Peter's eyes glazed over and Sirius grinned.
"It's working." He said in an excited whisper.
"Who wants to ask the questions?" James asked, uncertaintly.
"It should probably be Moony." Sirius said.
Remus shook his head 'no'.
"I'll do it." Sirius was now grinning evilly.
"So, Peter, do you put Malfoy up to it?" He asked.
"Up to what?" Peter asked.
"Going through Moony's stuff." Sirius said.
He was remaining oddly calm.
"Yes." He was looking at his feet, talking to the floor.
"Why?"
Sirius didn't speak this, but Remus did.
"You gave Sirius so much attention, and he did the same to you.James had Lily and I was stuck with no one." He said.
Sirius began to speak but Remus held his hand up.
"I wanted some attention and Malfoy gave that to me.So, I asked him to go through your stuff.To embarress you." Peter said, coldly.
Sirius and James were unable to speak so Remus spoke.
"So, you had him go through my stuff to get you attention?How did this work?" Remus asked, angrily.
"I don't know."Peter said, weakly.
"You do know."Remus said quietly, slamming his fist into the side table.
Sirius saw this as a problem and dragged Remus away.He nodded to James, so James took up the questioning.
"So, your plan was to get Malfoy to go through his stuff then tell on Malfoy.So you can be the hero?" James asked.
He was oddly calm.Peter just nodded his head.James shook his head.
"You'll never be the hero.Not with the way you play." James said and walked away.
He found the other two sitting in the common room, curled into one chair.
"So, what happened?" Sirius asked.
Remus was sitting atop of Sirius and Sirius was stroking his hair. Remus was asleep.
"He's asleep.Peter thought that he'd be the hero if he put Malfoy up to it and then told on him." James said, quietly.
"The scandal." Sirius whispered.
"Let's go tell Dumbledore." James said and got up.
"No.Moony's been through alot.He needs to sleep and so do I.So, could you try to keep the noise down?" Sirius said and drifted off.
James looked at his two best mates and smiled.They looked so comfortable and happy, curled up into each others arms.They belonged together.The rest of Gryffindor house came in and immediatly shushed, as James' fingers were on his lips.He pointed at the two sleeping boys. A quiet 'awww' went through the room.
"Where were you today?" Lily whispered to him.
"Woke up late and in Dumbledore's office." James said.
He led her over to a love seat near the boys.
"Remus too?" She asked.
She had never heard of the boy getting in trouble, which was why he was a Prefect.
"No, something happened.He probably doesn't want it all around.You can ask him when he wakes up." James said.
They just stared at the boys for what felt like minutes.James checked his watch when Remus stretched.
"We've been sitting here for 2 hours." James said.
At James' outburst, Sirius woke up. "What time is it?" He asked, groggily.
"Around 6.We'd better get to Dumbledore." James said and got up again.
Remus and Sirius got up and left, James following.They walked into his office.
"Professor Dumbledore!" James called.
"Yes, James?" He asked.
Sirius, James, and Remus sat down in front of his desk.
"We're going to admit we did something wrong, but we know who went through Remus' stuff." James said.
"Yes, and by what means did you find out?" Dumbledore asked.
sirius and James had no clue what he had said, so Remus had to answer.
"Sirius stole a truth potion from Professor Madden." He said.
"Yes, and what did you find out?" Dumbledore asked.
James took control again.
"Peter put Malfoy up to it and was planning on telling on him so he could be the hero." He said.
"Good.Now, because you did soemthing wrong, I will give you each one night of detention with Hagrid.Good bye.Please send Professor McGonnagal, Peter, Mr. Malfoy, and Professor Madden up." He said.
They left.
"Who wants to get Madden?" Sirius asked, looking around.
"I will." Remus said.
"Okay, I'm going with Moony.James, you can get McGonnagal and Peter." Sirius said and dragged Remus away.James headed down the opposite corridor, lost in thought.
"Mr.Potter, what are you doing?" a sharp voice asked him.
