It’s like you’re a drug
It’s like you’re a demon I can’t face down
It’s like I’m stuck
It’s like I’m running from you all the time

Narcissa Malfoy had been home from St. Mungo’s for a week, but it felt like a month. Draco only spoke of getting her away from Lucias. She was tired of telling him that she was staying. He was a true Malfoy, there was no doubt about it- he was as stubborn and hard-headed as the entire line.
Draco was having no luck with his mother. He was trying has hard as he could to get her out of the mansion and away from his father. For some odd reason, she was fixed on staying with Lucias. His father was abusive and his mother was in danger.
“Mum, he’s nearly killed you once, who’s to say he won’t do it again?” said to his mother one afternoon.
“Draco, I’ve told you this already. I love your father. Deep down, he’s a wonderful man. You just haven’t seen that side for awhile,” Narcissa replied tiredly.
“Mum, Dad hasn’t been a “wonderful man” for as long as I can remember!”
“He’s just under a lot of stress right now, honey.”
“Stress has nothing to do with it, mum! He’s killing you!”
“Draco, I love your father. I’m not leaving and that’s final. Now, please, I’m tired.”
Draco sighed and left his mother alone in her room to sleep. He headed downstairs and found the one thing he had been waiting for. His father was standing at the bottom of the stairs, waiting for him. Draco mustered all of his strength and courage and descended the stairs fearlessly.
“Where is your mother?” Lucias asked coldly.
“She’s asleep,” Draco replied. Lucias attempted to push past his son, but Draco held him back. “Didn’t you hear me? I said she’s sleeping!”
“You’re testing my patience, boy! Get out of my way.”
“No, I won’t let you disturb her.”
“Get out of my way!”
Lucias shoved his son against the wall and hurried up the stairs.

And I know I let you
Have all the power
It’s like you’re the only company I seek
Is misery all around?
Draco clambered up off of the floor and hurried after his father, reaching the door only to find his father standing there, waiting. Lucias gripped the back of his son’s neck and pulled him into the room with him. He slammed the door, locked it, and shoved his son down onto the floor. Without delay, Lucias moved to the side of the bed, gripped his wife’s arms tightly and shook her forcefully. Draco was up on his feet in an instant.
“STOP IT!” Draco shouted, trying to pull his father away from Narcissa. Lucias shoved his son away so roughly that Draco’s back hit the dresser, causing a few perfume bottles to fall and shatter on the floor. Lucias turned back to Narcissa.
“What did you tell them?!” he hissed.
“Nothing!” Narcissa exclaimed fearfully.
“You lie!” He back handed her and she let out a cry.
Draco moved forward again, this time wrapping one arm around his father’s neck. His other hand gripped his wand tightly, digging it in between Lucias’s shoulder blades.
“Leave her alone!” Draco whispered hoarsely. Lucias released Narcissa and Draco, thinking the fight was through, released his father.
Lucias whipped around, his wand out. He disarmed Draco and latched on to his arm.

It’s like you’re a leach
Sucking the life from me
It’s like I can’t breath
Without you inside of me

“I know this boy has tried to convince you leave me,” Lucias said coldly. “Have you decided to listen to him, Narcissa?”
“No, of course not! I love you, Lucias!” Narcissa replied.
“Mum!” Draco exclaimed with horror.
“Silence!” Lucias tightened his grip on Draco’s arm. “I think we have heard enough from you now.”
“I will speak my mind whether you like it or not!” Draco shouted. “You have no right to hit her! You don’t even care enough to see that you’re killing her!”
“Shut up!” Lucias threw Draco down onto the ground and kicked him sharply in the stomach. “You will speak when spoken to, boy! It’s time I taught you some respect!”
“Lucias, no!” Narcissa called, but Lucias ignored her. He pulled Draco to his feet and punched him sharply in the face, tuning out the protesting cries from his wife as she watched her son being beat by his father.
“You will no longer disobey me!” Lucias shouted in between hits and kicks that eventually land Draco on the floor again, struggling to breath and bleeding badly in places. “You will respect me! I am your father!”
“YOU ARE NOT MY FATHER!” Draco screamed, jumping to his feet. He threw a fist towards Lucias, but it was blocked and he was hit in the stomach. He doubled over in pain and dropped to his knees as a hard blow struck him between his shoulders.
“Lucias, stop this! He is your son! You can’t possibly-” Narcissa was begging now. Lucias turned and struck her hard across the face.
“Silence!” he shouted.
“I said leave her alone!” Draco commanded, climbing to his feet and moving towards his father.
“Don’t try to be a hero, boy!”
Draco ignored the comment and threw another fist towards his father. This one was blocked by Lucias and he twisted his son’s wrist roughly, listening to the bones crack as it broke. He shoved the boy back and picked his wand up from the floor where it had fallen earlier.

