James, Lily, April, Sirius and Peter all sat in the living room of the house in Godric’s Hollow.
“I have never eaten so much.” April moaned as she held her stomach. “I feel so fat.” Sirius looked at her playfully.
“You don’t look fat to me.” He said. April hit him playfully, causing the two to laugh.
“It’s good to see you two laughing together again” Lily said happily. Harry was fast asleep upstairs, the excitement of Halloween had been a bit too much for him.
“Well, we got past our differences.” Sirius said pulling April towards him. April laughed and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
“Well not all our differences.” April said, wiping the smile off her face, “I have a bone to pick with you about the state of your flat and I don’t want you riding that damned motorbike.” Lily rolled her eyes and cuddled closer to James. April started giggling again and started screaming as Sirius started to tickle her.
“Harry is asleep.” James hissed at them.
“Yeah April.” Sirius scolded April. April took a few deep breaths and stood up.
“I have some good news.” April said loudly, “I received the results of my final assessment today.” She said holding up her hands.
“And what did you get?” Lily asked eagerly
“Did you pass?” James asked. April frowned and took out a sealed letter from her pocket.
“I don’t know. I want Lily to open it for me.” She said handing it to Lily. Lily looked at her surprised.
“No, that’s not right.” Lily said.
“Please, Lily.” April said. “Open it for me.”
“I’ll do it!” Sirius said leaping for the letter. April waved it out of the way and gave him a harsh look.
“No, I want Lily to open it.” April said slightly annoyed. She turned to Lily and pouted. “Please!” Lily sighed and took the letter.
“So?” Peter asked as everyone watched Lily’s eyes moving across the page. Her face got more and more serious and April frowned. She folded up the letter and sighed.
“April, I’m so sorry.” She said seriously.
“I didn’t make it?” April asked.
“Well, you won’t be seeing much of us anymore.” Lily said, “your new desk is waiting for you to move in at the Auror head quarters, your immediate boss will be Moody and you will be taking the place of the late Mr. And Mrs. Potter.” Lily said seriously. April’s jaw dropped and she grinned.
“I’m an Auror?” She asked. Lily nodded. “I made it!” she screamed.
“Baby!” James said over her.
“Yes!” April lunged at James and Lily and hugged them both happily. She was so happy she went and hugged Peter and then gave Sirius a deep kiss. “Oh Merlin. I have to tell my sister. Oh crap.” April said excitedly. She took the letter back and disapparated from the house. Lily and the others laughed.
“Well I better get going as well” Sirius said, “I have a few errands to run before I turn in.”
“Ok, see you soon mate.” James said happily giving him a slight wave.
“I have to go as well.” Peter said. He had the biggest butterflies in his stomach, no not butterflies, bats!
“See you soon then.” Lily said happily. Both men disapparated and Lily leaned against James as he put his arm around her. There was a banging from upstairs and Lily and James both looked up at the ceiling.
“What was that?” Lily asked. James shrugged and got up to go upstairs. James went up to Harry’s room and found him crying. His cot had fallen over and James saw one of the legs of the cot had broken. James picked up the crying Harry and rocked him gently.
“It’s alright.” James said quietly. “You’re safe.” Harry still cried and James heard Lily coming up the stairs.
“Do you need help?” Lily asked James.
“I don’t know.” James said. “Come on, please stop crying.” Harry was still screaming when James came up with an idea. He put Harry on the large cushion.
“Stay right there.” James said smirking at Harry. Harry stopped crying for a few moments and watched as James turned into a large stag. Prongs had returned to greet his son. He had to keep his head down to stop his antlers hitting the light and lowered his head and nuzzled Harry. Harry stared wide eyed and with his mouth slightly open. Lily casually walked in and took a step back in surprise.
“Prongs!” Lily snapped. The stag looked up and gave what seemed to be a bit of a smile. “I really wish you’d tell me when you do that, Particularly in the house!” Prongs nodded and turned back to Harry and lay down on the floor. Harry got up slowly and went to the stag that was on the floor where his dad had been a few minutes before.
“Daddy?” Harry asked. He touched the Prongs’ smooth fur and gave a cry of delight and started stroking him. Lily gave a small laugh as Prongs licked Harry’s face.
“James.” Lily said. Prongs looked up. “I’m pregnant again.” Prongs immediately changed into James and Harry protested loudly. James was staring at Lily.
“You what?” He asked.
