Amaya was peacefully sleeping in her room, listening to her ipod. Draco was in the living room studying for the potions test they had in the morning. He was extremely exhausted, for it was after two in the morning, but he couldn't remember how to make one of the potions. He read the recipe over and over again, but he couldn't seem to get it down.
Suddenly, the flames started dancing, sparks whirled around in frenzy, the lights went out and all that was left was an eerie, green glow from the fire. Within seconds, the fire turned back to normal and Voldemort was standing right in front of Draco. He bowed instantly as he realized who it was.
"My Lord," Draco said nervously.
"Hello, Draco," Voldemort's voice was hoarse and he seemed annoyed.
"This is certainly a surprise, My Lord."
"I have a job for you. If you complete it, you will finally receive your Dark Mark. If you fail me, you will be killed. Is that understood?"
"Yes, My Lord. It is understood."
"Stand up boy." Draco obeys, stumbling to his feet.
"What job shall I complete for you?"
"I need you to protect something for me. Don't ever let it out of your sight. Never leave it by itself, or in the open. If found by the wrong person, and it is destroyed, I will hold you personally responsible, and destroy you the same way! Got it?"
"Yes, Master."
"Take this and don't loose it." Voldemort pulls out a silver locket and hands it to Draco.
"You want me to protect a locket?" Draco asked sarcastically. Voldemort took his slender hand and cupped it around Draco's throat, squeezing tightly.
"Listen to me boy. This is the sixth horcrux. If it is destroyed, Potter will only have to find and destroy one more to kill me." He tosses Draco to the floor like a rag doll. He puts a slimy, hard foot on Draco's chest and looks down at him with piercing eyes. "Don't disappoint me Draco or it'll be your life that gets taken from you."
"Yes, Master." Supposedly satisfied with that answer, Voldemort disappears in the blink of an eye. Draco gets up and rushes to Amaya's room checking to make sure she was still asleep. Draco peeks into her room. She's sleeping just as peaceful as she was when he last checked on her a couple of hours ago. He walks in and kisses her forehead gently. Then he walks out and puts up his stuff. He was done studying for the night. It was time to hit the hay.
"Draco, this is so pretty! Can I wear it, please!?" Amaya asked the next morning at breakfast when he tried to sneak it into his pocket.
"Maya....."
"Please Draco! I won't loose it. I promise. I'll wear it the whole time!" Her eyes were pleading. He wasn't going to give in it seemed, until she did the puppy face. Draco hated the puppy face. It was so innocent and pitiful. Yet she did it so well! How could she have this power over him! She's the only one who could give it to him and he does what she wished. How did she do it!!!?
"Alright, you can wear it."
"YAY!!!!" She turned her back to him and lifted her long hair. He fascines it together and turned her back around. She dropped her hair and kissed his cheek. "Thanks Draco."
"No prob."
"Kitty...you and David need to keep it PG for the younger years, or go get a room," Amaya commented. Kitty and David were having a snog fest and it was getting to be naughty. VERY naughty.
"Maya! Why do you have to be such a party pooper?" Kitty whined.
"Because I'm Head Girl. I have to do my job...even if it's my best friend."
"Oh, alright." Kitty and David stopped, but David snuck a smexiful wink to Kitty who smiled. Something was going to happen.
Amaya turned back to Draco. "This necklace is gorgeous! Where ever did you get it?"
"Ummm.....It's my mother's. She wanted me to keep it safe. “Amaya gave him a curious look.”You see Maya, there have been burglaries around our house and she didn't want her favorite necklace to be stolen."
"Oh...okay. That's all you needed to say in the first place."
"Well I'm sorry your majesty!"
"What's your problem?"
"Problem? Me have a problem? I don't think so. It's YOU with the fuckin problem!"
"Draco why are you being like this!?"
"Being like how!? ANGRY? MAD? UPSET?"
"Draco calm down."
"DON'T TELL ME TO FUCKING CALM DOWN!!!!!! I WILL CALM DOWN WHEN EVER I WISH!!!!!!!!!!" Amaya rushes out of the room, crying. Why was he being like this? What did she do?
Brian runs after her. He catches up to her down by the lake. He grabs her arm and pulls her to him and into a hug. "What's wrong Maya? I hate seeing you mad."
"Draco's the problem. He's nice one minute, then the next he's all bitchy and pissed. I hate it! It's not fair!"
"What's not fair?"
"The way he's treating me! He's nice, and then he's bitchy. Like I just told you!"
"It's okay Maya. But, why do you care so much about the git?"
"I don't know. I just do. We've become close, yet we're still distant. I can't explain it." Brian kisses her forehead and rubs her back.
"Don't worry about it okay? Everything's going to be fine."
"I guess you're right. Maybe I over reacted about the whole thing."
"I don't think you did. But hey. Everyone does that every now and again here."
"It's my first year so I wouldn't know."
"Let's go back up and finish breakfast, shall we?"
"Thanks but you go on by yourself. I'm going to stay down here a while."
"What about classes?"
"I'm skipping today."
"Okay...See ya around Maya."
"Bye Brian." Brian goes back to the castle and Amaya sits down, leaning against the tree by the lake. She was going to skip. Something she's never done before. This was going to be fun.
