Review #1, by Rumpelstiltskin Live With Myself

14th September 2017:
Hello again.

This piece is so heartbreaking. Severus has to deal with the aftermath of Lily's death, and it's killing him. He's partially blaming himself because he chose his love for power and dark magic over her (time and time again). Now, it's too late.

I think the beginning was filled with some powerful imagery, and I really commend you on that. As far as Severus' Patronus is concerned, I'm really digging that he summoned it to find comfort.

"Could he cry now?" This packed a punch. Everything Severus had to endure, and he still is wondering if he has to be strong. Furthermore, his giving up seemed extremely likely at this point.

Again, when you tie it back to canon with the discussion with Dumbledore as means for Severus to have a will to live was done nice.

I thought the ending of this was just as powerful when Severus finds a will to live, is still left to wonder HOW. This stands alone as a piece exceptionally well, and I think it followed up the falling out piece nicely.

Review #2, by lovegood27 Live With Myself

21st January 2017:
Hello, I'm here for BvB :)

So after reading the prequel to this, I decided to take a look at this as well and I don't even know what to say! This was written so well, Severus' actions is matches his personality in the books perfectly, as does Dumbledore's. Severus trying to kill himself and Dumbledore stopping him just in time; I loved that touch, it's so like them.

I have to say, this has to be one of the most heart-wrenching fics I've ever read (prequel inclusive). I think Severus' grief was portrayed really well, but it made me so sad that he kept on thinking about Lily's eyes, because we know from the books that Harry's eyes were the only part of him that reminded Severus of Lily. I also loved how Severus was almost volunteering to raise Harry-his childhood would have been very different if he had! My reactions were the same as Dumbledore's: Snape isn't exactly a fatherly person, but anything would be better than the Dursleys, I suppose ;)

All in all, I thought this was a brilliant story, and I'll hopefully get round to checking out the sequel sometime later :D

Author's Response: Hi! I'm so glad you enjoyed they story- it's one I've been wanting to tell for a long time and I finally figured out how to do it because my best friend is addicted to challenges, hahaha! It's very important to me that the emotion comes across okay and I'm glad to know that I've done my job here.

As I wrote this, I wondered to myself how different Harry's life might have been if Severus HAD taken him in, if only to keep him away from Petunia. I wonder if his life would have been any better, growing up in the magical world, or if Severus couldn't help but be just as mean to Harry as the Dursley's out of spite for James. I think it's something I'd like to play with later on, actually.

I know you've already read the third part (I see the review up there) but I hope you like it!

That was a really good way to show how Severus felt after Lily's death and how he decided to protect Harry. I like this series so far.

Author's Response: I'm glad you like it!
