Background: Font color:
Hermione came in not to long after, face red and her hair dripping. Annie gasped and took a bunch of the napkins and stumbled over the eating children.
“Some of those Drunk Slytherin’s thought it was funny to have beer fountains.” Hermione frowned.
“I don’t believe them.” Ginny put her hands on her hips. “What is Harry doing?”
“He had one drink, but now he is trying to stop your brother.” Hermione muttered. “And Neville isn’t even in there; he is out by the greenhouses according to Harry.”
“Harry drank?” Ginny’s eyes widened.
“Not much.” Hermione said. “Small glass. He doesn’t seem affected.”
“But still, he’s about to be a father and he goes and drinks.” Ginny raged.
“It’ll be fine, Ginny. It’s a special occasion, and it was wine.” Hermione said, and Ginny seemed to calm down. “Well alright, but this whole thing is a disaster. I’m the one who requested they take breaks, and now all the teachers are having a meeting in the office, unaware of what is going on.”
“Well that’s not going to be pretty later.” Annie sighed.
“Where’s Mummy?” the pig-tail haired girl Hermione was talking to earlier asked. “What’s wrong?”
“She is in the other room.” Annie said. “So what game should we all play?”
“We don’t need to play anything, Auntie V.” Dylan growled. “We aren’t babies.”
“I know you aren’t.” Annie put her hands on her hips. “But maybe you all would want to do some activities.”
There were a bunch of yells of agreement. Annie smiled and Hermione and Ginny took some parchment from a desk and handed out pencils. They girls began to sit in their own desks and talked as they all drew.
“So who is you’re boyfriend, Hermione?” Ginny asked. Hermione blushed.
“Vicktor. Vicktor Krum.” Hermione said.
“Who’s he?” Annie asked.
“Champion Seeker.” Hermione mumbled. “We never really talk much anymore. He always has a Game.”
“Don’t worry, Hermione.” Annie said. “He loves you.”
“Well I don’t love him.” Hermione sighed. “He is more of a friend than a Boyfriend. I don’t really want to be with him anymore.”
“Then break up with him and find somebody else.” Ginny said. “I did that with Seamus, and look, I got Harry.”
“Maybe you’re right. But this will be all over the news, I don’t want that.” Hermione held her head.
“Better you break up with him than he break up with you.” Annie shrugged.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, if he breaks up with you, it makes you seem horrible, but if you break up with him, it won’t be too bad for you.” Annie said.
“I suppose you’re right.” Hermione bit her lip. “But I really like him as a friend. I don’t want to hurt him.”
“Tell him that.” Ginny put her hand on Hermione’s.
“I don’t know.” Hermione put her head in her hands.
“Hermione, you are one of the most powerful witches in the world! You can do this.” Ginny smiled. There were a few shrieks in the other room, and they went to investigate.
“Where is Sheena?” A woman called. Annie rolled her eyes and told Ginny and Hermione to stay in the room while she went up to the frantic mother. She grabbed Annie’s shoulders and shook her, screaming. “Where is my baby?” Annie could smell the alcohol.
“Sit down, Millicent.” Annie’s eyes narrowed. "I know where she is."
“YOU TOOK HER!?” She yelled and a few other frantic mothers were crying, and everybody staring.
“Not really.” Annie hissed. “And I refuse to tell you where she is.” She found herself on the ground, her face stinging from the punch sent her way. Annie held her nose as she got to her feet.
“GIVE HER BACK!” She raged.
“YOU’LL GET HER BACK WHEN YOU ARENT SO DRUNK! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED! YOU ALL SHOULD BE ASHAMED! ESPECIALLY YOU, PARVATI!” Annie screamed in her directions. “YOU ARE PREGNANT FOR MERLIN’S SAKE! AND THE REST OF YOU! IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN! YOU AREN’T GETTING THEM BACK UNTIL YOU GET SOME SENSE!”
“Ahh, Well said my dear.” An old, amused voice said from behind her. Annie looked over her shoulder to see her old headmaster and all the teachers, including a few other former students, Neville with them. “But I think you should go to the hospital wing, your throat may need some curing.”
“Funny.” Annie smirked. “I’ve got my own.” Madame Pomfrey blushed slightly, while McGonagall was glaring at all the students.
“Now, to your Dormitories. Yes, that is where you will be staying.” Dumbledore Announced. “You don’t have the passwords this time, however.”
The others all slowly walked out of the huge, wet room and to where they slept so long ago. Annie put her hand through her hair and Neville walked over, and put is arm around her shoulders.
“That was wonderful.” He said.
“I should really learn to control my anger.” Annie whispered as she went to the room with the children.
“Where will they sleep?” Neville asked.
“They can sleep in the Hospital Wing.” Pomfrey offered from the door.
“That would be perfect.” Annie smiled. “Alright, everybody come with me.” There were at least 7 sleeping ones and the rest were all eating cookies. Or drawing. They looked up and took whatever they could of the cookies there were and scrambled up to follow Ginny. Annie took a small girl and Dylan in her arms and followed after, Pomfrey, Neville, Hermione and Harry doing the same. They all went to the dreaded Hospital wing, which hadn’t changed much, if at all.
A neat pile of clothes appeared on their beds from the house elves and they all got changed and went to sleep. Annie wasn’t too tired and wanted to just go out and explore the grounds. Neville came along, eagerly.
The walked down mostly by the lake, watching the multicolor fireflies fly around. She could tell Neville fidgeting.
“Is anything wrong?” Annie asked. He shook his head and looked at the lake. They walked a little further, and then Neville stopped.
“I got to ask you something.” He said.
“Sure, go ahead.” Annie smiled. He bit his lip.
