Five months after Lily’s redundancy the summer sun shone through the windows into the Potter’s house hold. Lily sat, slightly fed up and very worried, on the sofa. Every day there were more killings, every week Dumbledore had sent a warning about Lily and James staying inside the house. There was now regular news that the Deatheaters were killing children as well as adults. Dumbledore had told Lily, James and the Longbottoms about the source of the rumour about their children at the beginning of the month.
Once the Longbottoms had had their baby Dumbledore turned his attention to protecting the Potters. Dumbledore had been around during the Easter to put some charms on the house. As a result very few people could actually apparate into the house. This greatly annoyed Sirius because, lazy as he was, he couldn’t be bothered to apparate down the street and walk a few meters to the house. Lily hadn’t seen April for months and she was getting so bored of life. There was only so much anyone could read, even Lily! James made sure she stayed in the house and Lily had quickly exhausted all her books and had taken to practicing very complex charms.
“Surprise!” April screamed as she apparated into the house. Lily jumped with surprise and settled back on the sofa.
“Don’t ever do that!” Lily said holding a hand to her pounding heart. April tried to stifle a laugh.
“Sorry.” She said. Her hair was slightly short now, falling to just below the shoulders. Her skin was very tanned and she looked quite tired, but happy at the same time.
“How did you apparate in?” Lily asked, “Only, James, Dumbledore and I can apparate in to the house.” April gave her a wicked grin.
“Oh, you are mistaken my dear Flower.” April said. Lily raised an eyebrow at April’s change in attitude. “Dumbledore thought it might be a good idea to have a few aurors being able to apparate straight into the house so James’ parents, Moody and myself have the ability to do so.”
“You’re not an auror yet.” Lily said. She held out her hand. “Help me up.” April smirked and pulled Lily to her feet.
“You know, I have a faint memory of you being rather thin last time I saw you.” April said sarcastically. Lily gave her a tired look.
“You think this is funny?” Lily asked, “My back is aching, I’m tired, my hormones are STILL not under control, I can’t control my appetite and I’m really bored.” April hugged her friend in sympathy, well she tried to hug her. “Where have you been the past few months?”
“I’m sorry. I’ve been busy recently” April said. “Assessment, after assessment. The ministry is really desperate to train up all their aurors.” Lily frowned. “It’s not really that fun.”
“Fun, well at least you get to leave the house.” Lily said as she left the living room and went to the kitchen to get something to eat. April followed her and looked at her confused.
“What do you mean? Aren’t you allowed to leave the house?” April asked. Lily shook her head.
“Dumbledore wants me staying in, James has banned me from going out. But, James is going to have to pay for that.” Lily said smiling slightly. Still, even in the dark times James could make her smile.
“Do you know what day it is?” April asked Lily seriously. Lily nodded. The day was the thirty first of July. Lily knew that meant that if her baby was born today then there was even more chance that Voldemort would be after her. Naturally Lily had told April everything Dumbledore had told her once James knew.
“I’m scared.” Lily said. “What if the baby is the one to kill Voldemort. If Voldemort finds out he’ll definitely want to kill. I can’t handle yet another death.” Lily said, “Especially of my baby,” April sighed, she understood what Lily meant. Every death that effected Lily had effected her.
“Well, just keep low, and hopefully no one will tell Voldemort. If he does find out then Dumbledore will know what to do.” April said confidently. Lily smiled slightly and thought about what she would have done if April wasn’t around.

James fidgeted as he sat at the Order meeting. For once all four marauders were present. The meeting had just finished and James wanted to apparate straight back home. April had assured him that she’d go to Lily straight after she’d done her assessment. Sirius put a hand on James’ shoulder.
“You ok mate?” He asked worriedly. James nodded too quickly to be convincing. James hadn’t told any of his friends about the prophecy. He had lost his appetite about two weeks ago after the Longbottoms had their baby. His work had been getting a bit behind and all James wanted was for the baby to be born.
“You don’t look that good.” Remus said.
“It’s two and a half weeks after Lily’s due date, I’m feeling a bit anxious.” James said.
“James” came Dumbledore’s gentle voice behind him. James turned. “Any news?”
“No, still waiting.” James said. Dumbledore nodded gravely, “Lets hope that it doesn’t happen today, for your sake and for Lily’s sake.” James nodded, “Go and be with her.” James thanked Dumbledore and looked at his friends.
“Do you want to come?” James asked. Sirius nodded and Remus got his wand out. In a few minutes all four had arrived at Godric’s Hollow. Of course only James arrived directly in Godric’s hollow. He went to the door and opened it for his friends. Peter wasn’t with Sirius or Remus but James didn’t mind so much.
