Chapter 14: It Ends Tonight.

Albus, Remus, and Severus were all sitting around Harry's bed the next day. Harry had tried asking Dumbledore politely to perform the spell, but to no avail. Severus insisted that they wait until Harry got better. So they sat around the bed and explained about the spell.

"The spell that Voldemort has been using to get inside your mind is called Effrego mens. He is using this spell, well more of a curse actually, to break your mind and try to get into it. And under that pressure your scar burst. Now as I have told you, your scar is your connection to Voldemort, and we are going to try to break that connection. The only way to do that is to have Severus or I perform Legilimence on you and view your mind to see where the connection and how deep it is. We, that is to say, Remus and I will perform the counter curse Effrego Iunctio to break the connection. Do you understand?" Dumbledore asked Harry, who nodded, finally happy that there may be some way to destroy the connection between Voldemort and himself.

The door to the hospital wing suddenly burst open, and in came Hermione, Fred, George, Ginny, Mrs. Weasley, Mr. Weasley, and a reluctant Ron. Harry avoided eye contact completely with the last mentioned person and focused all attention on his girlfriend, who leapt onto him and gave him a big hug. Harry hugged her back, and realized that she was sobbing.

"Hermione, it's all right; I'm fine. No harm done. I've been through worse and you can't deny it." He said while rubbing her back in circles. "There might even be a way for the connection between me and Voldemort to be broken." He said, hoping that she would cease the hugging, lest he suffer Death from Hug. Hermione pulled back, and wiped her eyes.

"I know but you scared me to death, I couldn't think of anything other than you on the floor writhing in pain, and your scar bursting open! Do you know what caused that?" She asked; Harry nodded. Ron chose this moment to speak.

"Harry, I wanted to let you know that I'm sorry for punching you in the eye, and bruising it. And I'm also sorry for being a prat for the past few weeks. I don't expect you to forgive me, but I just figured I would let you know that I really am sorry." He said shuffling from one foot to the other. Harry looked at him, trying to decide if he wanted to forgive Ron or not.

He sighed, "Will you give me some time to think on it?" He asked. Ron nodded stiffly. Hermione, once again, thrusted herself into Harry's arms, crying. Harry was utterly perplexed. He shook his head, "Girls." He muttered under his breath. Unfortunately Hermione heard him, and smacked him on the arm. "That was rude." Harry said, and smiled sheepishly as Hermione gave him a You-Are-In-Trouble-Mister look.

"Boys." She said, and the Professors and Weasley's chuckled at the little argument.

Madame Pomfrey came out of her office. "When will I be able to leave this place? If I don't leave soon, I'll start mistaking it for my bedroom," Harry said.

"You heard your father yesterday; when he tells you that you can leave, then you can leave. Not before, now drink up this Dreamless Sleep Potion, you still need to recover." Madame Pomfrey said sternly.

Harry made a protesting noise, and grudgingly drank the potion. Within five minutes, he was asleep.

"So what is this curse that will break the connection between Voldemort, and Harry?" Hermione asked. The others, minus Severus and Remus, looked at Dumbledore.

"Voldemort has been trying to break into Harry's mind with the curse Effrego Mens. But thanks to Professor Snape, who has resumed teaching Harry Occlumency, he hasn't been able to get in, and the pressure that it is putting on Harry's scar has made it burts open, and bleed. The spell I am talking about which will most likely break the connection between Harry, and Voldemort is quite simple. Severus, or myself will have to go into Harry's mind and see where the connection is, and how bad it is. We will then perform the counter curse, Effrego Iunctio, and that will hopefully close, and break the connection, forever ridding Harry of Voldemort trying to get into his head." Dumbledore explained. Hermione, nodded in understanding.

"Of course! I remember reading something about that in my fourth year. I also read that it's an exceptionally powerful spell, and that it needs to have four of Harry’s best friends to be successful,” She said.

"I don't find it surprising that you have heard about it Miss Granger, with intelligence like yours." Dumbledore said, Hermione blushed.

"When will we be able to perform this spell?" Mrs. Weasley asked.

"When I say he is well enough to leave the Hospital Wing." Severus said. Hermione giggled. "May I ask what is so funny?" He asked her.

"Nothing, it's just that you sound like a father when you say that." Hermione said. Everyone chuckled at this while Severus rolled his eyes.

"I thought I would never live to see the day that Severus Snape would be a father." Dumbledore chuckled, his eyes twinkling again. He checked his pocket watch, the one with the moons. "Does anyone want to go down to dinner?" He asked, everyone nodded, got up, and headed out of the Hospital Wing. Everyone, except Severus. "Severus, lets go he will be fine I'm sure."

Severus shook his head. "I'll eat in here, I don't want to leave him." He said.

"Make sure you do eat; it won't do anyone any good if you starve yourself from worrying too much," Dumbledore said, and he left.

The next day found Harry sitting up in bed with his arms folded across his chest, glaring at his father. "I still don't see why I can't leave today; I feel fine, and I want to do that spell. Do you think there's a way for us to rid you of the Dark Mark?" He asked.

"About the Dark Mark, the Dark Lord has made it more permanent than the portrait of Mrs. Black.   You may feel fine, but Harry you have very serious internal injuries. Your right lung had some sort of puncture wound in it. I'm guessing it's from the Dursley's, namely your uncle?  ." Severus said.

"Could be, it could be from Quidditch or from facing Voldemort several times. Who knows? I sure as hell don't. Pardon my language." He said hastily seeing the look on his father's face.

"Well, you have to stay here, at least until tomorrow." Harry sighed.

"Fine, but don't think I'll just stay here and take it lying down." Harry said. Severus rolled his eyes.

"I wouldn't have it any other way. Now since school is starting in less than two weeks, we need to talk about your study habits."
