Two weeks later, all the house prefects were announcing that everyone had to attend an assembly that morning. It was extremely loud in the Great Hall as everyone was wondering why they had this sudden assembly. When Dumbledore stood up, the whole Great Hall went quite.
“This year we are having a special event happening at Hogwarts. We will be hosting the Tri-Wizard Tournament.” As Dumbledore said this, everyone in there started whispering to each other. “The other two schools will be joining us momentarily.”
After about five minutes, the Great Hall’s door opened and the students from Durmstrang came in followed by Beaxbaton.
Not everyone there knew exactly what the Tri-Wizard Tournament was. There was a big buzz going around the Great Hall about it. Dumbledore started to tell them about the tournament. He also told them that they had to be at least sixteen to compete. Most of the students started to shout at the rule that Dumbledore announced. They weren’t happy with it.
Nadia didn’t really care about the tournament. Nothing matter to her these days because she had lost everyone that she liked being with. Ever since Cedric and her split, everything went downhill for Nadia. She had lost her best friend, Chelsea as she believes what her brother said and thought that Nadia was the cheater. All the Hufflepuff hated her for the same reason. The Ravenclaws never really liked her from the beginning. Gryffindors were nice to her at times but the rivalry between her and Hermione came in the way. And the Slytherins weren’t even worth talking about.

After three days, it was time to announce the champions from each school. Dumbledore walked over to the Goblet of Fire. He waited there for a few moments until a piece of paper shot out of it.
“The champion for Durmstrang is Viktor Krum.”
All the Durmstrang were cheering for him as he went into a room where the champions were to meet. Then another paper came out.
“The champion for Beaxbaton is Fleur Delacour.”
She also went into the room. Then the next paper shot out.
“And last but not the least, for Hogwarts, it is Cedric Diggory.”
The whole Hufflepuff table were on their feet, screaming Cedric’s name. Everyone from Hogwarts was celebrating for Cedric except Nadia. She just looked at him with a what-a-show-off look. Even the Slytherins were cheering for him.
All three of the champions made their way to a chamber beside the Great Hall. Dumbledore turned around to go into the chamber when suddenly the Goblet of Fire started to shake. It sounded like it was going to burst. Everyone went quiet in the Hall. Some people were starting to back away from the goblet. After a few more seconds of rattling and shaking, it stopped and shot a piece of paper out of it. Dumbledore caught it and read it to himself. His faced looked shocked. He looked up at everyone in the Great Hall.
“Nadia Hamilton,” he suddenly said.
She wasn’t paying much attention so she didn’t hear him. He called her again. Then she realized that some people were staring at her and whispering to each other. She looked up at Dumbledore and heard him calling her.
Why is everyone staring at me? I know that I didn’t do anything wrong. Even the teachers are looking at me and why is Professor Dumbledore calling me up there?
Nadia got up and went in front of Dumbledore. People were still making comments and staring at her. Dumbledore led her to the chamber where the other champions were. She didn’t know what was going on.
“Miss Hamilton, please explain yourself,” Dumbledore asked her.
“I don’t know anything about this.”
“How did your name get into the goblet?”
“I told you already, I don’t know.”
Everyone in the room was just standing quietly and staring at her. Cedric gave her an angry glare but she gave him the same glare back to him.
“Miss Hamilton, you do know that now you are a Tri-Wizard champion. This is very dangerous for someone as young as you. But there is nothing we can do about it. The Goblet of Fire had decided,” Barty Crouch Sr. told her with a very concerned look.

