Sirius ran back to the snowball fight, all too aware that he was returning without Amanda. He was so mad with himself that he had done that. He wasn’t even sure that Amanda liked him in that way and now it was possible that he had ruined their friendship. When he reached the sight of the snowball fight, he found it was deserted. A note was written in the snow.

Girls wan. Gone to warm up. See you both in the common room
James, Remus, Peter, Lily, Natalie and Michelle.

After he had finished reading the note, it disappeared. Obviously Lily’s work thought Sirius to himself. He contemplated returning to the common room, but what about Amanda? His friends would think it was strange if he came back by himself. Deciding he didn’t care, and that he would just tell them the truth, he walked towards the castle. Unknown to him, Sirius was being watched by Amanda, who was still confused about what had just happened.

She walked in the direction of the lake, deciding that she didn’t want to face Sirius just now. The worst part was that she couldn’t really avoid him because the two groups were spending all their time together. She reached the beech tree and, once again, conjured up a chair. She couldn’t help but smile when she thought about all the times she had sat under the tree thinking about things. She sat for a while wondering why Sirius had ran off. After last night, she knew he did like her but why did he run? The only explanation she could think of was that he didn’t know if she liked him. But she had told him the night of the whole Remus and Snape incident. She shook her head and stared across the frozen lake.

~~~~In the Common Room~~~~
“Sirius you are such an idiot!” James muttered, after his friend had told the group what had happened between him and Amanda.
“Why did you run again?” asked Michelle.
“Because I don’t know if she likes me.”
“Correct me if I’m wrong, but did she not shout at you and say she was starting to like you?” asked Natalie.
“She did.” Sirius replied.
“Then why did you think she didn’t?” asked Lily, confused by his actions.
“I don’t know!” Sirius said placing his head in his hands and groaning loudly.
“Okay, here’s what you do. Go find her and tell her why you ran before she thinks you are repulsed by her.” Michelle said bluntly.
“I don’t know where she is!” he said exasperatedly.
“By the lake.” Remus announced.
“How did you know that?” Lily asked incredulously.
“Thanks Moony.” Sirius up and left.
No one answered Lily’s question. The Marauders weren’t going to tell her about the map. Well, not just yet.

~~~~By the Lake~~~~
Sirius walked towards Amanda, and remembered the result the last time he had done this. He hoped things went as well as they did the last time. Amanda heard the crunching of someone’s footsteps in the snow, and found that she didn’t care who it was. The next thing she knew, Sirius was standing beside her with a guilty smile on his face.

“Hey.” She said quietly.
“Hi!” He spoke, if possible, quieter than Amanda had.
“Would you like me to conjure you a seat, or will you stay around long enough for the incantation?” her voice wasn’t bitter, but Sirius knew that she had meant it to sound that way.
“I think I have some explaining to do.” He stated
“Really? I thought it was normal for guys to kiss someone then just run off!” Amanda said sarcastically, and Sirius knew she was about to explode with anger unless he acted quickly.
“I shouldn’t have kissed you. I should have known you didn’t like me in that way. I’m sorry for being such an idiot but when I seen you I just couldn’t help myself. I’m so sorry. I hope we can still be friends.” He finished speaking and looked hopefully at Amanda. She shook her head sadly and Sirius stood up to leave. As he stood up, Amanda did the same and grabbed a hold of his arms.
“I can’t be just friends with you.” She whispered quietly and Sirius looked directly into her eyes, she couldn’t mean what he thought she meant. “But I don’t want a few weeks of fun. I want the whole lot!” she warned him.
“I’ll give you that, and more!” He whispered before pulling her into his arms. She giggled as he lifted her of the ground and spun her around. After he put her back on the ground, he pulled her into a kiss, and this time, she returned it.

~~~~Near the Entrance Hall~~~~
Six students watched the two figures at the lake with baited breath. They hoped Sirius would wreck it! As much as they liked him, they didn’t think he possessed an ounce of tact. They had seen Sirius stand up to leave and shared an uneasy look. They turned to leave, so Sirius wouldn’t see them, when they heard giggling ring out across the grounds. They turned just in time to see their two friends share a kiss.

“As much as I’m glad they are together, that was gross!” Michelle shuddered as she spoke and the other five started laughing.
