Hermione sighed. Normally, she didn’t do this kind of thing. It was very un-Hermione-like. Her hair was less frizzy today, courtesy of a spell she used. She had put a little eyeliner on. She gazed at her reflection in the mirror. She didn’t look like Hermione at all. “Ugh, this won’t do.” She said to herself. She flicker her wand, and she was back to normal. “Well, I suppose this will have to do.” She picked up her book bag and walked out the door, into the Common Room.
Harry and Ron were sitting there waiting for her. She blushed a little. “Hello Harry! Uhm... Ron!” “What you forgot his name or something?” Harry joked. “Sorry!” “Yeah, we’ve been waiting for five minutes! What took you?” Ron asked. “Oh, I couldn’t find my wand…” she lied. There was a slight awkward silence. “Alright then, let’s go to breakfast, shall we?” Hermione suggested, breaking the silence. They headed out.
When they entered breakfast at the Great Hall, it was loud. And still, Hermione heard: “Hey Hermione! Sit over here!” It was Fred. George looks uneasy. Last night, Ron had told Hermione secretly that his brother, George liked her. When she reassured him that she didn’t like George Ron became looser.
Fred and George moved so that the three of them could sit down. “Scrambled eggs! My favorite!” exclaimed Ron shortly before digging in. Hermione stared at him for a minute. He was even cute eating. Hermione blinked and then started eating. For the rest of breakfast, everyone was talking about the upcoming quidditch match, Gryffindor versus Syltherin. It was in 3 days. They were all deeply involved in their tactics. Feeling left out, Hermione gazed across the Great Hall. Luna caught her eye, and motioned her over. Hermione got up from her seat; no one even noticed that she got up, except for George. Hermione glanced at him, and he looked away.
Hermione hurried over to the Ravenclaw table where Luna was sitting. Luna made room for Hermione as she sat down next to her. “Hey, Luna! What’s up?” she asked. “Listen, there’s something I have to tell you…” “What’s wrong Luna?” “Well the thing is, I… I like Ron.” Hermione said nothing for a while. Luna desperately tried to get her attention. “Hermione? Hermione?” Finally Hermione broke from her flabbergasted emotion and looked at Luna. “Oh, sorry Luna. What were you saying?” “I like Ron, more than a friend… If you know what I mean.” “Yeah, I know EXACTLY what you mean.” “Do you think you could er, put in a good word for me?” Luna asked. “Oh, sure Luna!”
Hermione hurried from the Ravenclaw table and sat down at the Gryffindor table. “Um, Ron. I have to tell you something ASAP.” “Okay…” said Ron. “I’ll tell you later.” When breakfast ended, they said goodbye to the twins and walked to Potions. Potions in the morning was very unpleasant…
As they were walking, Hermione thought, a lot. “I’m sure Luna isn’t the only other person who likes him.. I have to make a move really soon, or I’ll regret it…”
