After the memorable proposal from Harry, the school finally started to calm down; for everyone except Harry, of course. Everywhere he turned Hermione was there asking his opinion about place settings for the wedding reception, color swatches, she even went as far as name cards for all of the guests. By the end of October, Harry was just about done for. He needed to escape. He went to his parents.
Over the summer, Harry had been trying to find a way to free his parents from the bondage of the Sanctuary Room. On many times he had come close, but still, there were no other leads to free them. At first, he was depressed that no one could help them; even Dumbledore said he didn’t know all of the secrets of the castle. But now, Harry would climb the stairs with a heavy heart because he knew there was no hope to help them. So now, with each step, he thinks of all of the blessings he has now that he does have his parents in his life…something that he always wanted.
As Harry stopped by the Sanctuary Room, he heard chatter coming from inside the room. He hear his parents of course, but there was another familiar voice coming from within…a male voice. Harry, curious to find out who this person was, opened the door and found his parents sitting on the couch and Professor Rehtom in the armchair.
“Harry,” his mother exclaimed, “We were not expecting you!” Something was weird about the way his mother was acting. Her eyes kept darting from him to his professor.
“Hello, mum, dad…er…professor.” Said Harry Still very confused. “Professor, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what are you doing in here with my parents?” The professor looked almost afraid that she was caught unawares. She stood, muttered something under her breath then cleared her throat.
“Mr. Potter, so nice to see you again.” She nodded her head to James and Lily then left the room. Harry probably thought that she was there to talk with his parents about his schoolwork, but then why the formalities? Harry shrugged then turned to his parents.
“Did you ever find out why the Professor was in the Sanctuary room?” Asked Romulus. His interest perked at the thought that mutiny was afoot. He was always one for adventure, just like his old dad.
“We will get to that soon enough, let me finish!”
“Fine, but I hope it’s soon. At first you were starting to sound like that ghost, Binns!”
“Ha ha, very funny, wise guy!”
“Hi mum, dad, what was all that about?” Harry asked.
“Oh, nothing,” Lily said. “She was just talking about that essay you wrote for her at the end of last term. She seemed impressed that you had come to such a mature conclusion.” Harry noticed that she was not completely telling him the whole truth, but he brushed it off as adult talk that wasn’t very important.
“So, Harry,” his dad said, taking him out of his thoughts, “why are you visiting us today? Is Hermione still on you about wedding details?”
“Of course she is dad, what kind of question is that? That’s like asking me if Hagrid keeps wild and dangerous creatures hidden in his hut!” James laughed heartily.
“Well son, welcome to the club!” James winced as Lily thumped him on the back of his head and vanished. “You will soon know, son,” James said quietly, “that all women are impulsive when it comes to making decisions. They seem to want to know your opinion about everything, but don’t let that fool you…anything you say will be a bad idea. All I can say is take it in stride and ride it out. Oh,” he added as an afterthought, “ and whatever you do just say, ‘that’s a wonderful idea, honey’, she will think you are always listening.” Harry laughed out loud as Lily reappeared and thumped her husband again.
“Oy! That hurts, y’know!” He whined
“I know it does, that’s why I did it!” chastised Lily, “I don’t want you filling our son’s head with that ‘man law’ rubbish!” They all had a good laugh as Lily settled herself in the couch across from the two most important men in her life and spoke of everything that happened since the last time they visited.
Although most things were looking joyous at the school, things at Grimmauld Place were not so great. Remus sat in Sirius’ old room thinking about what was in store for him. It was strange that no one thought about what it meant for a child to be named Romulus, he did and he was worried. Sure everyone knew the legend about the brothers Remus and Romulus. But what most people didn’t know was that there had always been a curse forced upon anyone who were named after the brothers. If there was a Remus and a Romulus was born after him, then Remus was forced with the curse of being killed by Romulus…even if they were not brothers.
This fact alone always had Remus worried, since he was a child, that someone out in the world could kill him. In his forty years, he is now facing this dilemma. Remus knew that he had a few years before any threat could really come from the baby, but how much time, there wasn’t really an answer to that. There was only one thing he could do, kill Romulus before he gets terminated. Remus sat his glass of firewhisky down and placed his head in his hands.
“I am sorry, Harry.”
