I couldn’t sleep because of what Hermione told me. I decided to go for a walk and as I was walking I saw Harry and her and decided to listen in. I hid behind the bush.
I rolled my eyes at what I heard. I was not the father. “Would I lie?” she asked. “No.” Harry said. “Think about it, Harry. 7 weeks after me and Draco… you know… I left! Does it make sense to you?” Hermione said. I saw him at stare at the ground and nodded. “It does. But Mione, imagine how hurt he is. You left him. The man who loves you. Then you come back with a little girl. No one knows what happened while you were gone.” I heard him say. “But that's just it. People do know Harry. Albus, Minerva, and Ginny know. I went to Madame Pomfrey to find out who the father was, and it was Draco! Elena looks exactly like him so she truly is his daughter! I love Draco so much, but why won’t he just believe me?” I heard her shout. I watched her cry and Harry tried to comfort her.
I went back upstairs and I passed Hermione’s room on the way. As I walked by, I heard a little girl crying. I walked into the room and saw Elena sitting up. “What’s wrong?” I asked. “Where’s my mummy?” she asked. “I dunno.” I told her. “Why don’t you go to sleep?”
“I can’t. I had a nightmare and I can’t go back to sleep.” she said. “Well when I was little, your grandmum- uh, I mean my Mum, used to sleep next to me and sing a lullaby.” I said. When did I start referring to Mum as Elena’s grandmum? She’s not even my child! But she does look like me… wait, no. She’s not yours! “Can you stay with me?” Elena asked sniffing.
“Of course.” I said. Wait, what?! Too late now. Maybe Hermione should've stayed in America.
I laid down next to the little girl and rubbed her back. She cuddled up to me and fell asleep and I soon fell asleep.
After my talk with Harry, we both went to bed. When I walked into my room, I gasped at the sight before me. There was Draco laying next to Elena. I went to check Elena and my eyes wandered to Draco. He changed so much since he was 17. I kissed Elena on the forehead and took a moment to look at Draco again. I moved his hair from his forehead and kissed his forehead. I grabbed a blanket and cuddled up on the chair. I fell asleep watching my daughter and her father.