“I’m a little nervous.” Neville said.
“Go ahead.” Annie ushered him. “You don’t have to be afraid to ask me anything. I love you.”
Neville brightened slightly and fussed with his pocket. He took something dark out and bit his lip again, then knelt on the ground. Annie froze.
“Will you marry me?” He choked out and held out a gold ring with a larger ruby in the center and two small diamonds on the sides. Annie’s mouth dropped, but it was soon replaced by a smile.
“Of course I will, Neville!” Annie smiled, tears in her eyes. Neville got up and put the ring on her finger. Annie threw her arms around Neville and cried even more.
Annie couldn’t believe it. This was the worst day of her life, but turned into one of the best in a matter on minutes. Neville was blushing and in sort of a state of shock as they walked up to the Hospital Wing. Almost everyone was asleep, including Hermione, Harry and Ginny at the way end. They quickly kissed before going back to bed.
The next day, Neville was showing one of the little boys about one of the plants on the bedside tables. Annie smiled and went into the next room to change into her clothes. She came back, her heart light and happy. She could hardly way any thing without chocking.
“Where did you go out last night?” Ginny asked.
“You didn’t know?” Annie smiled.
“Know what?” Ginny asked, confused. Annie smiled while biting her lip from saying it too loud than she intended, and she didn’t want Ginny to scream like she normally did in exciting situations. Annie hid her hand in her pocket and walked down to the next room, and put a silencing charm on it.
“Tell me!” Ginny begged. Annie jumped up and down a bit and took her hand out to show Ginny.
“He did it!” Ginny screamed. “Oh my gosh!”
“I know!” Annie smiled. “But just don’t say anything in front of anybody, Neville didn’t tell you so maybe he didn’t want anybody to know.”
“But I can’t keep this in!” Ginny wined.
“Don’t make me put a memory charm on you!” Annie smirked and put her hands on her hips.
“Fine.” Ginny glared with a small smile. Annie released the charm and they walked back in. They walked in to see Draco and Pansy walking in, slightly abashed. Annie smiled.
“Dylan is over here.” Annie said. “He is napping.”
“How did you know my son’s name?” He glared. “Did he tell you?”
“No. Pansy let it slip when I helped heal one of his cuts.” Annie said pleasantly. “Right before she practically yelled at me for it.”
“I don’t want you near him.” He hissed.
“Take him away then.” Annie said. Right then, the boy woke up.
“Hello Father.” He got out of bed.
“Come here.” Draco ordered, and the boy ran into his mother’s arms.
“That’s Auntie V, father. She helped me yesterday.” He said. Draco blushed when he said ‘Auntie V.’
“She is my Godmother, Isn’t she, Fath-“He continued.
“Enough, Dylan.” He turned and they left the room. Annie stood in shock for quite a while after the door slammed.
“You’re his Godmother?” Ginny asked.
“I didn’t know.” Annie whispered.
“He still wants you to be Veronica.” Ginny said.
“We always did have a special bond when we were children.” Annie muttered. “The closest in fact. But that’s all gone now.”
“I can see it in your eyes. You still want that bond.” Ginny stared.
“No I don’t.” Annie frowned. “And that was too bold of you to say.”
“Whatever, Annie. In case you didn’t know, I am good with that kind of thing.” Ginny folded her arms. “Why don’t you go talk to him?”
“No.” Annie chewed her tongue.
“I want you to talk to him.” Ginny said.
“Don’t be silly, Ginny.” Annie glared. “I don’t want anything to do with him.”
“Annie, I have a confession to make.” Ginny bit her lip. “Draco and Narcissa sent you a photo Album before she died. I… I hid if from you. I looked inside and saw you and him together. It was like the relationship you and Ron had as babies. I didn’t want you to see it because it might have changed you back into a Malfoy. I was paranoid back then.”
“To tell you the truth, I never forgave Ron for thinking that of me. I don’t have a good relationship with him.” Annie stated. “Just like I will never forgive Draco.”
“Come to my house tonight.” Ginny said. “I want to show you it.”
“Why do you even want me to know that? Do you want me back as a Malfoy?” Annie glared.
“Of course not. But… you… You look empty.”
“Right. I finally succeeded in forgetting everything, and you bring it back.” Annie’s eyes watered. “Ginny, I don’t think I want to talk to you right now.”
“Annie, come on!” Ginny called after her, but Annie didn’t turn even to glare. Neville wiped his hands on his shirt and walked next to her.
“She is mad at me for the first time ever.” Ginny put her face in her hands.
“What did you do?” Neville frowned.
“I told her to go talk to Malfoy. I can tell she misses him. She looks…”
“I’ve noticed it too.” Neville bit his lip. “But I can tell she didn’t want it brought up. She wants everything forgotten.”
“I know.” Ginny sighs. “I’m stupid.”
“No you aren’t.” Neville sighed. There was a long pause. “Did Annie tell you? I can’t believe she accepted.”
“I can. She talked about wanting to, 3 years ago.” Ginny sniggered.
“Really? I feel stupid.” Neville blushed.
Annie didn’t go far out into the halls, but into one of the Girl’s lavatories on the lower floor and sobbed on one of the sinks.
“Oooh, I do the same thing.” A high, misty voice soothed. Annie looked up and jumped.
“Who are you?”
“Myrtle.” She said.
“Great. I sort of wanted to be alone, so I’ll go now.” Annie wiped her tears away, and started for the door.
“No, wait. I haven’t talked to anybody for a long time!” She flew in front of the door. “Please stay.”
“Fine.” Annie folded her arms and sat on a bench in the room.
“I don’t want to talk about it ever.” Annie gritted her teeth.
“It won’t leave this lavatory.” Myrtle promised.
