“Hi Marietta” Ginny said smiling and hoping that would be the end of the conversation.
“Hi Ginny, how are you? How’s Neville?” Marietta said.
“Fine” Ginny answered and then began walking towards the back of the store towards the potions she wanted to look at.
Marietta sighed and then walked around the store herself. Little did Ginny know that Cho was also on her way to the potion shop to meet up with Marietta. When Cho walked in, Ginny didn’t see her.
Cho walked over to Marietta and said, “What’s taking you so long?”
“I’m trying to find it. I can’t.” Marietta said.
“Let’s just ask the store owner so we can get out of here.” Cho said.
They walked over to the owner and Cho discretely asked, “Do you have a potion that can tell the father of a child when the girl is still pregnant?”
“I see, let me get that for you. It’s over here in the back. Follow me” said the shop owner, Vanessa.
Vanessa walked over to the shelf where the rare potions were and got on the step stool and reached for the potion and brought it back down. “Here you go dear. All you do is pull a hair from each of the two men and pour this into a glass. Put the each of the hairs on your tummy and then dab the potion on top of the hair. If a purple smoke appears, that is the father of your baby.” Vanessa said as she handed the potion over to Cho.
Ginny couldn’t help but overhear Vanessa explaining all of this for it was a small shop. Ginny stepped out from around the tall shelves and looked at Cho and almost said something. Marietta saw Ginny and then turned to Cho and said, “Oh Merlin, look who it is? Do you think she heard?”
Cho looked at Ginny and walked over to her and said, “What are you starring at?”
Ginny couldn’t help but say, “Is that for you?”
“It’s really none of your concern if it’s for me or not.” Cho said.
“Sorry, I just.” Ginny said.
“Well, don’t. Stop eavesdropping on people’s conversations.” Cho snapped and then went to the register to pay.
Ginny just shook her head and realized that Cho would always be rude. She didn’t care. But, she did wonder who that potion was for. She had a strange feeling about it.
Cho and Marietta left the store quickly while Ginny had found what she was looking for. She walked up to the register and handed Vanessa the potions she wanted.
“Is this all, dear?” Vanessa said.
“Yes” Ginny said.
“Is that girl your friend, the girl who was just here?” Vanessa said.
“Well, I know her. Why do you ask?” Ginny said.
“Oh, I just forgot to tell her something about that potion. Never you mind, I’ll send her an owl, I have her information.” Vanessa said.
“Was that potion for her?” Ginny couldn’t help but ask.
“Of course it was. I would have never given that potion to someone who wasn’t with child. Why do you ask?” Vanessa said not knowing that she had just spilled the secret.
Ginny’s eyes widen and she couldn’t believe her ears. She paid for her items and said “good day” and left the store. She didn’t know what she was going to do. Should she tell Ron? Should she tell Harry? And what about Hermione? She wondered what else would happen this year.
Meanwhile, Harry was knocking on Ron’s door hoping to talk with him. He didn’t like how Ron was taking things but he wanted everything to be good between them. He was his best friend. Harry waited for a few more minutes and Ron eventually opened the door and said, “What do you want?”
“I wanted to talk to you about things.” Harry said.
“Fine. Come in.” Ron said opening the door and letting Harry in.
Harry and Ron walked over to the kitchen table and sat down. Harry started the conversation and said, “We need to straighten things out between us. I know that you hate me right now. But, you are my best friend and I want you to still remain my best friend.”
“I know. It’s just hard for me. I know that you and Hermione deserve each other and that you two belong together. I guess I was a little shocked when I heard of your engagement. I didn’t think that you were going to go and ask her first thing” Ron said with a small smile.
“Yeah, that was something that I didn’t plan on, but I knew that I wanted her to be in my life forever and that it was the perfect moment” said Harry.
“Well, maybe one day I will find my perfect moment and be happy like you two are. I cherish your friendship along with hers. I don’t hate you. It just might take a few weeks and or months for me to be 100% okay with it. But, I don’t hate you.” Ron said.
“Well, that’s good to know. You know, I have a question to ask you.” Harry said.
“What’s that? Haven’t we bonded enough for today?” Ron joked.
“I would love for you to be my best man at the wedding, but I completely understand I if you don’t want to be.” Harry said.
“Of course I will. So, when is the big day?” Ron asked.
“Well, Hermione picked the day. We haven’t really told anyone yet but, she won’t mind if you know. It’s September 1st.” Harry said.
“Why that day?” Ron asked.
“It’s the day we first met on Hogwarts Express”, smiled Harry.
“Wow, that’s very Hermione-like for her to remember that day”, laughed Ron.
Harry was glad that Ron was able to laugh. They caught up on old times over the next few hours and Harry felt like for the first time in a few days, that the friendship with Ron would continue.