“This is getting really annoying.” Sirius said slightly annoyed.
“HOLY SHIT!” screamed April from the kitchen.
“Language!” came Lily’s response. “Shit!” the four ran to the kitchen, Remus slammed the door behind them all. The men all ran in to see April panicking.
“What do we do?” April asked. Lily and April were both staring at the floor. Sirius and James looked as well.
“Oh crap, you’re leaking!” Sirius said slightly alarmed.
“My water broke.” Lily said like it was an omen. She looked at James. James had gone very slightly paler.
“I’ll get my parents” James said. Lily nodded and James disappeared.
“I think we should get you to St. Mungos” Remus said uncertainly.
“No!” April and Lily said together.
“It has to be a home birth.” Lily said. Sirius looked confused but he was still staring at the wet puddle on the floor.
“Ok, to the bedroom.” April said turning Lily around and pushing her out of the door. Lily didn’t need to be told where to go. A few seconds later Mrs. Potter had apparated into the house. She was standing by the bedroom door and frowned when Lily came up the stairs.
“April, I think you should get Mrs. Chang. She specialises in home births.” Mrs. Potter said taking Lily gently. April nodded and apparated. “Come on Lily.” Mrs. Potter said as the first contraction struck Lily.
James and the marauders heard Lily’s first scream of pain. Sirius and Remus looked as anxious as James.
“It’s alright, it’s just a contraction.” Remus said, “It means she’ll be in labour soon.”
“She can’t.” James said quietly, “Not now.” Sirius and Remus looked at James confused
“But I thought you wanted to have the baby as soon as possible.” Sirius said.
“No, not today, any day but today.” James said anxiously.
“What?” Remus asked confused. James had thoroughly confused both his friends. James sighed and looked at his friends.
“Dumbledore heard a prophecy by his newest Divination teacher.” James started.
“Divination is a load of bull.” Sirius said.
“This was a proper prophecy. It said that the one with the power to defeat the dark lord will be born as the seventh month dies. The thirty-first of July, today. The child will be born to those who have defied Voldemort three times and while one is alive, the other won’t be able to survive.” James said anxiously.
“You don’t think that means your child do you?” Remus asked like it was ridiculous, “You’ve only been attacked twice.”
“It doesn’t stop Dumbledore from thinking it could be us.” James said, “That’s why Lily hasn’t been allowed out. Dumbledore thinks that it could be referring to us. He’s trying to get us to go into hiding but Lily doesn’t want to and I don’t think I could cope being stuck in the same place for ages.” James said. There were two cracks outside the living room. Sirius opened the door to see April with a tall Chinese woman with shirt black hair. She had a fairly pale complexion and dark eyes, Mrs. Chang.
“She’s upstairs.” April said.
“It is good you came to find me April.” Mrs. Chang said before disappearing up the stairs.
“How did she apparate in-”
“Dumbledore has lifted the apparating charm for a few people.” Aprils said. “I went to find him first Peter was there, he said he’ll be over soon.” April said. She went to Sirius and put her arms around him. She looked at James. “I have a horrible feeling it’ll be today.” James nodded his agreement. Sirius held April tightly and gave her a kiss.

“Just breathe, deep breaths” Mrs. Chang said. Darkness had fallen an hour ago and Lily had been in labour for three hours. Lily’s brow was covered in beads of sweat, she couldn’t do this, it was too hard.
“Come on Lily.” James said gently. He was sitting on the bed next to her letting her hold his hand. Lily had a surprisingly strong grip and he was losing feeling in his fingers. April sat on the other side of the bed with her wand out. Occasionally she’s put a spell on Lily to try and help ease the pain but she hated seeing Lily in pain as much as James hated it. Lily gritted her teeth and bit her lip as she tried to push again.
“Yes, that’s it.” Mrs. Chang said gently. Lily could feel something inside her abdomen moving slightly.
“No,” she breathed as the area between her legs burst into pain.
Downstairs in the living room Sirius covered his ears as he heard Lily scream again but this screamed seemed longer then usual. She was finally having the baby.
“This is it.” Sirius said. Remus nodded and looked at the ceiling where the screaming was coming from. There was a crack and Peter appeared he looked breathless and scared.
“Moony, Padfoot where’s Prongs?” Peter asked.
“Upstairs.” Remus said.
“They’re coming.” Peter said terrified. Remus and Sirius looked at him confused when there was a thud against the door. Remus and Sirius ran into the hall with their wands out. They looked at the door as it broke open and five figures in long black cloaks stood in the doorway.
