~~~"Excuse me? He what?"~~~"He proposed to me! Sort of..." Aisley said, embarrassed.
"Define 'sort of'." Sirius began, but Rebecca hit him. He shut up fairly quickly.
"Get out of here, Sirius!" Rebecca told her brother, pointing her finger at the door.
"What? Why?" he asked.
"Because this is a girl thing, that's why!" Rebecca said, as if she were stating the obvious. "Now go."
"Fine." Sirius said, outwardly pretending to be huffy. In his mind, however, he added something else to his words, something for only Rebecca to hear. "You better not be thinking about closing your mind, sis." Rebecca didn't even bother to look at him, but her heard her voice in his mind anyways.
"Don't worry, I won't. Now get out of here, and in exactly two minutes, you'll be able to hear every word that Aisley says. I promise." Rebecca told her brother wordlessly. Sirius got up, and without another word, he left the room. Aisley started to speak, but Rebecca held up a hand. When she was sure that Sirius was no longer nearby, she cast an Imperturbable Charm on the room....not that it would stop Sirius from being able to hear them. It would, however, keep anyone else who decided to stop by from learning anything. When the spell started to take it's effect, Rebecca gave a small sigh, then started to relax her mind.
When Sirius and Rebecca had turned twelve, they had discovered something remarkable; when they chose to, they could hear each other speaking in their minds, but even more remarkably, they could, by simply relaxing, listen to conversations through each other. It had turned out to be quite helpful with pranks; each twin could be in a completely different part of Hogwarts Castle, but without making a sound, they could tell each other if Filch was coming, if the prank's target was about to interrupt preparations, or if it was time to move onto the next step of planning. The twins used it to their advantage when they wanted to know things that their family would rather have kept in the dark.
"Okay." Rebecca said finally. "First off, Sirius has a total crush on you, which is one reason I made him leave. The other reason is because you're totally in love with Cameron, and while Sirius will get over you soon enough, it would help if he didn't feel like he was competing with Cam any more than he already is."
Aisley looked at her strangely. "How do you know that? It's just spooky!"
"I have my ways..." Rebecca said, trailing off mysteriously. When Aisley just continued to sit there looking dumbfounded, she gave her a bland look that clearly said 'Get on with it already.'
"Oh, all right." Aisely said, sighing. "I'll tell you."
"Good. I didn't doubt that you would." Rebecca said. "Hey Sirius. You're going to want to hear this." Rebecca could see Sirius smile at her from his room.
"Don't worry, sis. You don't have to tell me twice!""So..." Aisley began. "Your brother stumbled into the kitchen this morning wearing only a sock and his knickers, groaning for coffee. I gave him some and told him to get dressed. When he came back, I told him his breakfast was ready."
"Oh, Merlin. Is it ALL going to be this boring?" Sirius whined to his sister.
"Shut UP, Sir. If I have to keep telling you off, I'll have no idea what's going on. So no comments from the peanut gallery, okay?" Rebecca said in her mind."You made him breakfast?" she asked Aisley incredulously.
"Well, yes." Aisley said. Rebecca looked at her. "What?" she asked. "I like to cook." Rebecca sighed.
"Sorry. Continue, please." Rebecca apologized.
"Anyways. He ate, then he was all 'You made me coffee. And breakfast. And coffee. Marry me.' as a joke, I guess. I said no. At that point, Cam got angry and started rattling off all these reason why we should get married- something about liking the same Quidditch teams and having fun. I told him that there was more to marriage than just having fun and liking the same things, which he didn't seem to understand. So then I told him that he had forgotten to mention love, at which point he said he was incapable of loving anyone." Aisley said, getting angry just thinking about it.
Rebecca frowned and rolled her eyes. Boys were so stupid. "I see why you're upset." she said.
"Oh, that's not all. After admitting that he doesn't love me, Cam still didn't get it. I believe his words were "I'm incapable of being in love with anyone, but I like you and respect you. Right. Like that's a reason to get married, even if it was a joke."
"You are totally right." Rebecca said quietly. "So we're going to do something about it."
"Wait...we?" Aisley asked.
