“The chosen one has conquered he-who-must-not-be-named!” Chanted the many crowds that were cluttering the streets. Harry couldn’t believe that even though Voldemort was dead, people refused to call him by his real name. Resting his arm on the windowsill, Harry looked down at the crowds in the street from his flat window. He was careful not to reveal his presence by hiding the majority of his body behind the curtain, as he didn’t like the idea of all this publicity. He gazed into the sunset, wishing that Dumbledore could have been there to see him triumph over Voldemort, but there was no chance of that ever happening. He wished that Sirius was still alive, the man who had been the closest thing he had to a father. He could imagine Sirius’ face when he found out that Dumbledore’s Army had won, his eyes full of happiness and joy. Harry missed him so much and thought about him everyday. He felt a single tear trickle down his cheek and hastily wiped it away with the sleeve of his jumper that Mrs. Weasley had knitted him as a “congratulations” gift. The thought of the Weasleys made his stomach turn, as he always thought about Ginny when they popped into his head. He still loved Ginny so much, but hadn’t had anytime to tell her that as every time he set foot into the outside world, he would be bombarded with so many people congratulating him and thanking him. This was all very nice, but it made Harry feel like a prisoner because he couldn’t go anywhere without flocks of people following him.

“I’ll tell her tomorrow,” he told himself. And with that he climbed into bed, tossed and turned for a while as he thought about Ginny, and eventually fell to sleep.

Harry woke up the next morning with his heart in his mouth. What was wrong with him? He’d dated Ginny before, so what was the problem. He grabbed anything he could lay his hands on from the piles of clothes that were strewn across his bedroom floor and hastily got ready. He caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror and couldn’t believe his eyes. His hair was messier than usual, he was unshaven and was covered in cuts and bruises. He had been so busy looking for the horcruxes and conquering Voldemort that he hadn’t had time to take care of his appearance, not that he bothered with it much anyway. He quickly did a few charms on himself that made him look a little more presentable. He laughed at the fact that his hair wouldn’t even lie flat even with a grooming charm. He stood in front of his mirror and started to practice what he was going to say to Ginny that afternoon when he had lunch at the Weasleys’.

“Ginny, you know how I feel about you,” he started off, rather confidently, “ so I…wondering if you’d …um..OH FUCK!!”

Harry got rather exasperated with himself. He couldn’t even hold a conversation with a wall mirror, let alone a human being.

“Fuck sake Harry!” he scolded at his reflection, “you can fight off dementors, death eaters, werewolves…even Voldemort, but you can’t even ask a girl out! You’re nothing but a complete arse!”
And with that, Harry decided to give up on chatting up a mirror and apparated to the Weasleys’.

He arrived in the hallway of The Burrow and was greeted with the smell of Mrs. Weasleys cooking. It smelt delicious and made Harry’s stomach rumble violently. He had been fretting over Ginny so much that he had forgot to eat breakfast.

“Harry! I’m so pleased to see you!” greeted Mrs. Weasley with open arms. “I’ve just put the dinner on, love, so you’ll have to wait a while. Oh, everyone’s dying to see you! Especially little Kara, she thinks the world of you!”

Harry followed Mrs. Weasley into the living room and was immediately greeted by Kara.

“Harry!” she yelled as she ran towards him and leapt into his arms. “I’ve missed you!”

“I’ve missed you too sweetheart,” said Harry, and he gave Kara a big hug.

“Come here sweetie. I don’t think Harry wants to be dived all over as soon as he walks through the door,” said Tonks, in a very motherly tone.

“Ok mummy,” said Kara obediently and she walked over to her mum and sat on the floor at her feet. Harry couldn’t help but laugh. She was so much like Tonks, with her loving ways, her excited outbursts and the fact that she was a metamorghmagus, but in another way she a lot like her Father, Remus, as she was very intelligent. It was a miracle that little Kara was alive, as her life had been in danger before Harry had killed Voldemort. Fenir Greyback had been after her once he had found out that she was the daughter of Remus. According to Remus and Tonks, Kara had been an accident, as they hadn’t planned to have children until Greyback and Voldemort were destroyed. But once they had found out that Tonks was pregnant, they decide not to get rid of the baby. They both agreed it would be as bad as Greyback killing her if they did so. And Harry was glad that they hadn’t, as Kara had touched his heart and he had become very attached to her, even though she was a two year old toddler that giggled so much that most of the time you couldn’t understand what she was saying.

“Harry! Good to see you mate!” cried Ron with delight, “how’s it been?”

“OK, I ‘spose.” said Harry, “apart from the fact that I can’t go anywhere without being bombarded by my adoring fans.”

Ron chuckled and shook Harry’s hand.

“Harry!” squealed Hermione. She wrapped her arms around him so tightly that he could barely breath.

“Hi, Hermione,” he said, massaging his throat.

“I was worried that you wouldn’t come. Ginny’s being dying to see you!” she exclaimed.

Harry suddenly felt a glimmer of hope and more confident about asking her out. She wanted to see him? No, she was dying to see him!

There was a sudden crack and the familiar face of Remus Lupin appeared in the doorway. He looked a lot more happier and healthier since Harry last saw him.

“Daddy!” yelled Kara, and she ran up to him, just like she did to Harry.

“Hello princess!” said Lupin, as he scooped up his daughter and held her, lovingly. She really was the most beautiful and cheerful little girl Harry had ever met. She had pink hair (just like her mum, but hers was a lot longer), her dad’s big brown eyes and her mum’s cheeky grin. Despite all she had been through, Kara was the happiest child on the planet and brought herhappiness to everyone who met her, especially Harry. Since Harry had met her, he had thought about having children, maybe with Ginny….

“Harry!” said a familiar voice.

Harry turned around to find Ginny in the doorway, looking even more gorgeous than usual. His heart skipped a beat. She walked up to him, looking rather awkward and shy. She looked up at Harry and smiled. br />

“I thought that you wasn’t coming,” she said.

“You know me, wouldn’t miss your mother’s cooking for the world..”

Ginny laughed, but suddenly went quiet and had a rather apprehensive expression on her face.

“Ginny, what’s wrong?” asked Harry, concerned.

“I need to talk to you…in private, please,”she said, uncomfortably.

“Er.. yeah, sure,” said Harry.

He followed her into the back garden into some bushes at the rear, near to where the gnomes hung out.

“I need to ask you something,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.

“Ok…” said Harry, his voice trailing off a little.

“I want to go back out with you,” she said, rather nervously and quickly.

Harry felt a sudden weight lift off his shoulders. His heart didn’t feel so heavy and he felt as if he was walking on air.

“ I’ve wanted to ask you that for days!” he exclaimed.

“So, we’re going out then?” Ginny said, hopefully.

“Of course! Of course!” he exclaimed.

Suddenly, Harry felt himself lunge for Ginny and the next thing he knew, they were kissing each other passionately, touching each other in the most intimate places. Their bodies were barely apart from each other as their tongues danced together. They only pulled apart when the familiar voice of Mrs. Weasley called: “Dinner’s ready!”
Both Ginny and Harry hastily smartened themselves up so nobody suspected nothing. They could imagine Mrs. Weasley if she found out what they had been up to. But Harry didn’t care what people thought. He had finally beaten every obstacle that had come in his way and had finally got Ginny. As far as he was concerned, they were both entitled to a little happiness and love.