And I know I let you
Have all the power
And I realize I’m never gonna
Quit you over time

“Lucias, stop! Stop!” Narcissa was on her feet now, though she was still in pain from her wounds. “I’ve stuck up for you for years and this is how you repay me? I believed in you! I kept hoping that you’d change!”
“You wasted your time, Narcissa!” Lucias spat.
“I won’t do it again! I’m going to the ministry, Lucias! I’m telling them everything!”
“No you’re not!” Lucias pointed his wand at her and a jet of light came soaring out, hitting her in the chest and knocking her off her feet.
“MUM!” Draco exclaimed, hurrying to her side. “You alright, mum?”
“I’m fine, honey. Get out of here,” she replied.
“No, I won’t leave you.”

It’s like I can’t breathe
It’s like I can’t see anything
Nothing but you
I’m addicted to you

“Go, now,” Narcissa pleaded. Draco looked into his mother’s eyes and saw that she was serious. He saw something else, as well- fear. He gave her a despairing look before apparating away, not giving his father enough time to protest. Lucias turned on Narcissa, anger burning in his eyes. She backed up in fear.

Draco appeared in London, outside the Leaky Cauldron. He ordered a butterbeer and moved off to a dark table in the corner of the room where he would be left alone to think. He had to perfect his plans to get Narcissa out of the mansion. Lucias was killing her, and Draco knew it. What he didn’t understand was how his mother couldn’t see how awful Lucias really was.
‘It’s like she’s addicted to him,’ Draco thought. ‘Well, I guess I’ll just have to break that addiction. It’s time to get serious.’ He tossed a few ideas around in his head while he sipped his butterbeer. ‘That’s it!’ he thought when he finally found a plan that seemed as though it would work. ‘She thinks he’s a good guy, but I’ll just have to show her what he’s really like…’

It’s like I can’t think
Without you interrupting me
In my thoughts, in my dreams
You’ve taken over me
It’s like I’m not me
It’s like I’m not me

Draco arrived home only half an hour after he left. He prayed he wasn’t too late. He could hear his father’s angry voice echoing throughout the empty house. He took the stairs two at a time, darted down the hall, and blasted his parents’ door open with his wand.
Lucias was standing over Narcissa, his hands gripping her arms tightly. His mother was terrified; Draco could see it in her eyes. Lucias turned sharply towards the door and gave his son a glare filled with hatred, loathing, and downright detestation.
“Leave her alone! You have tortured her enough, father!” Draco exclaimed, moving towards Lucias, his wand level with his father’s heart.
“Stay out this boy. You’re in enough trouble already,” Lucias hissed.
“I will not stay out of it! Someone’s got to stand up for her, father. Since you’ve decided she isn’t worth anything, I guess it’s my job to protect her. I will not let you harm her again. Let her go.”
“You insolent fool! I’m going to teach you a lesson you’ll never forget, boy!” Lucias released Narcissa and lunged for Draco.
“Rictusempra!” Draco said. The spell sent his father flying back. Lucias didn’t give up. He stood and made another move to grab onto his son. “Stupe-”
Before Draco could finish the spell, Lucias was upon him. He grabbed onto Draco’s wrist and twisted it fiercely, breaking it and causing the boy to lose grip of his wand. Lucias snatched the wand before it hit the ground and immediately turned it on his son.