“I’m pregnant again.” She said nervously. James didn’t have time to respond as there was a loud bang downstairs and the sound of a door being smashed open came up the stairs. Lily and James both ran out of the room and down the stairs. A cloaked figure stood in the doorway laughing.
“Who are you?” James asked taking out his wand.
“Stupid boy. You’ve faced me enough times and yet you still don’t know who I am.” He snarled.
“Peter.” James whispered as he held his wand out shaking. “He betrayed us!” Voldemort let out an even louder laugh and got his wand out.
“James.” Lily said nervously,
“Lily, take Harry and go! It’s Him! Go! Run! I’ll hold him off-” James shouted at Lily. Lily stared wide eyed and ran up the stairs to get to Harry’s room.

April walked out into the packed Muggle street. She’d been told to patrol around London for her first day as an official auror. The morning was cloudy and it looked like it was going to rain heavily if the clouds got any heavier. April held her wand tightly in her pocket and pulled her scarf around her slightly tighter with the other. There was a screeching of car tires and two cars crashed into each other and April saw a lamp post shake threateningly.
“Not allowed to intervene.” April muttered to herself. She walked over anyway just to see what happened as one did when there was an accident of any kind. As she pushed her way through the crowd she heard an all to familiar voice.
“You have some nerve!” shouted Sirius. April stopped for a few seconds and pushed her way through out of the crowd and to a clear area with the only two people standing facing each other.
“Lily and James, Sirius! How could you!” Peter cried at Sirius.
“How could I what?” Sirius demanded. He took a step closer. Peter saw April staring at them, he looked at her alarmed and pointed at Sirius
“It was him!” He screamed before he got his wand out. Sirius was quicker. He had his wand out and there was an explosion at the end of the street. April was knocked off her feet by the force of the explosion, most people were. April looked at where Peter had been standing. There were thirteen Muggles lying dead around him and Peter was gone. April stared in horror. She heard a deep laughing start quietly and get louder. April looked at Sirius. He was laughing loudly like he found the whole thing quite funny. Almost immediately he was surrounded by members of the Magic Law enforcement team. April stared as her beloved Sirius was dragged off. Sirius caught her eye as he was dragged off and stopped laughing.
April stared in disbelief, Sirius had just killed Peter.
Why? What had Peter said? “Lily and James, Sirius! How could you!” A man standing next to her helped her up.
“Did you know them?” He asked shocked. He stared at her terrified.
“Sirius killed Peter.” April said quietly.
“Sirius?” The man asked.
“My boyfriend.” April said. “Oh merlin, Lily, James.” April got out her wand and disapparated from the scene straight to Wales where Godric’s Hollow had once stood. She stared in horror at the charred remains of the house that had belonged to her best friend. She let out a shaky breath and ran into the house.
“LILY! JAMES!” She screamed as she ran through the doorless frame. “HARRY!” She ran through the house and bumped into a ministry official who was standing in Harry’s bedroom. He turned to look at April and looked at her suspiciously.
“Who are you?” He asked. April pointed her wand at a picture that still stood on the walls.
“Accio.” She said. The picture flew into her hand and she handed it to the ministry official. He looked at the picture and recognised April and Lily standing next to each other. He nodded and helped her up.
“What happened?” April asked frantically. She tried to look in Harry’s room.
“I’m afraid that Lily and James Potter were killed by the dark lord.” The Ministry official said. “Strange thing is that no one’s seen him anywhere, the deatheaters are in chaos. Reckon he’s finally been defeated, the Potters life taken with his.”
“What about Harry?”
“Who’s Harry?” The man asked.
“Their son, where is he?” April screamed at the ministry official.
“Don’t know about any son. Only found Lily and James Potter as well as a pile of clothes we suspect to be the dark lord’s.” the ministry official said. He turned and went back into the room. April collapsed onto the floor, she didn’t know what to do.
“Excuse me miss.” Came a high voice. April turned and saw Shoner standing nearby. “I has orders to work for you now miss. By mrs, Lily. She said to tell you miss that you-know-who has come to kill them and that James is dead, miss, and that she love you lots.” Shoner said tearfully.
April couldn’t believe it, Lily’s last message came from a house elf. They had been betrayed, how else could Voldemort have found them? Both of her best friends were dead. James and Peter were dead, Remus was missing and Sirius was definitely on his way to Azkaban for killing his best friend and his wife. April burst out crying and leaned against the charred walls. She cried for a few minutes until she keeled over and threw up on the floor.
Sirius was going to pay for what he’d done, a lifetime in Azkaban wouldn’t be enough.
