Too Little, Too Late

Come with me
Stay the night
You say the words but boy it don't feel right
What do ya expect me to say (You know it's just too little too late)

Olivia Connor felt Sirius' hands travel down to her jeans as she was pressed up against the wall.

"Sirius," she said, taking a deep breath to say the hardest thing she had ever said, but which would make him happy. "Stay."

Sirius looked up from her neck and grinned. "I love you, Olivia..." he muttered, and kissed her lightly.

A cold chill went down her spine at his words. They were exactly the words she had wanted to hear him say to her - but still she didn't feel right. It was just three words. Three words of nonsense. And what did Sirius expect her to say back in response? 'I love you too'? She couldn't do that, she didn't love him.

Not anymore.
You take my hand
And you say you've changed
But boy you know your begging don't fool me
Because to you it's just a game (You know it's just too little too late)

Olivia stood very still, letting Sirius kiss her neck as he slowly unbuttoned her jeans, and slowly slipping them down. At the moment when he picked her up and twirled her around, Olivia giggled softly, not knowing how she could ever let go of him. It was impossible, yet she didn't like the idea of even keeping him close.

"I can't!" she blurted out, as Sirius put her down again, his lips inches away from hers. "I'm sorry Sirius, it's just... I can't."

"What?" Sirius said, frowning slightly. "But I love you!"

"It's not that, I just..." Olivia said, looking away in shame.

"Is it because of what happened at the graduation ball?" Sirius said slowly, the frown disappearing. "With Jenna?"

"No," Olivia said, looking at her nails.

But in all honesty, it was because of what had happened at the graduation ball - with Jenna. Olivia had walked in on Sirius and Jenna, snogging in the broom closet. And for a second, Olivia had thought that Sirius was different, that he had truly changed, and that he loved her. But she was proved wrong, by none other than Severus Snape, who had hinted about the little thing that turned Olivia's little world upside down.

Olivia ran her hands through her blonde hair, almost praying that Sirius wouldn't look at her like he did. She sat down on the bed, her eyes slowly searching Sirius' grey ones. "I'm sorry," she whispered.

"Hey," Sirius said softly, kneeling in front of her. "I've changed."

It was like he had read her thoughts and realized what was wrong with her. The way he held her hands, telling her that he had changed; it was like pleading - begging for her to forgive and forget. Olivia could forgive, she already had, but she could never forget.

"Sirius, don't lie to me," she said, her voice shaking. "You haven't changed, you never will! Sirius, this is you, the real you."

"Olivia..." Sirius said, touching her cheek, but Olivia pulled away form his reach.

So let me on down
'Cause time has made me strong
I'm starting to move on
I'm gonna say this now
Your chance has come and gone
And you know...

"You had your chance, and you ruined it!" Olivia said, her voice growing louder. "You ruined it with Jenna!"

"I didn't--"

"I've been trying to forget about it, but you know what? I can't! And I'm quite thankful for that, because time has made me stronger. Before I was afraid of getting hurt, bu now... no I'm not afraid anymore. I know how it feels and now I can move on."

"But I love you!" Sirius said.

"I have moved on with my life, there's nothing you can say or do, and you know it."

It's just too little too late
a little too wrong
And I can't wait
But you know all the right things to say (You know it's just too little too late)
You say you dream of my face
But you don't like me
You just like the chase
To be real
It doesn't matter anyway (You know it's just too little too late)

"I can't live without you!" Sirius said as Olivia walked to the door, ready to leave the life she had dreamt of before, behind her. "I dream of you every night, and it's killing me when I wake up and can't find you there in my arms. Your face haunts me in my dreams, Olivia!"

Olivia slowly turned around, smiling. He had always known what to say, how to say it and more important - when to say it. But it was all just too little too late.

"You say those words because you can't have me, and you know it," she said quietly. "You don't really like me."

"No, I--"

"It doesn't matter anymore..." she said and opened the door, walking out from the hotel room.

Yeah yeaaahhh... It's just too little too late... Mhmmm

Sirius watched her disappear, and quickly followed when he snapped out from his trance. He saw just in time how Olivia's blonde hair disappeared around the corner.

"Olivia, wait!"

I was young
And in love
I gave you everything
But it wasn't enough
And now you wanna communicate (You know it's just too little too late)

He ran up to her, forcing her to look at him. His grey eyes were filled with frustration.

"I can fix this," he told her.

"No you can't," Olivia laughed sadly. "You can't fix everything, and especially not this!"

