She couldn’t believe she had just said yes to James Potter. James Potter, the most arrogant git in the whole school. Yes, he had changed a bit, he was more civilized, and sweeter…and smarter….but that wasn’t the point! If she wasn’t mistaken he had ruffled his hair a bit. Oh well, it was too late now and he did promise to be nice. So then there was no point in letting it distract her from the lesson. Even though she could just feel his eyes on her she wasn’t going to look at him. Besides Charms was her favorite class and she excelled at it in her O.W.Ls.
The next morning Lily awoke. Her hair was shiny and full of bounce, her lips glossed and her cheeks were glowing with a slight blush. After a final check in the mirror she declared herself ready to go.
‘Okay, Lily this will be a great date,’ she told herself, ‘He’s been headboy with you for over half of the year and he hasn’t done anything disrespectable, yet. So this date shouldn’t be any different.’
As Lily went up the stairs she heard three very familiar voices.
“Prongs, don’t worry! It’ll be fine, just as long as you act like a gentleman….oh and don’t ruffle your hair. She hates that!”
“Right…okay. Thanks, Padfoot.”
“Where are you taking her?”
“I don’t really know. What do you think, Remus? So far, all I’ve got is we’re going to eat breakfast here and then walk to Hogsmeade. I thought I would let her do whatever she wanted.”
“That’s not a good plan, mate. You need to surprise her. Romance her, if you want her, that is. She’s already skeptical of you so you have to show a different side of you.”
“Is Moony gay?”
“Sirius, shove it.” Lily decided that she should give James a few more moments…she couldn’t believe he could actually get nervous. She had always thought that he was too arrogant to even hold the feeling of anticipation and anxiety.
“You’re right, Remus. I think I know just the place…when are you going to the Shrieking Shack?” That was random.
“Er, at sunset. Why?” Lily had figured out her 2nd year that Remus Lupin was a werewolf, but she didn’t tell anyone, not even him until their 4th year when she offered to help him with a charm she had read about. They had become good friends since then.
“I was just curious, so that we can stay away from there in case you guys decide to roam about.”
“Okay~” Lily decided that this was a good enough time to go into the commons. James mouth dropped a little when he saw her. ‘Beautiful.’ He thought. Lily blushed when she saw this and noticed that Sirius and Lupin were having a similar reaction.
“Well…er…James…shall we go to breakfast and get the day started?” James shook his head to snap out of it.
“Yes, right this way Lily.” He smiled and took her hand as they left through the portrait hole.
