Sirius woke with a jolt, stirred by sound similar to those a wood pecker would makes when poking a tree.
Taking his time, he crawled out of bed. The rapping on the door only became louder.
“Sirius, open up! It’s Harry!”
Pulled onto protective father mode at Harry’s panicked voice, he ran to the door and yanked it open. “What is it? What’s happened?”
Harry’s face was stricken with pain. “Can you take Lily for a few days. Just two or three, please?”
“Harry, it’s two in the morning. What’s going on?” Fear was rising in the pit of his stomach.
“Can you are not?” He seemed frustrated.
“Come in here,” Sirius told Harry as he grabbed his arm.
“Sirius, we don’t – “ Sirius pulled him in and shut the door.
“What happened?” Sirius repeated.
“We – Can you keep her or not? I need to know.”
“Yes, of course, but I need to know what is going on. Is she in danger? Has something happened with the death eaters?”
Harry barely let him get the words out. “We may have found Ginny,” He replied quickly.
“Really? Where? When?”
“I can’t go into the specifics; we may not have much time. I have to go. I’ll get Lily.” He disapparated.
Sirius walked to the linen closet and grabbed a few blankets. He had just laid them out when Harry appeared by the doorway with the child in his arms, dropping two bags.
“Here you go, squirt,” He cooed as he laid her on the makeshift bed. She instantly went back into her dreamland. Harry kissed her forehead and pulled some of the covers over her.
He reached back down and grabbed Lily’s pink bag that he had sat down before. “This stuff should keep her occupied. She shouldn’t give you any problems, she never does with Ron or Hermione. She’s not allergic to anything that we know of, but she’s like me, she hates most vegetables and loves fruit, if all else fails give her some grapes and she’ll be fine. You have my cell phone number in case of emergencies. I shouldn’t be gone for more than two or three –“
“You said that.”
Harry gave him a look that said ‘I’m a father now, I have to say this, she’s my baby.’ “But she has enough clothes in this bag,” he grabbed the other, “for a week, just in case.”
“She’ll be fine. I’ll take good care of your precious baby girl.”
“I know. I just… I don’t want to leave her. I’ve never left her with anyone before.”
“Harry, just go get her mother. Go get your wife.”

“So what’s going on? What do you know?” Harry asked as he entered Headmistress McGonagal’s office.
“Mr. Potter, you’re here,” the minister said, stating the obvious to the three of them.
“Yes, now what is happening with my wife? What do you know?”
“Apparently, Mr. Malfoy has been behind all this,” McGonagal began. “We found him when the ministry searched Malfoy Manor. He’s been very laid back about the whole thing, though. He believes he’s in control of it.”
“Well, he has had her for three and a half years. It seems to me he is.”
“He has given us her location, but we can’t get to her.”
“Why not? What’s stopping us? Where is my wife?” Harry asked again, rather annoyed at the situation.
“I said we can’t,” she said, indicating her and the minister. “You, however, can.”
“What do you mean?”
“You are the only one that has ever been there.”
“What? Where…” It hit like a lightning bolt, quick and heartbreaking. “She can’t be…”
“Yes, she can... and she is.”