It’s like I’m lost
It’s like I’m giving up slowly
It’s like you’re a ghost that’s haunting me, leave me alone
And I know these voices in my head are mine alone
And I know I’ll never change my ways if I don’t give you up now

Lucias pulled his son over by his broken wrist and wrapped his arm around his throat to hold him still.
“I should have done this the day you were born, boy!” Lucias murmured hoarsely. He put the wand to the boy’s head. “Avada-”
Draco slammed his elbow into his father’s stomach. Lucias doubled over in pain and half threw, half dropped the wand with such force that it hit the ground- and broke in two. Now wand-less, Draco had no choice but to face his father one-on-one. It was by far a fair fight. Lucias was both bigger and stronger than Draco.
Draco mustered all the courage he held and raised his fists, ready to attack when his father came at him again. Lucias stood and laughed at Draco’s fighting stance.
“Do you think you can beat me at this, Draco? I am your father. I am both stronger and wiser than you. You can only fail,” he said coldly.
“I’m willing to try,” Draco replied. He was completely focused, no longer afraid. He could feel the hatred of the past 16 years swelling up inside of him. He had imagined this day many times, but never thought it would come. Now it was here and he was determined to do his best.

It’s like I can’t breathe
It’s like I can’t see anything
Nothing but you
I’m addicted to you

Narcissa watched her son and her husband with utter horror and shock. She had known that Lucias could be vicious, but never thought he would attack his own son.
‘Perhaps Draco was right after all,’ she thought. She watched in terror as Lucias threw a fist at their son and hit the boy in the face. ‘I have to stop this.’
Draco moved a hand to his face and wiped the blood away from his lip. He returned to his stance and eyed his father, waiting for the next move.
Lucias threw another punch at the boy, but Draco was ready. He blocked his father’s attack and sent one of his own, headed for his father’s nose. Lucias, however, surprised him. He latched on to the boy’s wrist and swept his feet out from under him in one kick. Draco moved to stand, but Lucias had another idea. He aimed a kick and grinned vilely as he made contact with Draco’s ribs.
Draco slumped back onto the ground and took a gasping breath. This fight was turning out to be worse than he could ever have imagined. He was going to lose, and he knew it. What was worse, his mother knew it, too. He had wanted so badly to show her Lucias’s true side, but, at the same time, he wanted to show her that he was strong and that he could stand up to his father and win. But, it didn’t seem as though that would happen. He was weak, he knew, and he was going to lose.

It’s like I can’t think
Without you interrupting me
In my thoughts, in my dreams
You’ve taken over me
It’s like I’m not me
It’s like I’m not me

“Stop!” Narcissa exclaimed. “Lucias, stop this! You’re hurting him! You’re only son!”
“Silence!” Lucias screamed. “I will deal with you later! For now, I will take care of this impudent wretch!” Lucias grabbed a hold of his son’s shirt and pulled him to his feet. “You’ve disgraced this family enough, boy. It’s time to end it.”
“There was nothing left to disgrace, father! You did all the disgracing yourself!” Draco spat.
“I will not be silenced!” With that, Draco grabbed onto his father’s shoulders and head-butted him. Lucias stumbled back, regained his composure after a moment, and moved back towards his son.
“You shall pay for every moment of indignity you have shown me! I am your father, and today, you will show me respect!”
“I would die before I would show you respect!”

I’m hooked on you
I need a fix, I can’t take it
Just one more hit
I promise I can deal with it
I’ll handle it, quit it
Just one more time, then that’s it
Just a little bit more to get me through this

Lucias was fuming with rage now. He moved forward and gripped his son by the throat. He pulled his wand from his robes and set it to his son’s head before turning to his wife.
“Say good bye to your precious son!” he hissed. “AVADA KEDAVRA!”
“NO!!!” Narcissa screamed.
Draco went limp immediately. Lucias released the boy and watched him fall to the floor. Narcissa looked at her lifeless son in utter shock.
“HOW COULD YOU?” she asked of her husband. “HE WAS YOUR SON! YOUR ONLY SON, LUCIAS!”
“He was a disgrace, a menace. That boy was no son of mine!” Lucias turned swiftly on his heal and apparated.
Narcissa moved to her son’s side. He looked as though he could still be alive. His eyes were open, but they no longer had their warm glisten.

It’s like I can’t breathe
It’s like I can’t see anything
Nothing but you
I’m addicted to you
It’s like I can’t think
Without you interrupting me
In my thoughts
In my dreams
You’ve taken over me

It’s like I’m not me

After the burial of her son, Narcissa Malfoy moved out of the Malfoy mansion forever, having finally learned what her husband was truly like.
Lucias Malfoy did not attend his son’s funeral. He stayed with the Dark Lord and was arrested and taken to Azkaban a month after taking his son’s life.
Draco had finally succeeded in showing his mother that Lucias was not the man she thought him to be. Through his death, Draco freed his mother from a life of torment.
