'He's gonna gloat.' Hermione told herself as she walked into the Gryffindor common room. She had been going out with a boy from Ravenclaw for 2 terms now. Ron had always told her that she wasn't going to be happy. That she would get hurt. And today, Bradley (The Ravenclaw) proved Ron right. Hermione had gone to the Quidditch field to find Bradley. When she entered the locker rooms, she saw Bradley in there kissing a Hufflepuff.

Hermione walked through the portrait. She looked around the common room and spotted Ron sitting at the fire place studying. Hermione ran toward the girls dorms. Before she got there she heard Ron call.
"'Mione?" He said. Hermione ignored him and went into her room, shutting the door behind her. Leaving Ron outside awestruck.
For the next few days Hermione did this. In fact, she had just run into her room. She was laying on her bed. There was no other escape. And the girls dorm door opened slowly. In the doorway was Ron.

"Hermione?" He said into the dark room. Hermione was very quiet, hoping he would just go away. No such luck.
"Hermione, I can see you sitting on your bed." He said as he walked in, turned on the light, and closed the door. "Herm, you have been avoiding me for three days. What's going on?" Ron asked. Hermione shook her head.
"Nothing." She said in a voice that she hoped wouldn't give her away.
"Bull." Ron said as he walked closer to Hermione. "You never avoid me unless there is a reason. Did we have a fight that I don't know about?" Ron asked. Hermione had to bite her tongue to keep from laughing.
"No, Ron. We didn't have a fight." She sighed. Ron sat down on the bed oposit Hermione.
"What's wrong then?" He asked again.

Hermione looked down at her bed-spread.
"I can't tell you." She muttered. Ron almost laughed.
"'Mione, you can tell me anything." He said with a smile that made Hermione melt. Hermione shook the thought away.
"I can't tell you this." She said, now looking at Ron.
"Why?" Ron said in exasperation. Hermione didn't answer for a few minutes, but when she finally did, it was like she had just exploded.
"Because you'll gloat!" She screamed.

"What?" Ron said in disbelief.
"You. Will. Gloat. How much do you need it spelled out!" Hermione yelled.
Then she jumped up and was about to run out the door, when Ron blocked her path and grabbed her by the shoulders, forcing her to look at him.
"Gloat about what?" He said. A tear slid down Hermione's cheek.
"About the fact that Bradley was cheating on me." She said in a very uneven voice.

Ron didn't need Hermione to say it again. He immediately pulled her into a hug.
"Hermione, you should now that I would never try to hurt you." Ron said. Hermione cried into his chest.
"I-I-I-I K-Kn-kno-know." She sobbed. Ron stroked Hermione's hair.
"Sh-sh-sh." He said in a soothing voice.

Ron walked Hermione over to her bed.
"You need to go to sleep." He said. Ron was about to walked away, when Hermione stopped him.
"Will you sit with me for a little while?" She asked. Ron smiled and nodded.
"Yeah." He said as he laid down next to Hermione and let her put her head on his chest. Hermione gave one last sob. Ron kissed the top of her head.
"He's crazy." Ron muttered to Hermione as she fell asleep.
