Shit shit shit shit!!!! What the fuck? Why didn’t she tell me? How long has mom known? I mean my father… my FATHER is alive! This is great... isn’t it? Does he have another family? Does he know I exist? Will he want to meet me? Do I want to meet him? Why isn’t Alli so upset? He’s her father too! Tom had been walking around aimlessly for over an hour now and his head wasn’t getting any clearer. Thinking about it all was just making him get a headache. Tom slowed down and stopped. He was in a random hallway. Out the window was a large lake, Tom could of sworn he saw something come out of the water for a second before it disappeared. Tom stood there, staring at the lake for a couple of minutes before he sighed and leant his back against the wall and slid down to the floor. He put his elbows on his knees and put his face in his hands, taking deep breaths and thinking. He sat there for about five minutes before he heard footsteps coming closer. Tom looked up slightly, expecting to see Alli or Hermione when he saw some black converse All stars. Tom looked up and saw a girl looking down at him with a slightly concerned look on her face. She had black skinny jeans on and a Ramones band tee shirt on. Her hair was blonde with purple streaks in it.
“Alright?” She asked, squatting down so she was at the same level as Tom.
“Meh.” Tom said, shrugging his shoulders, “Just having a bad day.”
“Cheer up emo kid.” The girl said, smiling at him she changed her position and sat on the floor with her legs folded underneath her, Tom couldn’t understand why she called him an emo. That was until he looked at what he was wearing. He had on his black cargo pants and a plain black tee-shirt, it was his lazy day clothing. “I’m Charlie by the way.”
”Tom.” Tom said, wondering why a girl was talking to him.
“You’re not from around here are you?” Charlie said.
“Naa, I’m from Australia. And I have no friggin idea why I’m here.” Tom said, chuckling slightly.
“That makes the both of us.” Charlie said, getting up and lowering her hand to help Tom up, “Lets go get some food, I’m fuckin starving!”
“Sure.” Tom said, getting up and walking with Charlie. They made small talk until they got to the great hall where Tom stopped, looking around.
“Yeah, the first time does that to ya. Come on!” Charlie said, taking his hand and dragging him to a table. Since it was late afternoon, there weren’t many people there, but the people that were there, stared at him with interest. Charlie led Tom to one of the long tables and they started eating. Tom was amazed at how easily they could talk to each other. Charlie talked about the teachers and the school while. Tom learned that she was his age, she was in something called Hufflepuff and she was an orphan. Almost everyone had left the great hall by the time they were done talking. Charlie got up and waited for Tom to get up before she started talking.
“So, where do you want to go?”
“Somewhere quiet.” Tom said, wanting to clear his head.
“I know the perfect place.” Charlie said, leading Tom to the Room of Requirement.
Back in the common room
“All considering he just found out his father is alive.” Alli said nonchalantly.
“I-What? You guys heard us?” Hermione asked, her face going pale.
“It was sortof hard not to, the way you two were shouting.” Alli said.
“Shit, this was not the way I wanted to tell him!” Hermione said, sitting down on the couch and putting her face into her hands, “Why is everything going so wrong?! I should never of come back!”
“Don’t say that. Look, he’s still in Hogwarts, he’s just walking around. Let him cool off for a while then you can go find him.” Harry said, looking at his map.
“Well what am I supposed to do till then? Wait around and do nothing?” Hermione asked.
“Well… you could go see Ron with me.” Harry said, hesitantly. “I just mean, well since Tom knows about his dad, he’ll probably want to meet him, but that’ll be a problem because you won’t talk to him.”
Hermione sat quietly thinking everything over for about five minutes before she sighed, got up and said “Ok, let’s go.”
“Are you sure mom?” Alli asked.
“Well, I’m going to have to do it sometime.” Hermione said, “Hold on a sec while I get changed.”
Hermione walked into the bedroom to find Nate laying on her bed, reading a book. As Hermione entered, he looked up and smiled.
“I’m going to see Ron.” Hermione said, before going through her clothing and putting on a pair of jeans and an orange tank top and a black sweater over it.
“Are you sure?” Nate asked, as he got up out of bed.
”Yeah, Tom just found out he’s alive and he walked out. So I figure, I need to see Ron in case Tom wants to see him.” Hermione said while putting her hair up and washing her face.
