I don't think it sounds too awkward, it sounds good. I think Lily and James were a little too forgiving, though. Would they really just let a Death Eater walk out of the house freely, even if he was a so-called friend?

What I really liked was the idea of Sirius dreaming about the betrayal. It's a plausible idea that he might have really dreamt it and ignored it and you are showing what happens if he listens to the dream's warning. I hope to read lots more of this!