A lot of people were still in shock after hearing that Nadia was also a champion. She didn’t believe it herself either.
She was walking by the lake, thinking about what’s going to happen to her this year, when she heard a familiar voice from behind her.
“Nadia, we need to talk.” It was Cedric.
“What do you want?”
“How did your name end up in the goblet?”
“I don’t know.”
“Yes, you do. You know everything. You’re probably just trying to get revenge from me.”
“Shut up, Cedric. Why would I want revenge? You’re not the only guy in this school who thinks he’s hot and great. I don’t even like you anymore. So just stop bothering me.”
“Fine! But you’ll never get past the first task.”
“Oh yeah? We’ll just see about that.”
At that moment Cedric turned and walked away from her.
She just the strangest girl I’ve ever met. What’s her problem anyways? She thinks she’s great and enters this tournament. I bet she won’t even be able to complete a single task. She is so weird.
Nadia was still by the lake. She wanted to talk to someone about her feelings but no one would listen to her. So she decided to write a letter to her parents.
Dear Mom and Dad,
You are not going to believe what just happened to me. My name got entered for the Tri-Wizard Tournament and I got chosen as a champion. Professor Dumbledore has probably told you about it. Because of that, I’m having the worst time of my life. Everyone hates me here. What should I do? I feel so left out. Please write back to me very soon.
Your loving daughter,
Nadia
She quickly went to the owlery and sent the letter before her classes started.

That evening during dinner, Dumbledore announced that there would be a Halloween dance. Hogwarts had a Halloween dance every year but this year it was different as they also had people from Durmstrang and Beaxbaton.
Some people were already starting to get dates for the dance while some were just discussing what they would wear.
I know that I won’t have a date this year. Everybody already hates me. I might as well dance with a house elf or something. This dance is going to be so boring. Maybe I can pretend to be sick or something so that I won’t have to come. But no… I love dancing. I just can’t miss it.
As she was thinking about the dance, she heard Draco and Pansy talking. She always found their way of talking to each other, amusing.
“Draco, will you go to the dance with me?” Pansy asked.
“Uh… yeah… sure, whatever Pansy.” Malfoy said without paying much attention to what she had asked.
Nadia finished her dinner early and decided to walk around the school. As she was walking she heard some music coming from the room right next to her. She slightly opened the door to have a peek inside to see who was playing the music. There she saw a boy. He was facing the other way so she couldn’t tell who it was. She decided to quietly step inside. The boy hadn’t noticed that Nadia was in there, listening to his music. Nadia had to find out who was playing such a captivating music. But she didn’t want to disturb him. Finally the music stopped and the boy turned around.
“When did you get in here and who exactly are you?” the boy asked with a questionable yet friendly look. He was a tall boy with dark brown hair and dreamy brown eyes.
“Oh hi… I’m Nadia Hamilton. I came in here ‘cause I heard your music and thought that it was absolutely amazing,” Nadia smiled at him.
“Really? You mean… you actually liked my music?”
“I didn’t like it but I loved it.”
“Thanks! You’re the first one to ever like my music.”
“Seriously?”
“Yeah, well, it’s because I never play my music in front of people. I’m afraid that they wouldn’t like it or something.”
“Oh, I see. You know what; I feel the same way too about my songs. I love writing songs but I never sing them in front of anyone.”
“I guess we both have the same problem.”
“Yeah, I guess so.” Nadia chuckles a bit as she talked. “So anyways…uh…I’m sorry, I don’t know your name.”
“I’m Keith Parkinson… And before you say anything else, I just wanna say that I am not related to Pansy Parkinson even though I am a Slytherin too. So which house are you in?”
“I’m in Ravenclaw.”
“Really?” Keith looked a bit surprised.
They continued talking for a few hours. They were really getting along with each other. Then Nadia suddenly remembered about the Halloween dance.
“Hey Keith, do you have a date for the dance?” she asked.
“No, why?”
“I was wondering if you want to go with me.”
“Oh, well sure. That sounds great.”
Nadia was feeling really happy. She couldn’t believe that she had a date for the dance even though he was a Slytherin.
There was suddenly an excited look on Keith’s face. It looked like he was trying to say something but he couldn’t find the right words.
After a few minutes, Nadia looked at her watch then suddenly jumped up.
“Keith! It’s already 11:30. We’re not supposed to be here at this time. We have to be in our common rooms.”
Both of them quickly got all their stuff and quietly ran out to their own common rooms.