He snapped back into reality, staring at McGonnagal.
"Um...Professor McGonnagal, Professor Dumbledore wants to see you and Pettigrew." James said.
"Mr.Potter, please go to the Gryffindor Tower and get Mr. Pettigrew.Send him to Professor Dumbledore's office." McGonnagal said and left.
James ran all the way to Gryffindor Tower.
"Peter!Go to Dumbledore's office!" He shouted into the common room and left.
Lily made sure he got there and was planning on talking to James later.James, on the other hand, was looking for Remus and Sirius.
"What was that?" Remus asked.
Usually he wasn't the one to talk when him and Sirius were making, but he had heard something.
"Nothing, love." Sirius said and continued his way down Remus' chest.
"Yes, I heard something." Remus said and pulled Sirius' head up.
"But Remus." Sirius whined.
"Listen." Remus said.
They heard the echoe of footsteps.
"Padfoot!Moony!" A voice yelled.
"Over here, Prongs!" Sirius yelled.
"Padfoot, what do you think you're doing?I'm half undressed." Remus said.
"Your point?You are wonderfull.No need to hide it." Sirius said.
James followed Sirius' voice and the sound of someone getting slapped.Most likely Sirius.
"Hullo." Sirius said.
He was rubbing his head and glaring at Remus.Remus was grinning and buttoning his shirt.
"What'd you do to him?" James asked.
"Slapped him across the head.Don't worry, he deserved it." Remus said.
"We really need to get Madden." James said.
"He's in his office." Sirius said.
He was making it clear that he wasn't going to get him.
"I'll get him." Remus said and walked off.
"What'd you do to get slapped?" James asked, sitting on the floor.
"Told him he was wonderfull." Sirius said and sat down next to James.
Remus came back and dragged them off the floor.
"We need to get to the common room before Malfoy and Madden come this way.Malfoy looked ready to kill when I told Madden." Remus said and started down the corridor.
"Malfoy was with Madden?" Sirius asked.
"Tell you in the dorm." Remus said and started climbing the stairs.
The reached the common room and before Lily could kill James, escaped to the boy's dorm.
"Malfoy has to take extra potion lessons." Remus said.
"Don't tell me that out beloved Malfoy has to take extra lessons?" Sirius asked.
"That's what he just said." James said.
Sirius and James burst into laughter, followed by Remus.Soon enough, they were rolling around on the floor, clutching their sides.
"Hey, it's time for dinner." Lily said, standing in their door frame.
The boys managed to pick themselves up off the floor.They walked down to dinner and seated themselves where they usually sat. Food appeared on the table and they ate.Dinner was followed by a long speech about the consequences that would happen if you got into another person's stuff.
"Was that speech about you, Remus?" Lily asked when they were sitting in the common room.
"Yeah." Remus said.
Him and Sirius were in the same chair.Lily and James were sitting across from them.When Lily gave him a confusing look, he explained.
"Peter put Malfoy up to going through my stuff." He said and buried his head in Sirius' neck.
"What are you doing?" Sirius asked.
"Trying to get closer." Remus said and Sirius felt him smile.
Peter walked in and was bombarded by questions.He merely raised his nose into the air and walked to the dorm.
"There's going to be a war tonight." Sirius said.
The four of them sat there, just thinking and (on Sirius and Remus' part) making out.Midnight came way too soon and as they climbed the stairs, thought about that day.
"Sleep here tonight?" Sirius asked Remus.
"Sure." He said and climbed into Sirius' bed.
Sirius climbed in and closed the curtains.
"Sirius!Don't do that!" Remus said.
"Shush.Don't want to wake Prongs, now do we?" Sirius said.
James could see Sirius' shadow on top of another shadow.
"Still awake, Padfoot." James said.
"Go to sleep." Sirius demanded.
James laughed and climbed into his bed, clad only in his boxers.He layed down and fell asleep, ready for the next day now that this was all over.