“…Ok. Do you want me to come with you?” Nate asked.
“No thanks, can you just stay here with Alli and make sure Tom gets back safely? I’m not sure how long he’ll be gone.” Hermione said, kissing Nate quickly and walking out into the living room.
“I’ve alerted Ginny that we’re coming. We’re going to floo there and apparating to Ron’s.” Harry said, stoking the fire.
“Okay.” Hermione said, taking deep breaths to calm her nerves.
“Yeah. Let’s go.” Hermione said, walking into the fire. “Grimmauld Place.”
Hermione landed into Harry’s living room and stepped out of the fire. A couple of seconds later, Harry appeared also.
“Hey Ginny, do they know we’re coming?” Harry asked his wife, who was sitting on the couch reading.
“Yeah, I sent a letter ahead.” Ginny said, getting up and hugging Hermione.
“They?” Hermione asked, confused. Was Ron married?
“Oh, he lives in the flat above Fred and Georges shop.” Harry said, smiling at Hermione, “You ready?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” Hermione said, before holding Harry’s hand and apparating to Fred and Georges shop.
“Hermione! How are you? We heard about what happened” George said as soon as they appeared.
“I’m good. The kids are fine.” Hermione said, smiling.
“Does Ron know we’re coming?” Harry asked.
“Yeah he’s upstairs.” George said, glancing at Hermione.
“Do you want me to come up with you?” Harry asked Hermione.
“No. I have to do this alone.” Hermione said. Her heart was beating a million miles an hour and it felt like her stomach was about to drop to the ground. Hermione slowly walked up the stairs and opened the door with a shaky hand. Hermione stepped inside and was met by a hallway. “hello?” she said, looking around. Down the hallway to the right were three closed doors, in front of her was the kitchen, and to the left was the living room. Hermione slowly walked to the living room and called out again. The living room was bright with the sunshine that came through the windows, there was two pale leather couches and a nice fireplace in one corner. In the other corner was a grand piano. Hermione walked to the piano and looked at the awards around it, she remembered Ron liked to play, but he wasn’t that good. Most of the awards were for first and second place.
“Hermione?” Someone said from behind her. Hermione jumped and turned around and saw Ron standing in the doorway.
“oh…Ron… Hi.” Hermione said, getting uncomfortable. She started spinning her engagement ring around her finger.
“Hi.” Ron said, staring rather intensely at Hermione, which made her more uncomfortable, “It’s nice to see you it’s been a while.”
“Yeah…I sort of saw you at Ginny’s at the party…” Hermione said, frowning slightly.
“I’m sorry you had to see that, that’s not the man I am.” Ron said, looking away ashamedly.
“Um… nice place you got here.” Hermione said, trying to change the subject.
“Yeah… do you want a cup of tea?” Ron asked.
“Sure.” Hermione said, following Ron into the kitchen. They stood in silence as Ron made them both a cup of tea. It gave Hermione time to get a good look at Ron. He had grown; he was about 5’9 now. His red hair hadn’t changed that much, it was just a little shorter. He was wearing a black sweater and blue jeans it looked great on him and it showed off his muscles he wasn’t as good looking as Nate and Draco, but he certainly was handsome.
“I heard you were living in Australia. That must be nice; you always wanted to go there.” Ron said, passing her a cup of tea.
“Yeah, it’s really nice. The town I live in is just 15 minutes away from Sydney.” Hermione said, smiling down at her tea, “So I can see Nate every day.”
“Is Nate your fiancé?” Ron asked quietly.
“Yeah. His name is Nate Rider. He’s a good man, I think that you’d like him.” Hermione said.
“Well if he’s good to you he must be a good man.” Ron said with a slight twinge of jealousy in his voice.
Hermione drew in a deep breath and looked Ron straight in his eyes, “What happened the night of the attack? One minute you were there, protecting me, the next it was over and you were no where to be seen!”
“… we might want to go into the living room to talk.” Ron said, leading Hermione into the living room where they sat down. “Okay… the night I went missing…
The battle had been going on for over an hour. It started while Ron and Hermione were walking home to their new house. Deatheaters had shown up, ambushing them. Backup soon came for them, and they were all fighting a different Deatheater. Ron was fighting a nameless Deatheater, he quickly killed him and ran looking for Hermione, who he had last seen her fighting with Crabbe. He ran up the little cottage road, looking in all directions for her. He found her sitting against a tree trunk, cradling her arm. Ron quickly ran over to her.