"Yep. You, me, and Sirius." Rebecca replied. "Sirius, get your arse down here!"
"I'm coming!" Sirius said."Oi!" Rebecca shouted, just for form. "Sirius!"
"Yeah?" Sirius said, popping in the doorway. "What?"
"It's time to plot." Rebeca and Sirius both turned to look at Aisley, who was slowly backing up into a corner.
"What do you think, Sirius?" Rebecca asked. Sirius scrutinized Aisley closely, then grinned.
"Lily." the twins said in agreement.
"And don't forget James." Sirius added.
"Why?" Aisley asked, curious in spite of the fact that she had a bad feeling that the two demonic Potter twins were going to put her through rings of fire.
"Because James'll give us an honest, completely unbiased, guy's opinion of you." Rebecca said matter-of factly.
"Okay. Sirius, you go find them while Aisley and I set up."
When Sirius burst into his twin's room half an hour later, Lily and James with him, he wasn't surprised to see it transformed into a girly-girl's makeover paradise.
"Mind telling me why you two dragged us over here?" Lily asked lazily.
"Sure." Sirius said happily. "We need you to give Aisley a makeover."
"Cam's beign stupid." Rebecca added. "Hopefully, this will make him realize it."
"And I'm here because?" James asked, his blue eyes twinkling.
"You're here to give us your opinion when we get done." the twins chorused.
"Okay, boys, get out unless you want a makeover, too." Lily said, smiling now. 'So...' she thought. 'We're teaching Cam a lesson. Interesting.'
With identical looks of horror, both boys ran out of the room.
"Now." Lily said, tapping her foot.. "Aisley, let me look at you." With a feeling of dread, Aisley spun in a circle. When she was done looking, Lily smiled again.
"Give me a pair of scissors." she said suddenly.
"What? Why?" Aisley asked, looking terrified.
"To cut your hair, silly." Lily replied.
"Sit down, Aisley." Rebecca said suddenly. Aisley sat.
Fifteen minutes later, Aisley's waist-length hair had been cut to fall just below her ears. To her surprise, it suited her much better.
"Thank you, Lily, Rebecca!" she said, hugging them both.
"Oh, I'm not done yet." Lily said with a smile. Within a minute, Aisley's hair was not only much shorter, but it was back to its' natural color- a deep, rich brown.
"Hey guys!" Rebecca screamed. "Get in here!" Sirius and James both Apparated with a 'pop!'.
"Well?" Aisley said, smiling shyly. "What do you think?" As an answer, Sirius said "Would you like to go out to dinner with me tonight?" Aisley laughed, along with the other Potters, when James elbowed him in the stomach.
"She can't go with you." he said, laughing quietly. To Aisley's surprise, he grabbed her and kissed the living daylights out of her. As Sirius just stood there and scowled, Lily and Rebecca burst into cat calls and wolf whistles. When James finally let her go, Aisley was just a little bit dizzy. "She's going with me, aren't you, honey?" James finished, much to the amusement of everyone but Sirius.
"Um...yeah." Aisley said, blushing and looking like she had just been hit by the Confundus Charm.
"Well....at least we know that Cam's gonna flip." Rebecca said dryly.
"I'll pick you up at seven." James said, smiling. "Wear something pretty."
"Uh huh." Aisley replied, dazed.
"Hello?" Sirius said, waving a hand in front of her face. "Earth to Aisley!"
"Huh?" she asked. "I was just thinking...maybe living here won't be so bad." Aisley grinned at the twins.
"This is going to work even better than I expected." Rebecca responded, trying not to laugh.
"Rebecca, will you help me pick out something to wear?" Aisley asked, but Rebecca shook her head.
"I'm better with clothes than she is." Sirius said, grinning. "I'll help you."
"Gee, little brother, you're so modest." Rebecca drawled.
"Two lousy minutes..." Sirius began.
"Still make me older. Now go help Aisley find something to wear." Rebecca finished.
"Yes, Mother." Sirius answered with a long-suffering sigh.
A/N: Yeah, so, crazy, I know. I can't help it. But if you want the later chapters to be less crazy, you have to review and tell me what you think! So review already! Thanks...
