You were called Ally Mablien. You were 18 years old. You had long brown hair and dark green eyes. You looked completely normal. Except you weren't. You had left school at the age of sixtenn to become an Auror. You had finished your training 7 months in, when it usually takes people 2 years. You had quickly risen in the world of Defence Against the Dark Arts, and was the only Auror of your age.
You sighed, and chucked the rest of the post on the table. Not very interesting post today. You slumped down in the armchair. You were exhausted. You had spent all day reading eye-witness accounts desperatly trying to find out where Bellatrix Lestrange was now. You closed your eyes. Just for a few seconds, but when you opened them you realised you had been asleep for a few hours. You also realised that a brown eagle owl was sitting on the kitchen table staring at you. There was a letter tied to its leg. You took the letter from it, and gave the owl a bowl of water. It stayed obviously waiting for a reply.
Dear Miss Malbien,
I am Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts. I hope you don't mind, but I would like to meet you at Hogwarts on the 20th August to discuss urgent matters. Please reply with the same owl, but do not mention the meeting, just an I shall or shall not will be required on a spare piece of parchment. Please rip this letter up and burn it after reading.
Yours sincerly,
Albus Dumbledore.
You put the letter down. "What an earth does Dumbledore want?" you mused. The owl hooted impatiently. You snapped back to your senses, and wrote on a spare piece of parchment: "I shall,"
Well, you couldn't exactly refuse Dumbledore. You tied the letter to the owls leg and watched it fly off into the night. Your own owl, Klitras, hooted sleepily. You smiled and stroked her gently. You then tore the letter up and watched it burn in the fire. You were still wondering what Dumbledore wanted, and how you had never been to Hogwarts, (You attended a school in Ireland called Davion School of Magic) when the clock sturck twelve. You realsied that you had work in 7 hours, so you stoked out the fire and went to bed.
You were sitting in your section of the office that contained all the Aurors after just filing a day of leave for tomorrow which was when you were visiting Dumbledore. You were curios to know what he wanted, and began to daydream again, when:
"Malbien!" It was another Auror by the name of Lucy Weflton. "File this," she snarled. Lucy had a certain resentment towards you, because until you came she was the youngest in the office, (she was 21,) and she had enjoyed the fact that people would gaze at her in awe, because she was an Auror, at the age of only 20. Also, you had the high profile case of Bellatrix Lestrange, while she had the case of a wizard who was causing trouble in the mountains, which wasn't as much in the spotlight as yours. Though you would have gladly swapped. The Lestrange case was full of dead ends, and was very frustrating.
"Sorry, Lucy I would but im busy, you have a secretary who is eager to work, so why don't you give her all your secreterial work instead of me,"
"Fine," Lucy turned on her heel and stormed off.
The 20th August dawned bright and early. At 10:00, you took Floo powder to Hogwarts. You arrived in a circular room. A woman, with a stern face and dressed in green robes was standing beside an old oak-polished desk, and behind it was a man with a sweeping silver beard who had a kind face, and a bright blue eyes. Albus Dumbledore. He stood up when you entered the room. "Ah, Miss Malbien, How are you?"
"Im fine thank you...." You wondered what to call him, Dumbledore? Albus? Professor?
"Please, call me Albus," he said smiling. "May I introduce you to my collague, Minerva McGonagall,"
You shook hands.
Dumbledore returned to his desk. "Please, sit down,"
you sat down. "Well Miss Malbien, I won't beat around the bush........." You listened. "I want to offer you the postiton of Hogwarts Auror,"
You sat stunned for a moment. "I need an answer today, Miss Malbien, you will basically prevent DeathEaters and Voldemorts supporters-" he watched your expression when he said Voldemort. You didn' t flinch. "from entering Hogwarts, and to protect the students. I am capable of doing this Miss Malbien, but I need some help. I am Headmaster and so obviously, have a lot of worries on my mind. You will cover some Defence Against The Dark Arts lessons, you will live here all year, and can also help the Quidditch Department, as I know you have some knowledge in the sport."
"But what about my job?"
"That has been taken care of," You didn't question the matter any further. "You will have all the support from teachers, and have my compete trust. Well, Miss Malbien what do you say?"
You thought about it. Leaving the stressful, city job with an office full of ratty wizards, to work in the country and have the biggest career oppurtunity, not to mention working with the greatest wizard of all time.
You opened your mouth.
"I'll do it."