“Are you alright?” He asked, pushing her hair out of her face.
“Yeah I’m fine. I think that my wand arm is broken.” Hermione said, trying to smile.
“Okay, we got to get you out of here.” Ron said, hoisting Hermione up.
“No, I’m fine, go back and fight.” Hermione said.
“I can’t fight if I know you’re hurt and unprotected.” Ron said, kissing Hermione.
“Ohh, that’s soo sweet. Two little love birds.” A voice said from behind them. Ron and Hermione turned around to see Lucius Malfoy.
“Hermione, get behind me.” Ron said, quietly, pushing Hermione behind him.
“Ron…don’t” Hermione said with tears coming to her eyes.
“Come on then Malfoy.” Ron said, putting his wand to the ready. Hermione watched in horror as Ron and Malfoy battled against each other, spells were flying out of their mouths that it was practically incomprehensible. Suddenly a purple spell came out of Malfoy’s wand and a red spell came out of Ron’s, the spells hit each other in mid air and suddenly both Ron and Malfoy disappeared, leaving Hermione all alone.
Ron and Malfoy kept on fighting as they travelled ot the unknown. When they landed, the impact made Ron fall over. The next thing he knew, Malfoy was standing over him laughing with his wand pointed at Ron’s throat.
“What are you going to do now Weasley? Your precious fiancé is probably dead by now and you’re left with me.” Malfoy said, smirking down at Ron.
“I’m going to kill you.” Ron said, quickly saying a nonverbal spell to knock Malfoy back, it gave Ron enough time to get up and get his wand. The battle between them lasted days, in the end, Ron won by fluke. Malfoy accidently fell over while Ron was saying the killing curse, which he had used countless times in the past couple of days.
End of Flashback.
“What happened next? If you killed him after a couple of days, how come you were missing for over three months?” Hermione asked, tears streaming down her face.
“After I defeated him, I walked for hours and hours aimlessly. I didn’t have a clue where I was. Everything was black. It was some sort of cave. After a day of walking, I finally found a way outside. I was bleeding pretty heavily with one of the curses Malfoy used on me, but I remembered the blood replenishing charm you taught me, so I stayed alive. After I got outside, it was only a matter of hours before I found a small town. It wasn’t a big town, and they didn’t know English but after a while I found out I was in Romania. There was an old magic man living there, byt the time I found him I was really weak. I fell into a coma for two weeks, after I woke up, the man helped me get my strength up again. Since he didn’t have a wand it took him a really long time. I got back to England two months later and it turned out I had been gone a year!”
“So.. umm…” Hermione said sniffing and wiping the tears away, “that’s it…”
“Yup…” Ron said, looking around, “Look, now you know and it’s all in the past now, so can we put it behind us and start again? I know that we can never be what we were but we can be friends right?”
“Yeah… okay yeah.” Hermione said getting up, “look I gotta go. Maybe we can meet up later.”
“Yeah, okay.Bye Hermione.” Ron said, walking her to the door.
Hermione slowly walked downstairs and met up with Harry, she said good bye to George and they went back to Hogwarts. When they got there, Tom still wasn’t back. Harry left and Hermione walked into her room of requirement. She closed the door and thought for a couple of minutes. She then tapped the wall and watched as the room changed. It turned into a bright room with padded walls and a bed, Hermione walked over to the bed and cried. The day had emotionally drained her and she fell asleep.
There, the next chapter. I'm not sure if it's any good because I had to write it in a rush because the validation queue is closing tomorrow. Who can't wait for the next book?? MEEE!!! It's comming out in 5 days now and I can't wait!! I'm going to wait outside the bookstore on friday night and I'm going to get the book at midnight (I'm clearly not one of the smart ones that preordered it :P
PS. So, the validators said that something was wrong with this so they rejected it. It's now July 27th and I've had the book since It came out. I thought it was really good, the ending was a little to fan fic for me (notice that I'm not spoiling anything?) It took be 18 hours to read it, and thats including the 2 hours sleep I got that night. I just holed myself in my room and read. I didn't leave the room for anything. No food, no toilet and no family :P haha But I don't think they minded the last part haha :P
I hope you all loved the book as much as me!! =]