"Doesn't those years we had in Hogwarts mean anything?" he asked quietly.

"We were young. I was young! And so foolishly in love with you!" she said and pulled away from his grip.

"Maybe you didn't love me enough, if you're leaving me now," Sirius called after her.

Olivia froze in her steps. She had gave him everything; her love, heart, dream and hopes. And now he threw them all in her face, pulling up memories she had tried to forget long time ago.

"Don't you dare say that, Sirius," she said darkly, glancing at him. "Don't you ever dare say that I didn't love you enough!" Olivia screamed. "I loved you more than life itself! I gave you everything, but you didn't care! You thre them away, and messed it all up with Jenna!"

"You never said you loved me!" Sirius screamed back.

"Well, neither did you!" Olivia said. "You're pathetic, you know that? First you go and cheat, then you have the guts to tell me that you love me, and then you accuse me for not even loving you, while all along I was the only one who really did! And guess what's the worst thing? That you expect me to be okay with it all!"

Go find someone else
In letting you go
I'm loving myself
You got a problem
But don't come asking me for help
'Cause you know...

"Go find someone else to depend on! Don't expect me to be there for you when the world comes crashing down on you. Just... don't! Maybe a mirror," she spat before once again turning away to leave.

It's just too little too late
a little too wrong
And I can't wait
But you know all the right things to say (You know it's just too little too late)
You say you dream of my face
But you don't like me
You just like the chase
To be real
It doesn't matter anyway (You know it's just too little too late)

"Olivia, come back here!" Sirius called, but she didn't even look back. "Olivia!"

Sirius followed her, boiling anger growing inside of him. No one had ever said things like that to him, no one had ever turned him down, or... left him.

"You think you're something, don't you?" Sirius said loudly, as Olivia rushed down the stairs with him right behind. "It's not like every guy on the street falls for you, so you should consider yourself lucky that I even noticed you!"

"Oh yes!" Olivia called back. "I'm so grateful for breaking my heart, that's just what I have always wanted!"

"Look, I didn't mean that, okay? I'm sorry Olivia, please come up, okay?" Sirius said more gently as they ran across the lobby. "Honey, I didn't--"

"Don't you 'honey' me!" Olivia said coolly as she pushed the door open.

"Let's just talk this over somewhere else, okay?" Sirius tried as he followed her out to the street.

"No," Olivia said, twirling around to face him. "It's too late, Sirius!"

I can love with all of my heart, baby
I know I have so much to give (I have so much to give)
With a player like you I don't have a prayer
That's no way to live
Ohhhh... mmm nooo
It's just too little too late
Yeaahhhh...

"Sometimes it really is hard to believe that a person like you can even love," Sirius said sadly, shaking his head.

"A person like me?" Olivia asked in surprise. "A person like me!?"

"When I first met you, you were arrogant and too damn proud for your own good! You were so full of yourself that--"

"I was not!" Olivia gasped. "I just didn't want to get hurt by falling for you, which I eventually did! I can love - I did love, with all my heart! I loved you, I did, Sirius! I gave you so much, that you have no idea..." Olivia sniffled, quickly looking away to not show how much it hurt. "You're a player, Sirius, and you can't get around that."

It's just too little too late
a little too wrong
And I can't wait
But you know all the right things to say (You know it's just too little too late)
You say you dream of my face
But you don't like me
You just like the chase
To be real
It doesn't matter anyway (You know it's just too little too late)

Sirius stared at the girl in front of him, finally realizing something; he did love her, for real. He could feel a small pain in his heart, something he had never felt before. And he sure did hate that feeling.

"Go," he said, looking away.

"Huh?" Olivia said, frowning. Had he just told her to go? Was Sirius Black actually giving up a fight?

"Go!" he said, trying to smile. "I see when a fight is lost. And I'm sorry." Sirius said, finally looking into her eyes. "I'm sorry for hurting you, I really am."

Olivia couldn't help but smile, even if tears of her broken heart fell from her eyes. "I know..."

She gave him a quick hug, before letting go and kissing his cheek gently. "You're forgiven," and with that, she walked away.

Away from the chains that had kept her down.

Olivia had finally seen the real Sirius. All she wanted to hear was those words of regret, a true apology. Now she was free, free to fall in love again, even if a piece of her heart would always stay with Sirius.

You can never forget your first love. No matter how bad they hurt you, no matter how long you try to wait. It's an impossible task to do...

Yeah
You know it's just too little too late
Oh, I can't wait...
