hi caomoyl,
i'm not sure if you're aware, but you're using my email to back up your stories and reviews. there are around forty-eight of your stories/reviews/spreadsheets currently sitting in my google drive. i'm sure you'd much rather have them backed up to your own email !! just thought i'd let you know :) (i would have contacted you privately, but since the forums are down that wasn't an option)

OOH OOH GRINDELWALD!
I love Grindelwald fics :D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMY! I'm here dropping off a few reviews in honor of your special day, which I hope you enjoy (your day that is, not the reviews, but feel free to enjoy those too), and you deserve all the good in the world for the effort you put into our little fandom home.

Okay, anyway.

I feel like I've been searching for this story my whole life, but no one ever seems to want to write about the duel. So thank you for satisfying me.

BAHAHAHA should I erase that last sentence?! Nah, lets leave it in there.

I like that Dumbledore wrote a letter to Grindelwald first, I feel that was a logical thing for him to do. Dumbledore would go through every means to stop him before it finally came down to a duel. And I don't blame him, thinking of Ariana every time he thinks of Grindelwald now :(

Dumbledore and Grindelwald both have distinct voices and perspectives; you've done an amazing job with going back and forth between them.

Also, I must really get onto Hamilton.

Awesome job, Amy, I'm impressed by your writing! Can't wait to see what else is waiting for me on your author page!

♥ Bianca

Review #3, by Felpata Lupin The Duel

14th May 2016:
Hello, Amy!
Finally here with your requested review, sorry it took me so long... :(

I loved this! Really, wonderful job!

The breaking into sections worked lovely. I loved the escalation it created and how Dumbledore's view changed from the initial reluctance and remnant of hope and love for his old friend to the final acceptance that Grindelwald wouldn't change and the determination in stopping him.

I also loved the contrast you created between the two characters. On one hand Albus, his feelings, his regret, his will to stop injustice and suffering. On the other Gellert, his coldness, his lack of emotion, his thirst for power.

This was a really great read, brilliantly written and so powerful. The characterization was great, the structure absolutely clever and the flow just perfect. I loved it.

Thank you for the read, and once again sorry for the lateness!

Much love,
Chiara

Author's Response: Hi! That's okay!
Thank you so much for the review!
The sections were most definitely experimental just to fit it in with the song so I'm happy that it worked!
I was worried about the characterisation but I'm glad it came across well and showed their differences.
Thank you again!

Review #4, by dreamgazer220 The Duel

Hey there! I'm here with your requested review ♥

So, I loved this! I don't normally read much with Albus as the main character, and he's such a hard character to write - but you did an amazing job with characterization. I loved being inside of both of their heads for the majority of this piece; I felt like it really added to the coming duel as we could see where both sides were coming from.

You also did a great job building up the suspense; I loved that you had it in sections, it was clearly marked and easy to read, and both Dumbledore and Grindelwad's voices were so distinct. I really felt for Dumbledore; you did a great job of exploring the childhood/teenage love he had for the man who was coming to destroy the world, and the realization that he was a different man was just so heartbreaking.

And I got serious chills at the last line. A+

Only two things really stood out to me;

When in Dumbledore's head, it felt strange that he was referring himself that way. I would think it would be Albus. In Grindewald's head, it makes sense that it's Dumbledore, and you do well with their dialogue and I love that they called each other by their first names.

I know you were concerned with the dialogue, but as I said before, it was really well done. The only thing that felt a little strange to me was this:

"Are you still foolish enough to think that I will abandon my power, Albus?" - that line is totally fine.
"Clearly." - this is the response I have a little trouble with. I feel like something more like, "Yes" or "I am" would be more fitting coming from someone like Dumbledore.

Overall, though, this was an amazing one-shot. You pulled me in and kept me at the edge of my seat, even though we know how this story ends.

Good luck with the challenge, and thank you for the request!

~Jill

Author's Response: Thank you so much!
I was so worried about getting Dumbledore right. He's always been such a hard character to figure out.
My favourite thing when writing is to write from their heads so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do the same for this!
The last line was actually the first one I wrote and I didn't change it at all during editing. It's amazing how things like that can just come to you.
I spent a while deliberating on whether to use Albus or Dumbledore and could never fully decide either way but I do understand your point.
Thank you for the CC and for the wonderful review!

Review #5, by MadiMalfoy The Duel

3rd May 2016:
Ah this is such a great piece! What a great song you got too--it goes perfectly with the duel you chose to write about! Really well done, and the numbers breaking up each section echo each of the ten duel commandments as they're sung in the song. You've captured Dumbledore & Grindewald's essences here rather beautifully too and didn't overly complicate the story at all to fit with the song.

You wrote this exceedingly well and I hope you place well in Claire's challenge! Hamilton is so good and I'll have to read everyone else's entries from this too! :)

Author's Response: Thank you!
There were certain elements of the song that just couldn't fit to the situation so I just tried to get the essence of each section and mould it around what we knew of the battle.
Hamilton is the best! I'm sure the other entries are all incredible. I'll have to read them too!

Review #6, by adluvshp The Duel

25th April 2016:
Hey Amy!

I just wanted to stop by and leave a proper review just 'cause you're the best and this story rocks.

It's really amazing that you've written for a challenge after such a long period of time and yet your writing is still awesome. I loved your portrayals of Dumbledore and Grindelwald. Their thoughts made sense and I can totally imagine that this is how it went down in canon.

Your descriptions and overall narrative was absolutely brilliant. I could picture it all happening in my head. The way the plot tied in with the song was lovely too. Absolutely loved the writing style with the segmentation.

Segment eight when they finally come face to face with each other is my favourite. You did a great job with the dialogue there.

All in all, I really enjoyed reading this! Great work!

Love

Author's Response: Gaaah, thank you!
It's nice to be writing again. I didn't realise how much I missed it!
