
And let yourself let go

Dumbledore needed this house for the new headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix. It was ideal- protected to virtually undetectable status by his father. He might as well try to clean up the room. No one had been in this room in nearly nineteen years. Dust had accumulated, and it was exactly how he had left it the night he ran away. (Maybe not exactly…)

He sighed and stood up; Sirius thought it might be a laugh to see what was in his closet after all this time. He walked across the room, and past various posters of cars, and swimsuit model muggles. He couldn’t help but try unsuccessfully suppress a chuckle at the sight of the unmoving posters; he had tried to do anything to annoy his parents.

He finally reached the closet doors and threw them open. There was nothing there except for one lonely box sitting on the upper self. He reached up and pulled it down. There was at least an inch and a half of dust; he brushed it off. There in his sixteen-year-old self writing was the words: Abigail Stuff.

The box had been ripped open and hastily shut again… nineteen years ago.

Cos it's all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Take a bow, play the part of a lonely lonely heart
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
To the world you thought you lived in

His heart stopped. He hadn’t thought about Abigail- in God knows how long. He had pushed all thoughts, memories… of her, to the darkest, deepest corners of his mind.

I tried to live alone
But lonely is lonely, alone
So human as I am
I had to give up my defences

Abigail Stewart. She was the one girl he could say he truly loved.

And it was his entire fault she wasn’t here anymore.

She and Sirius had been together for eight months the day he walked out of his terrible, horrible no good house. His parents were beyond furious. They wanted to disown him, and forget all traces of Sirius Black- but not before getting their revenge.

So I smiled and tried to mean it
To let myself let go

He had forgotten to grab the box.

He forgot to grab the freaking box.

It had not occurred to him at the time to grab the box filled of things his parents would not understand. He had simply forgotten.

Cos it's all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Take a bow, play the part of a lonely lonely heart
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
To the world you thought you lived in

Abigail was a ‘mudblood’. Not that his parents knew- well not until they found the stupid box.

He bit back the tears fueled by guilt and bitter-sweet love. He took a commanding breath and opened the box, plunging his hand into the darkness.

A broken frame containing a picture of an alive and healthy Sirius and blonde girl with startling blue eyes revealed itself. She was a show- stopper. Sirius had his arm around her waist and hers around his. He turned it over in his hands- something was written on the back:

I love you Sirius Black… even though I have no idea how it happened.
Forever,
Abby

She had liked to kid around as much as he did. She was the only person who ever fought against the Marauder’s pranks with clever schemes of her own. That was why he was so damn attracted to her.

Cos it's all in the hands of a bitter, bitter man
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Take a bow, play the part of a lonely lonely heart
Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
To the world you thought you lived in

The night he ran away his mother had searched to find something that she could use against her former son. She stumbled upon a box in his closet.

“Oh yes… this will work just fine.” She said, malice dripping from every word; she had seen enough of the contents to guess that this little “Abigail Stewart” was a mudblood.
“Regulus!”

“Y- yes mother?” said a fifteen year old boy with charming features.

“Does your Lord agree that blood-traitors need to be punished?” she asked, her voice changing to dangerously sweet.

“Yes.”

“Very good… take this to him… I’m sure he can find a- creative way of dealing with this.”

“Y-yes mother.” And without further ado, Regulus disapparated. He did not want to do it, but he had no choice. If he didn’t; his mother would find out… and what would happen then… he did not like to think.

And Lord Voldemort did find a creative way to deal with destroying the heart of a blood traitor figuratively, and quite literally that of a mud-blood.

The next day Abigail Stewart was found dead.

Sirius was beyond crushed. He had not loved anyone every since. He couldn’t let himself. He had never been fully alive ever since. It was like a part of himself had perished along with Abby.

Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in
Say goodbye

Sirius stuffed the entire contents of the box back into it and walked out of the house. He walked outside of the anti-dissaperation wards set- up outside of his house and vanished on the spot.

In any other world
You could tell the difference

He rematerialized inside of graveyard at a tombstone that read:

                 Abigail Stewart
                     1960- 1976
“There is only one happiness in life,
              to love and be loved.”

Silent tears trickled down his face as he read the old marble stone. He gently laid the box right in front of the grave.

“I’m so sorry Abby.” And with that, he returned once more to the prison to outsiders might be called home, but with a new outlook. He felt as if a weight had been lifted. He would never forget Abby, but he would live his life, what he had left of it.

I never ever, I forget my story.
My face is not sad, but sometimes, I am sad.
