Sirius and Lucius whipped out their wands and pointed them at each other; a malicious aura pulsated between them. “What are you going to do now, Black?” Lucius taunted.

Sirius let out a low growling noise but remained otherwise still, an agonized look appearing on his face.

“What?” Lucius replied with mock concern. “Nothing?”

I took a step forward, slightly hesitating as the wind whipped my hair around viciously. “I thought we were meant to survive out here,” I said more calmly than I felt with the two wands pointed now at me. “And wouldn’t it be easier if we didn’t have to worry about us trying to attack each other?”

Lucius lowered his wand slightly and took a step closer to me, causing my uber calm look to turn into one of suspicion. As he reached touching distance, Lucius slapped my left cheek, leaving it smarting. “You don’t speak unless spoken to… Hasn’t your father taught you any manners?” he murmured coldly.

Don’t do anything rash! What do you mean rash? Well… you just told them not to fight and if you… Argh! Forget you! My cheek began to rapidly change colour, causing my eyes to narrow into a glare before I flicked my wand at him.

I than turned to look at the gaping Sirius already feeling better. You now have no lecturing rights. So what! Now I have bragging rights! And sniggering slightly.

“Nonverbal spell?” Sirius managed to get out.

“Uh huh… Umm, do you want to stick together or something?” I questioned before suddenly shivering as the moon began its slow trek across the night sky. Sirius grinned, looking me up and down before striding over to me, glancing at the unconscious Lucius, and then linking our arms together.

We walked close to 900 meters deeper into the dense, green forest in a comfortable silence before I suddenly ground to a stop, jerking Sirius’s arm back. “I think we should leave the grounds.” I stated beginning to panic.

Sirius looked around in confusion, trying to find some sign of danger but only heard the faint sound of a howling pack of wolves, which still seemed many kilometers away. “Why? I can protect us,” he answered suavely.

“No. I’d feel better in the trees.” I looked at him thoughtfully.

You can’t leave him; I mean, c’mon, he has full lips!

“Both of us,” I added as an after thought.

To prove my point, I tilted my head back and let out a shrill, piercing howl, only to be answered by another pack, much closer. I pulled the surprised boy’s arm. “C’mon!” I exclaimed, and promptly began climbing a tall red fern, shortly followed by a disgruntled looking Sirius.

“What about Malfoy?” Sirius questioned.

I grinned. “I don’t think Abraxas would let his only child and heir be eaten by some wolves… pity.”

Sirius began to dig in his pockets. He was grinning broadly all the while, causing me to look at him suspiciously.

“Hang on… You’re the Black boy!” I suddenly said realizing my mistake. I grabbed my wand and aimed it at his heart.

“Hang on… You’re the Black boy!” I suddenly said realizing my mistake. I grabbed my wand and aimed it at his heart.

I lowered my wand, comprehension dawning in my eyes, before dropping it as we heard a low, vicious growl from below. “Arghhh!” I screamed before looking down.

Sirius was staring at the ground in surprise before muttering an audible “offff” as an owl dropped a small parcel of letters on his stomach.

I grinned “Ah! Only timber wolves… I was beginning to panic.”

Sirius looked at me as if I was crazy before returning his attention to the parcel in his lap. I looked at the parcel also.

“Well? Why don’t you open it?” I asked impatiently as Sirius made no move to open it.

“It’s addressed to the both of us,” he muttered, eyes glued on the parcel. I waved an impatient arm, welcoming him to open it himself. Sirius ripped it open and began to read before stopping, a look of disbelief on his face.

Well?” I asked impatiently, feeling frustrated at being left out of the loop. Sirius just handed over the letter in disbelief.

Dear Mr. Black and Ms. Drake,

We are pleased to inform you that Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will be opening two weeks prior to the first of September. We are sorry for any inconveniences. Enclosed, you will find you book and supply lists.

Albus Dumbledore

I looked at the letter in an expression identical to Sirius’. “So… We leave for Hogwarts in a week…”

“And a bit,” Sirius added as an afterthought. “So you’re coming to Hogwarts, then?”

“Yeah, my cousin goes there.”

“What House and year is she in?” Sirius questioned.

He is a sixth year Gryffindor,” I replied, stressing the word ‘he’.

Sirius’s eyebrows rose suddenly. “Who?”

“You probably don’t know him… His name’s Peter Pettigrew.”

Sirius began to splutter. “Wormtail?!? But you two are completely different!”

I raised one eyebrow. “Wormtail?”

Sirius let out a burst of laughter. “Yeah, I know Peter… He’s actually a good mate of mine.”

I then raised both of my eyebrows and jerked back in surprise. “He has never mentioned you… He’s only ever mentioned a boy by the name of Rabastan… And that was only recently.”

Sirius’s eyebrows knitted together in concern.
